we need to fucking educate people on what is and isn't okay in medical settings because it's making people afraid to get help.
i have a friend who is in an unsafe situation and she really needs help and guidance from a professional on how to deal with it. every time she's managed to open up to someone in her life the answer is always "talk to a counsellor, talk to a professional". but what does she do if she doesn't fucking trust those people? who does she turn to when the fully licensed medical professionals she's seen told her she was faking her conditions for attention? who can she trust after a psychologist tried to force her into doing hypnotism when she was entirely uncomfortable with it? the same psychologist who tried to convince her that she was making up her problems which she now has several diagnoses related to?
there needs to be a massive overhaul in how we do medicine and education. people need to know that if shit like that happens to them that they can report it, and people should be screened better before entering medical fields because people like that are a straight up danger to the people that are seeking help.
