In the Visayan creation myth, Libulan was one of the four children of Lihangin, god of the wind, and Lidagat, goddess of the sea. Libulan was a cowardly individual with a body made of copper.
When his older brother, Likalibutan, launched a rebellion against their grandfather, the sky god Kaptan, Libulan joined him after being threatened. They and their other siblings were eventually struck down by Kaptan using his lightning; Libulan’s body melted into a ball. Kaptan, feeling sorry for what he did, gave Libulan’s body a light and it became the moon.
