Once his hand was healed, his main concern of course was his wife and newborn daughter. Rin...no one but them would understand the significance...Kakashi, outside of his relationship, was a very closed off man. Most of what people knew about him was quite superficial. While those that were around the same age would know of Rin's death, they didn't know how she died...and how it tied into what made Kakashi who he was today.

In a way...it felt like she had reborn and was in his wife's arms beginning to nurse for the first time.

Before he could think on it more, he was called to Sakura's side. He wasted no time going to sit with her, legs curling sideways on the bed to not shift Sakura or their daughter any, and he leaned in to nuzzle his masked nose into her hair.

He didn't even care that there was going to be a giant blood stain on the floor that he had to worry about. He was just...happy nothing had gone wrong.

It took him a moment before he let out a small chuckle.

"...I think that was the scariest moment of my life," he announced with a cheerful smile. That had probably been the closest he had ever been as an adult to having a full blown panic attack. He would never forget it.

Sakura let out a small chuckle at Kakashi’s statement. She did her best not to jostle Rin as she nursed, “I think… I have to agree. I really should have had you stay home until she was born.” Just Sakura had no idea how close to due she was until Rin decided it was her moment to be born. 

“This will be a fun story to tell her when she’s older though! She was just so excited about being born she couldn’t wait.”

In the end, everything went flawlessly. Both Sakura and Rin came out perfectly healthy. Despite Sakura having to deliver on the floor. Sakura was a bit upset that she made a mess of the floor she worked so hard to clean recently. But there was no way she could deal with that now. She was going to have to take it easy for a while as she recovered from the birth.

“I just can’t believe it… We’re both finally parents. I-i never thought I’d ever get to be a mother.”

Before she ended up with Kakashi, for the longest time she had given up on the idea of ever being with anyone. After the heartache she went through with Sasuke, she thought love just wasn’t for her. But Kakashi proved that all wrong. He never gave up on her. And now she was a happy wife and mother. Their daughter was just so beautiful. She had Kakashi’s pretty silver hair, and her bright green eyes. A perfect blend of the two of them. Though Sakura was a little disappointed, Rin didn’t end up with her pink hair. The next one maybe. Because without a doubt, Sakura wanted more kids. She was already completely in love. And she wanted to be sure her babies had better lives than they both had.

The two medics watched over Sakura as she nursed for the first time. Making sure everything was okay and that Rin was latching properly. One of the medics pulled out some paperwork and started some signing some things before holding out the papers to Kakashi,

“The birth certificate. We need you to sign off of it so we can put Rin in the system. Don’t worry Sakura, he can sign for you, considering your arms are a bit full at the moment.” The medic softly laughed. The certificate already had Rin’s name written on it. All that was needed was both parents' names listed. 

“I can’t believe how well you both did considering the circumstances. Though I hope next time you decide to have the baby in the hospital rather than on the floor.” The other medic praised.

“Trust me, it wasn’t planned like that. Rin just seemed to have other plans for us. Hopefully next one, Kakashi will be retired and we won’t have to worry about me going into labor alone.” Naruto becoming Hokage couldn’t come fast enough. She wanted Kakashi home with her. She hated how busy being Hokage made him. But at least he was able to be there for the birth. She wasn’t sure how she would have made it through alone.

Her hold on his hand was becoming more and more painful as the time went on, but he didn't say a word about it. He wasn't going to complain about how much it hurt when he knew that what she was going through was far worse. He'd heard plenty of horror stories, but actually witnessing the birth of his own child was probably more terrifying than anything else he could think of in life---and it was hitting him more and more.

Hearing her say how much it hurt only made his visage go paler---Sakura had a pain tolerance like almost no one he had ever known in his life. He knew some of that likely came from being a medic and her excellent chakra control, but also her resilient personality and adaptability. She had been an excellent student on paper, but what really had made her shine in his eyes was the way she pushed herself, even if sometimes she went too far and needed to be reminded to rest.

Since he was just as bad, he usually didn't call her out on it. As the head finally emerged into the world, he could've sworn she broke at least one of the fingers in his hand. Inwardly cursing, allowing himself to wince because Sakura couldn't outwardly see it, he still said nothing about it and continued to hold her hand. He was remarkably silent throughout this whole thing, mainly because he was trying to keep himself from passing right out on the floor and making an embarrassment of himself.

