A short story to accompany this little scene!
Reports were boring as osik.Ā
There was no other way for Marvel to put it, the proverbial paperwork that came after a battle were sometimes worse than the actual battle. At least in a battle he knew that what he was doing was actual worth while to protect the Republic, he wasnāt convinced that anyone actually read the reports that was submitted. Not even some soulless droid.Ā
But here he was, sitting here trying to not fall asleep as he worked through his post battle report. At least he didnāt have to do very many considering that he was only an ARC Corporal, not nearly as the captains and commanders and GeneralĀ Nakoon. Case in point, the commander sitting right across from him, datapad held in her upper set of hands while her lower set was cradling her face. She looked moments away from falling asleep.Ā
Marvel set his drink and datapad down with a sigh and stretched his arms above his head.Ā McetieāanāsĀ eyes flickered up to him briefly before returning to her own report. Marvel leaned back in his seat and crossed his arms over his chest.Ā McetieāanĀ was smart to already have removed the majority of her armor, it looked a hells of a lot more comfortable. Marvel glanced around the rec room to see a few other troopers milling about or playing sabacc, but most were likely showering or sleeping at this point. It was overall the quiet exhaustion that accompanied the end of a campaign.Ā
He turned his eyes back on his commander.Ā
With his foot out he reach over and nudged her shin, making her glance up at him questioningly. In response he stuck his tongue out at her. Her pupils slitted as she narrowed her eyes at him with a raised.Ā
He wiggled his tongue at her in response.Ā
She raised her eyebrow at him before she stuck her tongue out as well, making him smile. His smile quickly disappeared when her tongue stuck out another six inches, her ears pricking as she stared at him.Ā
āWhat the kriff?ā He asked.Ā
āYouāve never seen aĀ SartoraāsĀ tongue before have you?ā She asked with a laugh.Ā
āNo, why is it so long?ā He demanded.Ā
āBiology and evolution.ā She said. āDuring dry seasons when food was scarcer you had to make use over every kill you made and some of the best nutrients is in bone marrow. So we developed jaws and teeth strong enough to crack bone and tongues long enough to get it out.ā
Marvel wrinkled his nose at that.Ā
āStill, I didnāt like that.ā He said, gesturing to her snout.Ā
āOh well.ā She said. āWe donāt need it so much now because of technology and agriculture but it comes in handy to unsettle people.ā
āConsider me unsettled.ā Marvel said.Ā
She smiled at him, sharp teeth flashing in the lights of the room.Ā
āMaybe you should have paid attention to Triageās anatomy lessons.ā
