Make sure you have everything necessary to do taxes! And a couple random things to have on hand: copy of his orders, SSN memorized, address for care packages. Write some letters for him to take with him! Pinterest has so many “open when” letter idea I used while my guy was in ranger school. When you can’t talk 24/7 it’s so nice to have something to read.

also when he gets mail theres no guarnteed that he will get it in the order that you mailed it out so numbered/date the mail. also, he will probably have people around him when he's opening mail so just be careful/mindful of what you send. honestly there's a lot I could say but I don't wanna spam your inbox lol but if you need any more tips I'll be glad to help!

Like I said, I have a literal year to prepare for this so I’m sure we’ll get all our ducks in a row before that, especially since I’m starting now. take photos and print them off at drug stores and mailed that to him in letters or carepackages. yes, you can send photos online but when the ship goes rivercity, he will love holding a physical photo of you since its the cloest he can get to you. try to send one care package a month, usps supplies the boxes free of charge but shipping fee varies on what size you get. mail packages 2-3weeks ahead for special (holi)days that he'll miss, monday-wednesday is the best day to mail things for usps

you got pretty much everything covered. one tip is to keep yourself busy during deployment! I know it sucks that he's gone(I've been through 2 navy deployments so I get it) but keeping yourself busy will make the time go by faster and give yall something to talk about besides the typical "I miss you" chat. give yourself a reward for every month of deployment passes but its ok every once in a while to have a "im sad that he's gone so lets eat ice cream" day but DON'T MAKE THAT A DAILY THING!

Deployment checklist!

Hey guys,

My husband’s ship is planning on going on deployment sometime next year (I know it’s early in advance but I’m an anxious mess on the regular so I need to prepare super early to be comfortable lol). So I was hoping any spouses that have gone through a deployment can fill me in on some stuff that I should take care of before he leaves. I have a list of stuff like: set up power of attorney, passwords and access to his bank information so bills are paid on time, get vehicle registrations/inspections/oil changes up to date, confirm DEERS and TriCare, etc. But i figured I might as well take any advice I can get from people who have been through it.
