Summer Fling: Marlene/Narcissa

Ficlet 3 and 4, using prompts from @sapphicmicrofics and @sapphicmarauding July lists!

Drabble 3 Prompts: "This is not what I want" from @sapphicmicrofics and Campfire from @sapphicmarauding Rating: Teen

“I’ll be at the beach tomorrow, the waves will be good. You can come and watch me.” Marlene extended the invitation with a grin and an offered mixed drink when she caught Narcissa far enough away from the campfire to go unnoticed. Narcissa was less nervous here. She accepted the drink. “What if that’s not what I want?” Narcissa asked haughtily, even though she was smiling. She sipped the drink Marlene gave her. “You’re terribly impolite.” Narcissa glanced back to the campfire where her sister and niece were roasting a marshmallow with the other children. She guessed Narcissa didn’t have much time. Cloaked in darkness, Marlene dared to wink. “You’re free to do more than just watch, if you insist.”

Drabble 4 Prompts: Swimsuit from @sapphicmicrofics and Beach from @sapphicmarauding Rating: Teen

Narcissa actually showed up. Marlene spotted her in a light-blue bathing suit with a ruffled skirt that looked so good on her Marlene bumped into another woman with her surfboard. She looked around to see if Narcissa was alone before she waved at her. Narcissa didn’t wave back but she did smile and she met Marlene halfway. Marlene called it a win. Narcissa looked at her like she wanted to touch her and Marlene winked. “I convinced you, eh?” she asked. She handed her surfboard to the guy who lent them out. “Liked what you saw?” Narcissa nodded. “You’re good,” she admitted, and when Marlene laughed she caught Narcissa blush. “You looked good, too.” “There we go,” Marlene encouraged, daringly putting her hand on Narcissa’s lower back when she walked them to a quieter beach area. When they were alone, Marlene leaned in. “So, about that more than watching , thing…”

Summer belongs in the past, Emma has decided. All of the smiles and laughter and happiness are things of a bygone era, not meant to be experienced ever again.

She has a box in the back of her closet, filled with photos and keepsakes; photographs of Lily on the beach, a seashell she found on the sand and gave to Emma, a bunch of guitar picks that she doesn't use anymore because she sold her guitar during a bad week when she couldn't stand to look at it anymore. Lily had put stickers on it, left her mark on it, so it didn't belong solely to Emma anymore but to the both of them, and she had wanted it gone.

Now, about a month later, she wants it back.

It's been two years and everytime july comes around she sinks into a sea of memories, waves of nostalgia crashing against her. Lily when they first met in the summer between first and second year, Lily when they first kissed in the summer between fifth and sixth, Lily when they joined a war the summer after their seventh year and Lily in the next summer when they last spoke to each other.

Summer belongs to Lily, in Emma's mind. And Lily isn't here anymore, isn't hers anymore.

So once a year she goes into hiding, leaves her brother in charge of her shop, and spends three months remembering all that she's lost.

Marlene/Narcissa: Summer Fling (1 +2)

These are the first two drabbles in a Summer Fling AU for cissalene, the plan is to write 10-12 of them!

Drabble 1 Prompts: "hotel" from @sapphicmicrofics and "lemonade" from @sapphicmarauding Rating: General

Marlene first saw her in the hotel lobby while Marlene waited for her brother to check them in and Narcissa didn’t look like she was waiting for anyone. She sat in the lobby in a short summer dress, sipping pink lemonade with a straw. Narcissa didn’t even smile when Marlene introduced herself. She did smile when Marlene asked if she always glared at beautiful women. “Only if they’re this presumptuous,” Narcissa said. The way her eyes darted down to Marlene’s bikini top — the one her dad told her was inappropriate — said everything Marlene needed. This would be a fun summer.

Drabble 2 Prompt: "Courage" from @sapphicmicrofics and "wildflowers" from @sapphicmarauding Rating: General

The day after she met Narcissa, Marlene discovered her perfume smelt like wildflowers. She noticed when she passed Narcissa and someone she assumed to be her sister, purposefully slowing down when she brushed past Narcissa. The shock in Narcissa’s expression — surprise that only lasted briefly — startled Marlene. Narcissa looked at her, longing and fear in her eyes before she quickly turned back towards the woman and the young child in her arms. When Marlene turned back while waiting for the elevator, Narcissa was looking at her again. Marlene could still smell wildflowers. All Narcissa needed was a bit of courage.
