i obviously hate cishet transphobes but i absolutely fucking despise transphobic lgb people. like you have to be a special kind of brain dead monster to go through bigotry and the fear of death and violence and then turn around and do the same to others. the same with racist lgbt people. trans people of color BUILT this community and you fucking demons have the fucking nerve to bask in what they did for you while spitting in their faces
lesbians: *makes jokes about how certain hairstyles n clothing are a part of lesbian culture*
every gnc straight women in the vicinity: âhi, straight girl here! yes i have a shaved head and yes i wear plaid and guess what! im still straight. itâs almost like how u look doesnt reflect ur sexuality?? i love men and i love combat boots too! theyâre comfortable! how dare u say that makes me a dyk- i mean lesbian?!â
I know a lot of lesbians that used to identify as bi who worried that coming out as a lesbian would contribute to invalidating bisexuality in some way, by making it seem like a âstepping stoneâ to coming out as gay. Iâve also known bi women who identified as lesbians and changed their labels later, and worried that they were contributing to some kind of idea about how men can ~turn lesbians. I just wanted to say that itâs no individual lesbian or bi womenâs responsibility to fix straight peopleâs perceptions of us. Like, itâs not your duty to serve as a political symbol! Itâs your duty to find happiness even if that means changing ur label at some points.
Part of me is like âI want a strong woman to hold me and take care of meâ and another part of me is like âI want to be a strong woman and hold and take care of a girlâ and the great thing about lesbianism is that I can have both
after realising youâre gay itâs truly a never ending series of âoh i used to do/feel that because iâm gayâ. it really never ends
Told one of my friends that I unfriended my homophobic/transphobic uncle on facebook before coming out and they responded with âbut how can you open his mind that way?â so just a reminder:
My job is to exist. My job is to be happy. My job is not to educate, I am willing to help you educate yourself, but above all else, it is my job to find peace that Iâve wanted for years. If someone does not make me feel good, why should I have to be a part of their life? I do not have to suffer so that others can grow. A blooming garden is not expected to keep itâs vines and weeds, so why am I?
âI do not have to suffer so that others can grow.â Remember, it is not the responsibility, (nor can it be), of the oppressed to educate their oppressors.
âronald reagans grave is a gender neutral bathroomâ is the most powerful sentence Iâve ever readÂ
Would you mind elaborating on the âwanting to be a lesbian is a symptom of being a lesbianâ thing? Sorry to bug you. It just caught my eye and now Iâm curious
what i mean by that is that many repressed or questioning lesbians donât think they can be a lesbian for whatever reason, but they want to be. theyâre drawn to the word lesbian, lesbian culture, and lesbians in general. they dread the idea that theyâll have to settle down with a man eventually. they wish they could be a lesbian so that theyâll have a reason to not be with men, but they think theyâre not cool or brave enough, or that maybe they could possibly, theoretically love a guy at some point so calling themselves a lesbian would be wrong. so to all those questioning wlw out there, iâm telling you right now: if you want to be a lesbian, youâre probably a lesbian. youâre allowed to be a lesbian.Â
hot take but transphobia and homophobia are inexorably linked and saying âthis thing is transphobic, not homophobic!â or âthis thing is homophobic, not transphobic!â is absolutely useless in most contexts. jokes about how ugly and weird âmen in dressesâ, jokes about someone breaking gender roles, jokes about someone looking like the âoppositeâ gender⌠legislation saying that two people of the same legal sex cannot get married or adopt⌠trans people of every orientation and cis gay people face so many of the same problems!
thatâs WHY itâs LGBT! itâs why gay people and straight trans people work together! because homophobia and transphobia and intertwined and linked and you cannot dismantle one without dismantling the other! ignoring either homophobia or transphobia in favor of the other is missing the point!
me as a 12 year old: yeah, women are just objectively more beautiful. like its just true. women are always more attractive than men, thems the facs. it is nature, godâs will, if you may. i am heterosexual.
i dont care if theres a genetic basis for being gay. i dont care if trans peopleâs brains resemble their gender. i donât care. can we please stop focusing on answering why people arent cishet and more on how to actually stop homophobia and transphobia? because going out of our way to show that trans and gay people are weird variants on ânormalâ cishets isnât helping.
âŞwhy are cishet people so insistent on âsolvingâ gayness and transness anyway? why not just accept us how we are. howâs that for a conceptâŹ
nobody is trying to figure out why people are cis and het, itâs accepted as the norm! why are we not treating transness and gayness the same way? itâs homophobia and transphobia!
thereâs no need to diagnose transness and gayness! absolutely none!
Straight people are obsessed with whether or not theyâre the one who turned someone gay, like Iâve met a couple men who are like âI think I might be why youâre a lesbianâ or âis your dad the reason youâre a lesbianâ and Iâd just like to say to all those men, yes. Youâre the reason Iâm a lesbian, you singlehandedly showed me how vastly disappointing men are actually
So I just heard about âPrimed: The Back Pocket Guide for Trans Men and the Men Who Dig Them.â Itâs the first sexual health resource written by and for gay, bi and queer trans men/ transmasculine people, put out by Rainbow Health Ontario, and itâs a very frank guide that answers basically any questions you might have about safer sex. Theyâve released it for free download here.
A similar guide geared towards trans women/ transfeminine people (though not really sexual orientation specific) is âBRAZEN: Trans Womenâs Safer Sex Guide.â
^^^
Good morning gay sex is completely healthy and natural and gay people shouldnât have to feel dirty or ashamed for having or wanting sex. Itâs healthy and natural for a girl to fantasise about having sex with another girl, or for a boy to fantasise about having sex with another boy, and they arenât predatory for doing so â¨
To any trans women and transfeminine followers of mine, did you know thereâs a pretty huge Etsy store which does gaff underwear and swimsuits specifically designed for trans people amongst its products? They go in a pretty decent range of sizes, including sizes for young girls, and while I do not personally know anyone who has used them, thereâs a fuckton of positive reviews on the Etsy store. They have a ton of colours to choose from, different fabric choices, the works.
And for once theyâre not marked âfor crossdressersâ too, they actually under âtransgenderâ, so thatâs (depressingly) unusual.
Iâm mostly posting this because Iâve seen a lot of younger people recently in particular saying they never knew what gaffs were⌠a lot of people find them WAY MORE comfortable and convenient than tucking, so I would recommend looking into them if youâve never done so before!
And even if you yourself donât use or need this stuff, do pass this kind of info on to any friends of yours that might, guys! Thereâs always like a million more PSAs about transmasc stuff as opposed to transfem stuf tbhâŚ
