“Wha…excuse me, I am a handsome and totally adult looking kind of guy. Have you seen my biceps? A baby would not have arms like mine, Sadez…unless they had super human strength or whatever, which would be awesome, but besides the point.” He raised an eyebrow at her comment as it only seemed to encourage him more, inching closer. “C’mon, Sadie, look at you. You know you’ve still got it going on. Don’t even try and pretend otherwise.”

Chuckling at his comments, her eyebrows furrowed at his defensive stance and she shook her head. “I’m pretty sure you’ve had those biceps since you were a little kid. I’m almost positive you were a body builder as a kid.” She joked, smiling at him. She eyed him up and down as he got closer and Sadie looked at him as if it were a warning to stop. “How old do you think I am? I’m clinging onto my last year of growing wiser, Gav. From here on out, I’m grammie Sadie.”

Even without permission the next time someone leaves me a dry tip I’m going to blow up on them. I need to work at a place that better suits me. Up In Smoke is way too old fashioned and attracts horrible tippers. 

“Here’s a tip– whenever you feel a lousy tipper coming, ruin their meal. Just incase, so you get ‘em before they ruin your day. Beat ‘em to it!”

On a scale of one to ten how bothered do I seem? Well take that answer and multiply it times six billion because I’m completely dismayed by the fact that people in this town do not know how to tip. If I see one more receipt with a little zero and a line slashed through it or a phone number with “call me for the tip ;)” from the idiots three years out of high school still wearing their lettermens, I swear I don’t know what I’ll do. 

“This is when I give you permission to end them. End 'em with all your might and make me proud.”

“Alright, I’ll do anything if you don’t tell my parents where I’m at.” Hunter pleaded. “Wow– sounds like I’m back in high school again.” He let out a long groan and ordered a beer.

“Nah. You know your accent isn’t as bad as some people around here,” he grinned. “Well, that is kind of why I was sent to Frostford in the first place you know. Totally wrecked my car and fucked everything up.”

“I can’t wait until yours comes in full swing, you’re half way there.” She said, giving him a small smirk. “And with that, you’re very welcome, Nathaniel.”

“That sounds awful. Though the prospect of snow kind of sounds appealing. Never seen it before. But that being said, I would love to see it and not have to shovel it.”

“I had to live through a snow storm in New York when I was visiting– never again will you ever catch me in a snow storm. I was unprepared and it was traumatizing.”

“Wow, you give up easy. Not even one shovel full. Man, you’re in for a surprise with this whole global warming thing.”

“I’ll keep runnin’ away from it. Watch me, hun.”

“I mean, I’m immune to the sand in my eyes and eighty degree mornins’ after two– almost three decades.”

“Intriguing, right? Didn’t expect me and Mr. Started- From-The-Bottom to be homies, did ya? That’s probably because I had two bowls of Cocoa Puffs for breakfast instead of one today, extra sugar to get extra hype.” He smirked at her comment, attempting his best blue steel face seconds later. “Twenty four, daaahling, twenty five in a couple months. And I don’t know what you’re talking about because you look just as young as all of us.”

Understanding where his energy actually came from, she nodded her head and gave him a small smile. “Really? You still look like a baby to me, Montgomery.” She teased him. “Oh, don’t make me blush now.”

“Yeah, and you too, Sadie. It was different, y’know? Like you know, no one was stickin’ their noses into my business…it was nice, I just didn’t expect to be away for so long. It’s crazy how quickly a year went by.” She replied. “Did you stick around here for the last year then? I’d ask if anything’s changed around here, but it doesn’t really seem like it since I’ve been back.”

Nodding her head, she let out a small chuckle at the truth Callie was saying. Frostford was so tiny, everybody knew everything. “I was gone for about six for work, up in California then I just came back for family matters. Seems the same ‘round here to me.”

“You kiddin’? I think we could use some snow down here. It’s always too hot for my liking.”

“Oh no, I would actually leave the state if there was a snow storm down here.”

She was torn between beaming up at the face who’d answered the door and greeted her with signing, and glancing at the feet of the kind source. Having been eye level with the lower half of the woman’s body in mid-rise, Emerson tucked her hair behind her ears before letting a soft chuckle roll out of her chest. It had always been in her nature to point things out, the girl grew up with a rather blunt deaf community during her sessions in Nashville growing up. [YOU HAVE 1 BOOT] the younger blonde signed, rising up and standing straight. Using her index finger, she pointed at the budding fashion trend, offering a smile to the woman. 

Sadie sucked in air through her teeth, shrugging her shoulders as she lifted her palms in the air. She dropped the other boot to the ground, shoving her foot in it, letting time go by yet she wasn’t feeling the anxiety and rushed emotion running through her body anymore. The girls sweet appearance had helped her calm down and the brunette let out a small breath of relief out of her mouth. [I KNOW] [I WAS IN A RUSH] [BUT YOU REMINDED ME TO CALM DOWN AND RELAX], Sadie signed back with a smile showing her gratitude.

The hesitation in her answer didn’t go unnoticed, although it wasn’t ever in Calliope’s nature to push anyone to talk, so the blonde offered a small smile instead. “Yeah, I know the feeling.” She nodded. “I’m not bad, I’m just tryin’ to settle back in. It just feels weird, being back, after being gone for so long, y’know?”

“Yeah, it’s good to see you ‘round here again. How was it being out of Frostford? I can say that my experience was a huge culture shock that not everybody knew everybody’s business or life.” The brunette said, taking a sip of her beverage.

“I think I would freeze in a snowstorm. Bless the south but bless California, too. We sacrifice having actual seasons there but seventy four and sunny all year isn’t something I would ever complain about.”

“I agree, anywhere besides the north seems to be doin’ good. You’ve gotta be prepared every single day for a turn of events or weather in their case.”
