I always find it weird when someone who has intellectual disability is open about it and instead of being Normal about it, everyone floods to reply with "oh IQ is bullshit anyway!" "I'm sure you're smart in other ways!" "oh lots of people just process things slowly and everyone thinks that means you're stupid but Acutally you just learn differently!"
and it's just. why are people so determined to erase a genuine disability? is it because they see it as horrible and negative? why can't disabled people just Be. like why is someone worse because of having intellectual disability? why do people always want to ignore it?
especially the replies like "oh they made me do testing and my IQ is 140 but I still struggled in school and work because of my ADHD, so really IQ means nothing in the Real World" yes IQ testing has lots of issues! doesn't mean intellectual disability isn't real! also those two experiences are in no way comparable holy shit
I think honestly people don’t truly understand ID. I get these comments ALL the time on my posts when I talk about having ID.
People just don’t get it. It’s more than struggling in school. I have mild ID, plus learning disabilities, plus higher support needs autism. I was pulled out of school because I was too disabled for school to handle me and alternative schools were too expensive.
When I tell people that when I was younger, I was to disabled for school, it’s mixed reactions of “that isn’t possible” and “but you’re not like that now”. People don’t understand that ID DOES affect your life, and often more than just “oh I struggle in school”. It’s special education. It’s segregation. It’s doctors not taking you seriously. It’s constant supervision. It’s constant abuse, neglect, isolation, separation, etc etc. it’s constant this or that.
ID is more than struggling in school, and that needs to be more talked about.
I was pulled out of school for being to disabled and homeschooled. I’m at a 5th grade math level. I’m even lower in other subjects. I don’t understand History, English, etc etc. I hate that people downplay ID. I hate that people don’t think it’s serious. I don’t think it’s fair that people think it’s “just struggling in school” cause it’s so much more than that. My life was affected.
Stop downplaying it. Stop saying it’s nothing, cause it’s everything. It affects everything. People without ID truly don’t understand ID and downplay it and it infuriates me.
Sorry if this is a rant OP, I’m just sharing my experience of having ID. If this is to much, then please let me know.

Too much of the Taylor Swift conversation surrounds private jets and not enough acknowledge the fact that her cheap ass merch is being made possible by slave work in honduras. Which I think is actually useful information for people thinking of buying her merch.

@ramdomartkid asked: What are your fav panels so far? :3
Man, that's tough. For now, let's pick two per Act - the funniest panels, and the prettiest panels. You'll have to click through them manually, as Tumblr got a little quirky with the formatting.
I'll leave Act 5 until it's over - mostly because Act 5 has so many amazing panels, we're going to need a full post. You can really see how Hussie developed the comic's style over time.

magical classism/fantasy politics: the megapost
[ID: a screenshot of cassiopeia casting the manna in ni no kuni: wrath of the white witch. overlaid on top of the image is impact font text which reads “this will affect the / engineering industry i think”. end ID]
good evening everyone. i’m ruby sweetpea-sprite. i’m so fucking normal about ni no kuni’s fake politics. i refuse to be the only one so here i am creating a megapost about every little piece of lore about it so that others can join me. if you’re new here: um. welcome. kublai was a diversity hire. more on that later!
for a summary: non-magical people have been oppressed since nazcaa fell, due to sages being in power and refusing to let them develop their own technology, as they “believe it to be against the gods” (and want to keep their societal power). this, ultimately, culminated into a large reason why lucien became shadar and banned magic. the goal of this post is to compile evidence for these events like some kind of fictional history lesson. it is a long fucking post.
this post will be in sections because it’s a long fucking post. recommended reading before we start, though i will be including quotes so you don’t gotta (though tbh you should read the tales of wonder anyway. for fun): the tenth tale of wonder, the flying machine.
have fun!
