In my ever increasing journey to get more comfy with my OC and my eventual OC/insert Story project, I've been getting art of Quill.

This is going to be a LONG LONG post cause I'm including art and tagging who I can tag.

Most of said art is by @yamiyamiart and as delightful as it is, it's not something I can post to tumblr XD

But I can share the Rayleigh x Quill one since it's merely suggestive xD 😇❤️ (And a Kid x Quill that I am pretty sure was the first thing I comm'd from Yami when I was still hesitant to throw my smutty ideas at someone)

Today I go an adorable piece by @aholepeach (who is that on bluesky and a_hole_peach on Twit). He pulled me in with his comics, and I love the kind of grimy soft vibe of his art.

(It's beautiful and skrunky - it has a weight to it that's present both in the body and the emotions, and I just really love it.)

@magnuspool also helped me out back before I even knew Quill was going to be named Quill. I had naught to give this art goddess by a handful of words and a very very smol idea.

I love everything about Mags, and the amount of nervousness I had approaching her for art would probably surprise a lot of you. She's super cool though, and a delight to work with. If you catch her comms open, don't be shy!

Polizon from twitter did a really great job with the composition on the request I had - aside from some direction on Quill I didn't provide any other references ^_^

I just love that they're both very much capable fighters AND researchers. (What can I say, Fullmetal Alchemist was one of my first absolute favorite animes and you have to train the body AND mind.)

Last, but by no means least, is @stevienix - who took a waist up Pic crew for reference and gave me a nice full body for Quill ^_^ (I cannot overstate how much I need those boots in my life.)

She's an IRL friend, we've broke bread together so show her some love, and be nice while you're there too.

One Piece Academy is an ongoing official One Piece spinoff that releases in Monthly Saikyo Jump. In the magazine, the chapters are roughly 40 pages, but they're divided into two parts and released bimonthly on the official site.

You can find chapters 1-32 translated unofficially in several manga piracy sites [x]. Raws for 33 onwards can be found here.

Like most spinoffs, the original author isn't involved in its writing. However, it has been confirmed that Oda himself decided the nicknames exchanged between characters (Cora and the SHs) in this particular subplot.

Doffy and Corazon's Parents

I feel like I'm the only person I've seen who interprets the Donquixote parents –specifically Homing– the way I do? Most people can pick up on the fact that he's well-intentioned and loves his wife and children enough to lay down his life trying to protect Doffy and Cora, and I've seen a decent number of people also note that he fails as a parent to properly address Doffy's sadism/aggression/antisocial behaviour and Celestial-Dragon-Programming in ways that would actually help him live a healthy, normal life after the family left Mariejois. He's sheltered and lives in a bubble (quite literally considering that leaving Mariejois involves taking off the insulating helmet that keeps you from breathing the same air as ordinary people) and he's horrified at the prospect that the people he idealizes and wants to be like hold genuine spite towards the Celestial Dragons in ways that he can't just hope to avoid by telling the victims of his former peers that he's left all of that behind.

That being said though, I noticed while rewatching Dressrossa that as much as Homing talks about the "honesty" of living as a human and the hollowness of Celestial Dragon society, he never seems to grasp that his peers are *evil*. He thinks of their immense wealth and privilege and the city of Mariejois itself as superficial, and clearly views his peers as misguided and shallow, but he never seems to explicitly condemn the actual atrocities they regularly commit or address it in his home; even though he thinks of himself as morally superior to his peers for choosing a comparatively less opulent and less abusive lifestyle, he doesn't seem genuinely bothered by Doffy repeatedly, loudly expressing his desire to own slaves as they're unpacking. He never bothers to tell his children that his peers are wrong, and the language he uses to condemn his peers excess never actually addresses their cruelty, just his general distaste for their excess and opulence. He doesn't do anything to intervene or apologize when Doffy expresses the same views in public in front of the very people he ostensibly idealizes enough to want to be like. He announces his status right off the bat and allows his child to loudly call for the deaths of people who cross his path without ever apologizing or expressing anything beyond mild discomfort. Even when he leaves Mariejois, he's given much nicer lodgings than most of his neighbours and a decent amount of money and treasure to boot and doesn't seem to want for anything.

Essentially, the outlook Donquixote Homing holds towards humans isn't so much genuine disillusionment with the class he was born into as it is something akin to poverty tourists or orientalist expats who think they're morally superior to and more in tune with the locals than their peers. The subaltern humans exist to him mostly as an aestheticized ideal before they register as people with complex emotions and severe traumas that his peers inflict on them for shits and giggles. He doesn't even seem to register the depths of the harm that people like him have inflicted enough to even fathom that these quaint little people he used to hold power over truly hate and fear them until it's far too late to protect himself or his family.

Aging is *literally* the process of your body breaking down like an ancient and damaged machine. It's the epitome of the REAL definition of "degeneration" and people act like it's some sort of "beautiful natural process" no bitch it's literally a disease. It's a built-in kill switch your body has and science has proven this kill switch can be turned off with the right treatments.

Same goes for death itself. "Natural" body death can also be stopped with the right treatments - in fact, there's a lot of overlap between anti-aging treatments that could exist in the next couple decades and the anti-death treatments that could show up in a similar amount of time.

senescence is caused primarily by the shortening of telomeres, which are long tails of A-T pairs at the end of DNA molecules. they shorten over time because every time DNA is replicated, which is every time a cell divides*, a little bit gets missed; over time this ends with DNA degradation and, therefor, aging (senescence).

there is an enzyme known as telomerase which can hypothetically repair telomeres. lobsters happen to produce their own telomerase and don't undergo senescence the same way we do. however, in every study i have personally read and in what seems to be a general consensus in the scientific community, hTERT (human telomerase reverse transcriptase, a subunit of human telomerase) being activated (we do have a gene that will produce it!)... leads to cancer. like, do not pass go, do not collect $200, hTERT running around in a human body does not "biologically immortalize" them, it just causes a fuckton of cancer, because in humans hTERT also interacts with a bunch of other shit and causes (potentially) the degradation of the extracellular matrices and therefor increased metastasization (bad), inflammation, unchecked replication, and malignance.

so. the one enzyme, as of current, that could prevent senescence in humans... is just kind of a fuckin' "Get Cancer Now!" cheat code. (we actually use it to make immortal cell cultures! immortal human cell cultures are all cancer.)