But when Sakura looked up at him, those tears in her eyes, he managed a smile---and he was excited, more than excited, but it was difficult to focus on that when he was so damn frightened in this moment. "Y-Yeah we are." His voice broke a little. Fuck---

Not long after, their baby finally born into the world, Kakashi's hand finally let go of with bruises already forming, he forced himself to try to breathe so he wouldn't end up passing out at the end like an idiot.

He wasn't calling attention to himself to be healed either. She needed it far more than him right now. But when she asked if he wanted to hold her, he gave a nervous laugh.

"Sakura, lets save that for later. I'd be afraid of dropping her right now." Admittedly, he was shaking all over as his body recovered from the intense emotional rollercoaster that was and then well...

He held up his hand which was turning various shades already.

Besides---

"I would like you to have a proper examination, both of you, before we do anything else," he hated that his voice still sounded far too high pitched to be himself. "I....I want to make absolutely sure you're both okay."

That fear, that paranoia, was still swirling in his head and chest.

Sakura felt so many different things all at once in that moment. Happy, sore, proud, and tired. Just looking down and holding their small daughter made everything she just went through so worth it. She’s wanted to be a mother for so long, and now it’s finally happened. Sure, she would have preferred to have given birth in at least a bed but she couldn’t complain too much. Both her and their daughter made it through just fine. Kakashi actually looked to be in worse shape than she was. Despite her just pushing out a whole small human. He was pale and looked close to passing out at any moment,

“I think you’re right… Take a few deep breaths. It’s over now. We’re safe.”

She tried to comfort, turning to one of the medics, “Can one of you heal his hand for me? I accidentally squeezed it too hard.” Sakura normally was good at controlling her strength after years of training but in the heat of childbirth. Focusing on her strength was the last thing on her mind. All she could focus on was getting the baby out safely and stopping the horrible pain she was going through. 

The medic that wasn’t doing an exam on her, moved over to Kakashi’s side, taking his hand and healing the bones and bruises on it. It was a quick heal compared to Sakura’s current condition.

“Do you both have a name picked out for her already?” The medic asked curiously.

A smile spread on Sakura’s lips at the question, “We do. Her name is Rin. Rin Hatake.” It was the name they agreed on if they had a girl. Sakura loved the name and it meant so much to Kakashi that she was happy to give the name to their daughter.

“What a cute name! I’ll write that down on the birth certificate for you.”

Once the medic was done, they moved back over to the other side of Sakura. Sakura was flinching a bit as she pushed out the afterbirth from her sore insides. The medic between her legs helped as best they could. Once it was out, Sakura was officially free. The birth was over. And as far as they could see, both her and the baby were perfectly healthy. 

“I’m going to pick you up, Mrs. Hatake. I want to get you to a bed rather than the floor.” The larger of the two medics informed them, putting their hand under Sakura’s legs and one under her back, they lifted her up off the ground, “Our room is through that door.” Sakura instructed, letting the medic carry her into their bedroom and lay her down on the soft bed. She shifted a bit, so she could sit up, being propped up by pillows. Rin was being held close to her chest. 

“Your wife and daughter made it through just fine, Hokage-sama. You can breathe easy.” One of the medics seemed to have noticed how pale he looked. 

“Do you need help doing your first nursing, Sakura?” Sakura’s face turned pink, the idea of exposing her breasts to strangers made her feel a little embarrassed, even if they were medics that had seen it all. She knew it was important to do a nursing right after giving birth. To teach the baby how to latch on to her and get accustomed to her milk. And it was a good way to bond with the baby. 

“M-maybe a little, can you hold Rin for a moment so I can pull my dress down?” Sakura carefully transferred the baby into the medics arms so she could lower the front of her dress down to expose her breasts. Her face turned a bright red after. The medic returned Rin back into Sakura’s arms, 

“Okay, you need to guide the baby’s mouth to your nipple, and encourage them to latch on.”

Nervously, Sakura did just that. Cradling Rin’s head as she pressed her mouth to her nipple. It took a moment or two for Rin to finally latch down onto Sakura’s breast and start nursing. It made Sakura gasp softly. It felt a bit odd but not bad. It gave her a warm, motherly feeling, 

“A-ah! She’s doing it!”

