i love this photo because at first you think that she was going to get married but instead her husband to be left her, or something like that. but actually its quite the opposite. i clicked on the source and it brought me to an article explaining the story behind this photo, and shes not crying, shes hungover. her and her husband went to a football game on their wedding day, and got extremely drunk and partied all night. they took the subway home because they couldn’t drive. so no, its not a sad heartbreaking story, its a crazy joyful one. which in my opinion makes the picture even more amazing.
CAN PEOPLE PLEASE REBLOG THE PIC WITH THIS CAPTION^ AND NOT THE ONE WHERE EVERYONE IS SAD AND ARE LIKE “POOR GIRL GOD BLESS”
morally grey does not mean "is bad but also sad"
a character that is morally grey will not burn the world down because it makes them feel powerful, they'll do it because they perceive something about it to be broken. moral ambiguity has nothing to do with a character's past, and everything to do with the relationship between their actions and their intentions.
Morally gray is stuff like "I selfishly desire adoration and praise, so I will do heroic acts to gain that praise" and "I am willing to torture an enemy soldier if it means saving the innocent"
It is not "I am an evil tyrant but I was bullied as a child so it's okay"
Morally grey is also “I am friends with the heroes and so I have a personal stake in their success, even if I may not truly care about their cause.”
Morally grey can also be 'I consciously do bad things, & I hate doing bad things, I know they are bad, but they are my only way out of an even worse situation & I just want to live.'
“I used to believe that the human race as a whole was basically a few steps above wolves. That given the slightest change in circumstances, we would all, sooner or later, tear each other to shreds. That we were, at root, self-interested, cowardly, envious and potentially dangerous in groups. I have since come to believe — after many meals with many different people in many, many different places — that though there is no shortage of people who would do us harm, we are essentially good. That the world is, in fact, filled with mostly good and decent people who are simply doing the best they can. Everybody, it turns out, is proud of their food (when they have it). They enjoy sharing it with others (if they can). They love their children. They like a good joke. Sitting at the table has allowed me a privileged perspective and access that others, looking principally for “the story,” do not, I believe, always get. People feel free, with a goofy American guy who has expressed interest only in their food and what they do for fun, to tell stories about themselves — to let their guard down, to be and to reveal, on occasion, their truest selves. … People, wherever they live, are not statistics. They are not abstractions. … I’m not saying that sitting down with people and sharing a plate is the answer to world peace. Not by a long shot. But it can’t hurt.” - Anthony Bourdain
I love you

Thinking fondly about the entire genre of victorian hauntings that were "everybody who stayed in the house after dark saw weird shit going on for months until the entire structure suddenly combusted of its own ghostly accord" which abruptly ended as soon as we stopped lighting our homes with vast quantities of odorless gas
[Image: Friendly reminder that "doing your best" does not mean pushing yourself to the point of a mental breakdown.

hello Mr. Gaiman! would you please tell my depression to fuck off?
I can try.
Dear Depression, please fuck off. Begin by fucking off, continue to fuck off, and about the point where you think perhaps it's time to stop fucking off and come back, then just fuck off some more.
@neil-gaiman can I have this as a tattoo?
Of course! Or you can just print it out and put it on your fridge.
no offense but all the pictures of the eclipse i've seen today are really boring here are the ones my astrophotographer boyfriend took

Walmart is recalling nearly 4,000 bottles from a line of aromatherapy spray products linked with a bacterial disease outbreak. A bottle of “Better Homes & Gardens Lavender & Chamomile Essential Oil Infused Aromatherapy Room Spray with Gemstones” tested positive for B. pseudomallei, a rare and sometimes deadly bacteria that causes melioidosis.

Customers will also receive a $20 Walmart Gift Card upon return. Consistent with CDC recommendations, consumers should immediately stop usi
Current as of October 22, 2021
When I saw the headline I thought it would be something like Staph, not fucking Burkholderia pseudomallei. B. pseudomallei is put on the “tier 1 select agent” list because it has strong potential as a bioterror weapon. Also on that list are Bacillus anthracis (anthrax) and Yersinia pestis (black plague).
I really appreciate the 20 dollar Walmart gift card in exchange for being exposed to that
If you were exposed to this, don’t accept the gift card and definitely don’t sign anything. There is almost certainly going to be a lawsuit and Walmart’s lawyers might try to argue that the gift card constitutes a settlement and anyone who took it isn’t entitled to anything else.
10 REASONS TO ADOPT A PET
You save a life.
The cost of adoption is less than buying a pet.
Most shelter animals have had medical treatment and are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date with vaccines.
There are more unique pets to choose from in shelters. Age, breeds, mixed breeds, and personality choices are greater.
Many are already trained.
Your bed is pre-warmed on cold winter nights.
Animals are just ready to love you, no matter what.
Adopting from a shelter opens a cage for another pet who needs a new forever home.
An adult pet takes the guess work out of determining size, thickness of coat, and energy level.
Mixed breeds are unique compared to purebreeds and may have less genetically inherited health problems.

ACCORDING TO METACRITIC, “LEMONADE” BY BEYONCÉ IS THE MOST ACCLAIMED FEMALE ALBUM OF THE DECADE.
You find the black tube inside her beauty case where she keeps your father’s old prison letters. You desperately want to look like her. You look nothing like your mother. You look everything like your mother. Film star beauty. How to wear your mother’s lipstick. You go to the bathroom to apply your mother’s lipstick. Somewhere no one can find you.
You must wear it like she wears disappointment on her face. Your mother is a woman and women like her cannot be contained. Mother dearest, let me inherit the earth. Teach me how to make him beg. Let me make up for the years he made you wait. Did he bend your reflection? Did he make you forget your own name? Did he convince you he was a god? Did you get on your knees daily? Do his eyes close like doors? Are you a slave to the back of his head?
Am I talking about your husband or your father?
