THANK YOU !
hi there! want some cool harry potter-esque books without it being harry potter or associated with The Bitch? do you want a book series that combines magic, folklore, coming-of-age, and whimsical but badass magical animal companions? do you want a book series whose plotholes don't look like a piece of baby swiss, and whose villain is a conniving and intriguing otherwordly-type creature?
well look no further!
i present to you one of my favorite book series' of all time! The Tapestry series by Henry H. Neff. It's a five-book series that is now fully available in print (due to rights, timing, and publishing issues, the fifth book was only available as audio/e-book until 2021)!
The Tapestry series is mainly set in the United States of America, starts with the first book, The Hound of Rowan where tween-aged Max McDaniels finds a mysterious room in a museum that leads him on a whirlwind journey to an ancient and hidden school, finding unlikely friends (and learning about ancient, unlikely, and horrifying enemies), and finds out that a extraordinary power resides in him that he must learn to harness.
The series goes through Max's life, following the relationships, allyships, and betrayals that surround him and his peers, where he knocks on doors that have probably been locked for a reason. All while a threat looms on the horizon that threatens not only his world, but the entire universe as we know it.
anyway, to stop sounding like a paid actor for this series, it's been one of my favorite series since I first read it when I was 11. even in my most harry potter-obsessed, the tapestry far surpassed hp in terms of thoughtfullness, worldbuilding, characterization, and handling of folklore.
also they have weapons. they gave them weapons. my man max has a giant-ass spear. what more can you ask for.
oh and they summon demons!
check it out! and let me know what you think! :D
I think it's kind of really funny how some people (TERFs) try to insist that JKR is advocating for the rights of ANY women when her writing and everything she says kind of indicates that she actually seems to fucking Hate women. even people she actually perceives as women. the harry potter books HATE women. like the women i most remember from those books are "girl who is considered an annoying know it all who's Too Woke (thinks slavery is bad) but does all the work for the boys so they like her" "mother and mother figures. did i mention she's a Mother and that makes her Good and Pure" "evil fat woman. you can tell she's evil bc shes fat you guys" and "insane whore"
part of my ‘people throw around the word abuse too much!’ series
Book and Movie Snape can roat it hell. It’s my last word.
if your neuro diversity activism doesn't include people with psychosis then it's worthless I'm not sorry to say
if your neuro diversity activism doesn't include people with NPD, ASPD, BPD, HPD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, delusions, drug use disorder, OCD and other stigmatized mental disorders (yes, even those ones), 👏🏼 it's worthless👏🏼
One of life's great ironies is that almost everyone who makes the active decision to not have kids would probably be way better at raising a child than all the people who just kind of have children because it's what they think everyone is supposed to do
Like genuinely if you're like "I don't want kids because of the financial strain/the commitment/the irritation I would feel/the possibility of traumatizing them/whatever reason" you instantly demonstrate to me that you 1) understand the realities of parenthood and 2) believe that children should be treated with at least a base level of respect and compassion. Meanwhile everyone who's like "I want kids because I don't want to be alone" "I can't wait to dress up my babies" "I won't raise my children to be soft" may as well be talking about Neopets for all the fucks they seem to give about kids
no one:
antis:
keira knightley giggling and saying in the most patronizing tone possible "we're all gonna have to figure out how to live together, aren't we?" when made aware that jkr has been agressively and continuously campaining and advocating against trans people for the better part of a decade is probably the best illustration of centrist privilege ive ever seen in my entire life
"were all gonna have to figure out how to live together arent we" so the funny thing about that is that troll youre working with wants us all dead
Ok, I did cut out Op's username and face, but what the fuck, man. This is the godforsaken year of two thousand and twenty fucking five and you still wanna live in a world made by a bigoted cunt.
I only gonna talk about jk Rowling just this once
Jk Rowling i understand why people hated her and they have the right to do so. She use her platform to hurt others and let's not support her, however i do have critique for the people who talk about jk Rowling being bad writer. While yes jk Rowling wasn't a good writer we should'n focusing on that whether the art someone make is good or bad that's doesn't determine someone morality. Also let's just not talk about her even if we do just little as possible
Her skills as a writer don't matter.
Fact is... she's a monster going out of her way to hurt people.
That's the important thing
"This dead author wasn't a good person, so you shouldn't read their work"
OR
How about we avoid giving money to living authors who are bad people? How about instead of telling me not to read anything by Sylvia Plath or H.P. Lovecraft, two dead authors who do not profit from you buying their books, because they were problematic, we all quit reading stuff by J.K. Rowling and Neil Gaiman? JKR is a bigot who quotes Hitler online and Gaiman is a rapist who is suing his victims. Get your priorities straight, people.
The more I find out about JKR's history and what she's tweeted in the past, the more it's just clear she's out to bullshit and play victim more and more because like: *Her claims that Emma Watson is ingorant to the real world because of her being rich and famous, acting like she isn't like Emma there....when she's literally been on twitter in the past responding to critics with well I have four theme parks so- and with the paychecks/royalties she gets from Harry Potter....meanwhile we have yet to see Emma...or ANY of the HP cast tbh, brag about their wealth like that. *JKR seems to be implying she wasn't in great money situation at fourteen like Emma Watson had been, but uh, the picture of the house JKR lived in at fourteen looks pretty fucking less poverty and actually looks well-off, with it seeming even that her parents owned the place since its been said it was sold years ago for a crap ton of money, and its been also said that whenever she fell on hard times as an adult, she had rich friends to bail her out....if that's what is counted as poverty, sign me the fuck up.
Okay jesus christ to the uh, essay JKR basically published trashing Emma Watson just for extending some niceness to her, because holy shit, the way she basically trashes Emma for apparently being ingortant and never reaching out to her personally (gee I wonder why this essay makes you seem like such an easy person to reach out to...please note the sarcasm) and basically acting like Emma will never understand transphobic made-up-fantasies of being put in a unisex ward (seriously what?) and basically using the whole being in poverty one point card to play victim while I guess acting like Emma owes her loyalty cause she writ the books that made Emma famous. Seriously, what the fuck??? She's written more trashing against Emma and even Daniel Radcliffe because yes he got dragged in, then she has new books recently, all because she's mad adults she's known since children are not what she wants them to be. Kinda ironic she gets mad at Emma for apparently not knowing the real world....when JKR just is forever on twitter and therefore never actually in the real world while Emma and Daniel and others are because in the real world, JKR and her 'GET THEM QUEEN' terfs will find it's very different to what they want/expect.
Precisely, god forbid that wealthy cishet white people inconvenience themselves to support marginalised communities. Keira Knightley and those who purport to support trans rights while supporting/defending/minimising JK Rowling are essentially doing this:
found a really, really wise take on bluesky
