update update update: the bot is, most certainly, live! Still haven't written an intro post, but here's the most common three questions:

Does it take requests?

Yeah, sometimes! Mention @samplerbot in a reblog or a comment on a post, and it may get samplerified. No promises, though.

Can I stitch these?

Yeah for sure! Check the pattern repository for PDFs-- in color, in black-and-white, and for Pattern Keeper. PDFs get made as I (the dev, not the bot) have time, so usually around every other week or three.

Is this like an GenAI thing?

Not on your life! It's all handmade borders (mostly either by me or adapted from the Antique Pattern Library) and handwritten code. Fonts are credited, too-- they're all either freeware, donationware, open source, et cetera, and are being used within the limits of their specific licenses. god bless dafont user Jeti in particular, they've made some bangers.

Continuing to chip away at the backlog-- another four samplers have been patternified!

Number two is a glitch, but I have made a pattern for it nonetheless... Samplerbot's glitches are some of my personal favorite things it makes!

Also, I fixed an error where I forgot to include the base pixel art for the samplers in the last batch, so I went and added those back in; if you downloaded any of these samplers, go back and redownload them and the pixel art will be there now! And you have my apologies for the error.

Since Samplerbot is still a long, long way away from being able to be used by others, downloading the raw pixel art is the best way for people to access its borders. So if you see a border you'd like to repurpose, know that you have my official blanket permission to use and remix it anywhere for anything!

Samplerbot's Bot Dev popping in with an update--

The Pattern Repository is currently far, far out of date: Samplerbot makes designs, but it can't actually make patterns or PDFs, so I do those manually when I have the time. And, well, I've been dealing with busyness and burnout, so I haven't had that time 😥 They'll be up, though, eventually-- I think things are finally calming down here on my end, knock on wood ✊💥💥🪵

I saw Samplerbot had some new glitches, and have put them in the Glitch Gallery; not sure how 'm edievaltorturestyl e' happened, I wouldn't have thought that one was possible given how Samplerbot handles text and line breaks, but the numbered list one was a quick fix.

Back before the burnout hit I did add another feature, though: if you would like to request a sampler containing just a part of a post, you can do that now! Formatting the request isn't a concern; just @samplerbot and say which quote you'd like, and when the bot goes to queue it it'll run it by me and I'll make sure it's only samplerifying the words it should be.

Will try and knock out at least a few of the PDFs over this next weekend-- and until then, I hope you are all having a nice spring (or fall, for the southern hemispherers, yeah?).
