Hey there! Just a friendly reminder/PSA from your friendly neighborhood Pixiemage!

“Dead Dove: Do Not Eat” is too often (incorrectly) used as a cover-all tag, on fics ranging from Vaguely Uncomfortable to Serious Shit, as a replacement for any intense tags relating to the story. People will use it to say “Holy shit guys some INTENSE SHIT happens in this story” without actually saying what that Intense Shit™ is.

In actuality, the “Dead Dove” tag is meant to be used in addition to other warning tags. Pulled from a scene from the show Arrested Development (look it up on YouTube!), it means “Hi! Hey! I labeled this fic to warn you of what’s in it, so you might REALLY want to read those labels! This fic is exactly what it says on the tin! The tags are accurate! Don’t say I didn’t warn you, because this is me warning you! Read the tags!”

So before you accidentally use the “Dead Dove: Do Not Eat” tag without context, here’s your preemptive lesson for next time. Please tag your fics accordingly! Ta!

the collection is closed right now (since the week hasn't started yet) but once it opens, there'll be a button labelled "post to collection"! it'll look like this:

clicking on the button will open the page to post a fic, just like if you'd clicked on "new work"! this way, it will have the relevant information already filled out for you.

alternatively, you can also add the collection manually (once it's open) when posting or editing a fic, here (under "associations"):

once the collection is open, you should get it as a suggestion when posting something if you just type in "perfectworldshipping week," but if not, you can enter the collection url like in the above screenshot, and post your fic as normal; it will be taken into account even if AO3 doesn't recognize it (it's a somewhat frequent AO3 glitch.)

I am so glad you like my sad tortured Sycamore <333 I love you saying seeing him turn out like that has the same effect as seeing L on screen. Because I lovvvvveeee making parallels between them. I am so interested in the idea of Sycamore becoming a mirror of Lysandre in the XY period by the time ZA rolls around. Not like. End the world as a drawn out suicide plot spiraling. But certainly in the pits of despair and having that same experience of either no one noticing or no one stepping in, either bc he has detached himself enough from most people who know him well enough to notice or bc he is good enough at putting on a front or bc no one quite knows how to approach him. Just. Lysandre viewing Sycamore as the ideal of humanity and in the depths of his despair aiming to end a world that would eventually take away Sycamore's hope and vibrancy, and in that attempt managing to do exactly that, and leave Sycamore on his own, cursed to face the same silent struggle that led Lysandre down that path in the first place. I think if L remembered him at all he would be. Horrified. Rightfully. I love tragic parallels 🙏

And anyways I see your "I don't really ship prfr, but-" and I raise you. My secret is that I don't actually really ship them either. I'm a fraud. They've got weird undiscussed queer platonic codependency vibes to me. I think Lysandre is the most aromantic man in the world (<- projecting). I just keep using the ship tag bc it's the easiest way to get across that I'm exploring their interpersonal relationship and I don't really mind if people do interpret them romantically. But yeah they do have just. Such divorced vibes either way lol. Anyways. Go forth and enjoy them in whatever ways you see fit o7

OUGHHHHHH ALL OF THIS YEAHHH. I love those parallels you mentioned oh my goodness... delightfully tragic!!!!!! Everything you've mentioned of Sycamore is so so intriguing. I LIKE. I've always liked the thought of XY Lysandre being alone in his own head, and whilst no one's fault but his own... being allowed to plunder almost? Seeing the same in Sycamore is!!! Yummy!!!! L would be horrified, for sure.

AND LOL. I think I see Lysandre as aro also? Or maybe, with such singular focus on his goals he hasn't bothered with anything beyond friendships and connections that... grew distant as he spiralled more. I reckon the reason I was lukewarm to the ship was because I was lukewarm on "bright and idealistic" Sycamore (on top of lukewarm to his appearance hahaha 😂), but seeing Sycamore mourn and grieve and change is really fun.

I'm still mulling over a L/Lysandre and loneliness comic (Maybe. Idk yet). Tempted to make the ending just a bit more hopeful, with an open ended Sycamore /reunion with people who cared for him back then and still do. Do you mind if I draw your Sycamore for it LOL 😂

Give me Sycamore slowly resigning to his fate as he feels like no one saved lysandre- he didn't save lysandre- and no one is going to save him