“Perfect! You’re doing wonderful!” The medic gave her the full rundown on how to nurse the baby and what to do after. Sakura was picking it up quickly, like it all came natural to her. It made her feel more and more confident as a mother,

“Kakashi, come sit with us.” Sakura looked away from Rin for a moment to look over at her husband, wanting him to sit next to her in their bed. She wanted him to be a part of the moment.

Many men said that the most frightening moments of their lives were experienced out in the battlefield. Up until now, he would've proudly said the same. The many times he had been hurt, seen weapons coming for his throat, bled until he felt sick and couldn't hold onto consciousness anymore---

All of that paled in comparison to this, as he was discovering very fast. The medics met him halfway to the house. Thankfully though, they appeared a lot less panicked than he did. Of course they did, this was their job, and their expertise. Kakashi however, was so far out of his comfort zone that he might as well be flying into outer space.

"...N-Next time, I will, I promise." He for damn sure wasn't letting this happen again. He wouldn't lie and say a part of him wasn't absolutely terrified that something was going to go horribly wrong, even worse than it had already--complications, especially, were always a possibility...and the possibilities of a lot of things happening were always higher when a woman was pregnant.

Finally reaching the house, he couldn't remember the last time he had opened his own front door with such urgency. Seeing her laying there like that, he didn't even hesitate to move to her side, making sure to stay out of the way of the medical professionals so they could tend to her.

He gripped her hand gently, knowing full well she was probably going to fracture something in his hand clamping down on him by accident and losing control of her strength, but well---

It was worth it. Entirely worth it. "You can't stop that sort of thing, Sakura," he chided quietly, but with a frightened smile. "It's okay. Just focus on breathing and doing what they ask you to do. I'm here."

And he wasn't going anywhere, even if he felt like he could pass right the fuck out on his floor at anytime.

Despite the pain she was in, Sakura felt so much more at peace the moment Kakashi’s hand clamped around her own. Her hand squeezed his but not too hard at the moment. She just kept focusing on her breathing. Feeling a lot more confident now that there were other medics in the room. There was no way she could tend to herself in the state she was in.

The medic that wasn’t between her legs kept running off to get different supplies. They brought back a basin of warm water, towels to clean and wrap the baby in, and even a pillow to place under Sakura’s head. Trying to make being on the floor a little more comfortable and she appreciated that,

“You’re doing well, Mrs. Hatake. The head is almost out.” The medic praised, “As the contraction’s come, I need you to push down as hard as you can.”

Sakura weakly nodded in response, “I-i feel one coming!” She gripped Kakashi’s hand tightly as she pushed down hard on the baby. Her eyes squeezed shut as the ache between her legs got worse and worse as more of the head started to emerge. Her poor slit was bulged outward from the head. It was already half out. Once the contraction ended, Sakura fell back against the pillow, panting,

“I-it hurts so much!” Sakura cried. She’s been impaled. Had every bone in her body broke. And yet none of it even came close to this. But it wasn’t just the pain. It was the wild rush of emotions that came with it. Stress, anxiety, and excitement over meeting her baby finally all mixed into one thing. Her hormones were all going crazy. 

“One more push and the head should be out. Just focus on your breathing.” The medic continued to instruct.

Sakura just nodded her head, continuing to breathe in and out until the next contraction came. She bore down with everything, letting out a loud cry as the pain hit it’s peak. Then suddenly, there was a sharp pop that made her gasp out as the head finally popped free from her insides. It was like instant relief from all the pain and pressure that was happening between her legs. She fell back against the pillow again panting. Sakura was gripping Kakashi’s hand for dear life. It was impressive that she hadn’t crushed it yet.

“Yes! Perfect! The head is out! You’re doing amazing! Just relax for a moment and when the contractions start again, I need you to do slow, shallow pushes to get the body out. Your baby is almost here, Mrs. Hatake.” The medic was cradling the head as it hung between her legs. The other medic had towels ready for the arrival of the baby. 

“K-kakashi… Kakashi she’s almost here… We’re finally going to be parents.” Sakura looked up at him through tear filled eyes. She just felt so overwhelmingly excited and more determined than ever to get this baby out of her. After nine long months of waiting. She’ll finally get to meet their baby.

“I-i can feel another contraction coming!”

“Good! Now push!” The medic instructed, readying themself to guild the baby safely out.

