Susan King Taylor. Photographed by Samuel W. Brigham, 1800s. Colorized by Robin Clark.
Susan King Taylor, 1848 - 1912
Susie King Taylor (August 6, 1848 - October 6, 1912) is known for being the first Black nurse during the American Civil War. Beyond just her aptitude in nursing the wounded of the 1st South Carolina Volunteer Infantry Regiment, Taylor was the first Black woman to self-publish her memoirs.
She was the author of Reminiscences of My Life in Camp with the 33rd United States Colored Troops, Late 1st S.C. Volunteers. She was also an educator to formerly bonded [enslaved] Black people in the postbellum South by opening various schools in Georgia. Taylor would, in 1886, finally be a part of organizing the 67 Corps of the Women’s Relief Corps.

hi i quit my job to better my mental health and bc i was absolutely not thriving and growing there. i was bullied, micromanaged, and it was a toxic work environment. i’m trying to look into doordash, uber eats, etc in the meantime so that i can keep myself afloat. this was a big leap of faith and i realize maybe not the best choice without something lined up but it wasn’t getting any better. if anyone could spare some change to help me in the meantime till i get a new job & new paycheck that would be fantastic! any and all help is much appreciated as i have to pay mortgage, utilities, take care of my dog, medical debt, etc. thank you all sm!

Please help me get top surgery either by donating or sharing 😔
Hi, I'm Elli (she/they), a 26-year-old disabled non binary person from Italy. I am trying to raise money to get top surgery as my chest dysphoria is excruciating to me and I need your help. If I reached my goal, my life would radically change for the better.
I feel humiliated having to ask for money to be raised, but I will never make it with my own financial means and I'm desperate to have this surgery done, so I caved in and created this fundraiser.
You will be able to find more in depth information by clicking the link ✨
Please help me if you can, even sharing it would be a significant contribution.
Thank you in advance.

I'm asking you to at least please boost this post 💕💕💕
Edit: 36/8500 € raised
i absolutely don't mean to sound ungrateful but this is my first donation post and i'm not sure how all of this works. so, my post gained a lot of traction last night and for that i'm thankful but there were "only" 4 donations lmao. would you suggest deleting it and remaking it once it loses traction or continuing to reblog this one? thanks in advance for the advice!
So I’m 300 short for august rent (used some of the money I had to buy groceries ans pay bills) unemployment (finally filed in the right state but they need to go over my documents. Called today 7/23 and they said it’s coming along) is slow going and I have two interviews set up in the next two weeks that I’m hopeful for.
If y’all could help 😔

[Image ID: A photo of a Black Ethiopian doctor, Dr. Asmamaw, holding a sign in front of a beach in Cornwall, England at the 2021 G7 summit. His sign reads, “I represent the global south who have no voice here. We are dying now from the climate and ecological crises caused by you.” End ID.]
For context: Dr. Asmamaw is an Ethiopian doctor and PhD. He is raising awareness at this year’s 2021 G7 summit of the need for people in the global north to acknowledge & help spread awareness of the dire pandemic conditions in the global south. He also calls out the lack of global south voices speaking up at the summit itself.
Here is a link to the thread containing a recording of a live video where you can see him speak and address these issues. He begins speaking at 40:40. The video is very low quality, but his message is extremely important.
