The lotus flower was considered sacred by ancient Egyptians because of its ability to bloom again after years of lying dormant in a drought.

The image of the lotus flower symbolizes spiritual elevation and expansion. It is difficult to find a country in Asia where the lotus is not considered sacred.

The purity represented by the flower and even the association with the Buddha, is in allusion to the germination process of the flower that emerges from muddy waters to the surface and when blooms shows all its beauty and strength, opening the pristine white flowers.

Grown in flooded areas, the lotus flower grows easily in virtually all of Asia. It can be grown in pots immersed, lakes, water mirrors and garden ponds. Being an aquatic plant, watering exemption and requires fertilization only once a year. Needs full sun most of the day and is very sensitive to frost. Its shaft was very long, can reach more than 1 meter above the water level.

In India, the image of the flower is related to the creation of the universe. Look at the pictures Indian gods often appear seated or standing on the flower, as is the case of representations of Ganesha, Lakshmi and Shiva.
