"at least you're brave. considering the only reason you're still standing is because of sunny." her wolf snapped its teeth at her ribs, urging her to lunge at the man insulting her boyfriend. he knew that, when he was with sunny later, he'd get those big stupid blue eyes staring at him with that stupid expression on his face, and north would apologize, like he always did. now, though, he was having fun. sue him, for being a problem. his parents must have known that they couldn't get three completely kind children. "a little bitch? wow, i've never heard that one before." his nose wrinkled, a mannerism the moore children shared. "i'm a twitch streamer. people are mean to be for a living, and my brother's famous. you gotta be meaner than that."

"Didn't we go through it all already?" The blonde released a gentle groan of irritation as her slumber was disrupted by her boyfriend. Could she even really call him that? They hadn't said it, but she figured it was implied by how many days she slept over versus how many she didn't. "Which is why I need to get as much sleep as possible," Peaches exhaled, butterfly lashes flickering open and up at the boy above her. "What did you do this time? Do I need to do damage control?" A hand went up to delicately caress his jawline, her lower lip pressing into a plump pout.

“you can sleep in the car while i’m driving us,” he laughed, pressing his forehead against hers. north had always been sickeningly sweet when it came to peach. maybe they hadn’t actually talked about it yet, but that certainly hadn’t stopped him from telling his family they were dating. he leaned into her touch like a damn cat, smiling as he shrugged. “eh, i like giving sunny shit. she doesn’t really like that.” his nose scrunched, amusement pulling at his mouth. “maybe you should do some damage control before she throws me into the lake.” he snickered.

he was so fucking bad at this shit. "hey, rue, you gotta stop tweaking out, man." north rubbed at the back of his neck and sighed. "you're not ruining shit. you're fine. sunny's fine. you're both fine."

the laugh that escaped him was loud and obnoxious, and he had to admit that he felt surprised that he'd immediately snapped back. north loved that. he crowded his space immediately, spinning on his heels and following eli as the other man pushed past. "it that obvious? have you looked into a mirror lately? i'm not gonna hide it. unless you like when people play hard to get, 'cause i can do that too."

What was she doing?

She knew the truth, saw his bloodied knuckles, and cleaned up the glass he left behind. Evie ended it, led them off his trail. It’d been as much to protect him as herself. This wasn’t sustainable. She couldn’t keep up appearances and continue giving a fake story. Still, when he called, she’d been on the street and fogging up the windows of his car without hesitation. They moved forward, or so she told herself. “Don’t thank me yet,” the brunette breathed against warm lips. He’d twisted into the fiber of her being, pumping through an empty vessel. Evie echoed without him. “You’re on thin ice.” A warning for both of them: she needed to be strong, and he needed to be smart. “But fuck, I missed you,” she submitted momentarily, pulling him back into her heat.

"i know, angel," he mumbled against her mouth, pulling back just a fraction. in the dim glow of the street lighting, she looked heavenly. if he pretended, they both could have been back in new york, before everything changed. before he changed. however, time could not be erased, and they both needed to live with the consequences. "tell me," scarred hands brushed the hair away from her face with a smile. "tell me what you need, and i'll do it. whatever. whatever i need to do to win back your trust, i'll do it."

"hey, wake up," he mumbled, brushing golden locks away from her cheeks. "the whole moore family trip thing is in a few hours and i wanna make sure we have everything." a beat, and then his grin widens. "n' i feel like i gotta warn you that i pissed off my brother's girlfriend and i don't want you to catch strays."