Just like she was asked, Sakura gave shallow pushes. Feeling the shoulders emerge out of her one by one. Within the next push, the body slide out and the medic was able to pull the baby out. Their daughter let out a cry of life once she was free. The medic quickly cleaned the baby with the warm water and cut the cord that connected them. Once done, the baby was wrapped up and gently placed into Sakura’s arms. 

“Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Hatake on your healthy baby girl.”

Sakura held their baby close to her body, admiring how beautiful their daughter came out. Pretty silver hair like Kakashi’s paired with her bright green eyes, “Oh Kakashi… Look at her. She’s so perfect.” Now she was all teary eyed over a much different reason than pain. She just felt so happy. Everything she went through was all worth it now. Sakura felt proud of herself for being able to give birth to such a healthy baby. Out of all the things she’s accomplished, this was the one she was most proud of,

“You’re going to have to take it easy for a few weeks for your body to recover.” The medic explained, helping clean up Sakura and ease the afterbirth out. Using their chakra to help heal her a bit and ease in the soreness.

“Oh don’t worry, I don’t plan on going back to work any time soon. And I doubt Kakashi would let me anyway.” She looked up at him with a playful smile. Sakura was in no rush to get back into the office. She wanted to spend some time being a stay at home mom. To have time to bond with their daughter. And she wanted to breastfeed their baby naturally. She didn’t like the idea of simply bottle feeding.

“Do you want to hold her? I know you’ve been looking forward to this day as much as I have.” Sakura offered their baby to him, now that things had calmed down.

Honestly, this had been part of the reason he had been increasingly worried about leaving her home alone while he was at work. He didn't have a lot of medical knowledge, but even he knew that sometimes these things happened and there was no controlling it once it did. When a baby wanted out, it was going to come out no matter how much you tried to fight pushing. It just wasn't possible to stop it.

But she had insisted over and over again that she didn't need someone with her all the time, that someone checking on her a few times a day would be enough....and he had let her have that because she was the medical professional and she definitely knew better than he did didn't she?

They were both inexperienced and stupid---

"I'll be there!" He shouted without meaning to. "Stay on the phone with me---" He definitely hadn't meant to just scare the shit out of people he'd been meeting with. When he got the call, he had known that it would be important--Sakura rarely called him like this unless it was important, especially because she knew his schedule full well--so he had stepped away a moment to answer it.

"Is something wrong---" The official asked as Kakashi darted past him. "Hokage-sama--"

"We'll finish it later. Sakura's in labor." He had never imagined himself losing his cool like this, but how was a man to imagine how he would react in this situation? Well and truly?

He caught a brief glimpses of pale faces as he darted to the window. "Someone send a doctor to my house now!" He shouted as he lept right out of the window to head there himself--

"I'm on my way Sakura!" He told her through the phone line, trying not to sound as panicked even though she had definitely heard all of his shouting. "One minute, okay? Breathe!"

Sakura felt so stupid.

She should have listened to Kakashi in the first place but she didn’t want to get in the way of his work. And she truly didn’t think the baby wasn’t going to come until next week. But here she was now, laying on the floor in pain. Legs spread, fighting not to push until Kakashi got there. Sakura was just so scared. This was her first baby. All of this was new. They both didn’t have the experience to know better.

She really should have had Kakashi take time off until the baby was born. So she wouldn’t be alone like this,

“K-kakashi… I-it hurts so much… I-i don’t think I can hold back anymore. I-i need to push!!”

With the next contraction she did just that. Following her body’s instincts. Sakura let out a strained sound into the phone as she pushed, feeling the baby sink down inside her. Stretching her open. This pain was unlike anything she ever felt before. It was intense, and spread through her whole body. But she knew it was all worth it in the end.

When she stopped pushing she breathed like Kakashi told her to. In and out. In and out. Trying to focus on that rather than the pain she was in. 

“N-next baby, you’re sooo staying home! I’m not doing this again!”

It was so humiliating to be giving birth to her first baby on the floor. But there was no way she could get up and move now. The baby was too far along. Kakashi could only helplessly listen as Sakura pushed again, as she let out pained whines as the baby got closer and closer to crowning. Her entrance spreading open to expose the silver hair of their baby.

Once she stopped her pushing, she went back to doing the breathing exercises Kakashi was instructing her to do. Doing his best to support her through the phone as he made his way to the house with the medics as fast as he could.

