“Never trust he who blows hot and cold with the same breath”
Is a proverb i’ve never quite understood
Isn’t she who breathes hot and cold at once
Nothing short of the most valuable friend?
It sounds like an excuse for hypocrisy but let me explain
They who breathe fire
Wreak havoc
Leaving behind them the charred remains of words spoken in rage
And they who spit ice, in turn make of the softest hearts a bitter lump of meat
Crawling with lichenmoss
Whichever one i was before i met you
Is a neat textbook figure of your mantra, mesh mohem
Because now I criticize in blizzards,
Apologize in flames,
I douse myself in kerosene joyously
Thirsting after the soothing relief of your voice through the phone, “it’s okay, don’t worry, I’ll talk to her,”
And again playing with matches when you flirt,
“I do dream about you, I just never say them because, uh- yeah...”
You burn me,
So come pay your dues and cool me down.