By the time Kakashi and the medics burst into the house, Sakura was pushing again, bringing the head of the baby to a full crown, making her cry out from the burning pain. She just dropped the phone seeing him come inside. Sakura was laying on the living room floor, dress pulled up exposing her lower half. Tears and sweat rolling down her face. She looked so pained and scared.

The medics quickly rushed over to her. One between her legs and the other at her side checking her vitals to make sure she was stable, then pulling out a cloth to help wipe away some sweat from her forehead. They were all impressed she managed to get this far on her own. Sakura reached out to Kakashi with a trembling hand, 

“K-kakashi… Hold my hand, please. Our b-baby is almost here. I tried so hard to hold back as long as I could.” In the end, she couldn’t fight what the baby wanted. It wanted out and there was nothing she could do to stop it. Sakura was just glad Kakashi could be here for her for the rest of the delivery. She wanted him to be here when the baby fully entered the world. This was something they both wanted and worked towards. They were finally going to become parents. Start the family they always wanted. Give their children the lives they weren’t allowed to have. 

This made everything Sakura was going through completely worth it. Even if she was embarrassed by the state she was in currently.

Sakura has always had a high pain tolerance. Ever since she trained with Tsunade. So when she started getting hit with painful cramping, she thought nothing of it. She thought they were just false contractions. After all, their baby wasn’t due until next week. So in her mind, it couldn’t be that. 

But as the day continued on, the cramps got worse. More intense. Painful enough it was starting to affect her. A layer of sweat coated her body. It was getting harder and harder for her to do her usual house chores. As the pains got closer together. Sakura started to worry this was the real thing. That she was actually in labor. This was her first baby. How could she possibly know the difference between false contractions and real contractions? Even with all of her medical knowledge, it was much different to read about verse being in the moment of it. Books didn’t at all prepare her for just how painful it was. 

Being impaled by swords was nothing compared to this. This pain shook her to her very core. She could hardly stand up. 

Just as she leaned against one of the living room chairs, she felt a sudden drop inside her, and then a pop. Fluid gushed out of her and onto the floor. Sakura’s eyes widened with shock and horror as she felt the heavy weight of the baby’s head trying to push through her hip bones. Spreading them apart.

The baby was coming, and coming fast. And Kakashi wasn’t going to be home for several more hours. She had to call him right now! There was no way she could deliver this baby on her own!

Cradling her stomach, and resisting the urge to push, Sakura scrambled around trying to find the phone, cursing as she did. When she finally grabbed it, she dialed Kakashi’s number with trembling fingers and urgency. The moment he answered, she yelled into the phone,

“K-kakashi! M-my water broke! The baby is coming right now! I-i’m too far along! I-i can’t make it to a hospital! I need you here! Ngh!” 

Sakura dropped the phone and fell to her knees in the hallway. On the way to their room. It was getting harder and harder to resist pushing. She ripped off her panties, and pushed fingers inside her. Feeling that she was fully dilated, and the baby’s head was inching down. Tears rolled down her flushed face,

“K-kakashi, please hurry up…” If he didn’t, she would end up having the baby alone. Right there on the floor. And that wasn’t at all how she imagined the birth of their first baby would go. She felt so stupid for not calling sooner. She should have known those pains were the sign of labor! But how could she have guessed their baby would decide to come a week early?

"I got the drinks.. I hope Lady Tsunade doesnt mind us getting some liquor." He grinned, placing the drink down on the table by them. "Long way from home."

“That sounds interesting. Did you learn anything cool reading the paperwork? Not that I want to know anything classified. Never really got to spend a lot of time with the Hokage.” Jake answered, rubbing his neck a little bit. He grinned brightly to the other ninja, sipping his drink.

“She has a special stash? Maybe we can ask for some of that as a payment. See what the legendary gambler drinks.” He teased, leaning back as he finished his drink, starting to pour another.

“Not really, just boring politic stuff and inventory checkers. I fell asleep a few times doing the paperwork it was so dry and boring. Glad I’m just a back up hokage and not a real one.” She’d be really out of luck if something happened to the current hokage and she had to take the role. It’s such a boring job. She’d rather be a medic.

Sakura finished her own drink and poured herself another, “I doubt she’d hand it over. She’s possessive of her booze. I’m not about to get murdered just for some alcohol.” No matter how strong Sakura gets she still fears her old teacher.
