I need them to be the loving parents that Holly needs đ
It is weird to me how many people truly believe that Will Byers had a morsel of hope that Mike Wheeler would like him back, and that he would have/could confess to him in Season 4/the upcoming season.
He gives multiple veiled speeches about how terrifying his feelings are to him in Season 4. He outright states in Season 3 that he will never fall in love. This statement introduces and highlights the idea that he does not believe he deserves or will find love, because of who he is. He has been a victim of extreme bigotry, something that was again outright stated in the first episode of the show. Half the town and his own father did not care that he might be dead due to the fact that they believed he was gay. Why would he ever put himself in such a dangerous position, especially when Mike has proven himself to not be a safe person when it comes to his queerness?
It's clear that many viewers of Stranger Things do not understand that sometimes coming of age as a gay person is equally as horrifying as being chased by a beast from an alternate dimension or being possessed by an otherworldly being, and would have been, even more so, at the height of the AIDs crisis.
There are many things that make me want to root for Byler: it would be monumental queer representation, those poor gay teenagers would stop getting ripped apart for hoping just once they'll get a good love story too, it would be a major statement against the current rise of conservative fascism, ect.
However, none of those surpass the fact that I want the Rain Fight to actually have meaning, and not just be something that is swept under the rug. Honestly, if Mike ends up being just a straight douche, I would hate his character until the end of time. What Mike said during the Rain Fight was homophobic, and was received by Will/the audience the way Mike intended. I see the straight, general audience trying to sweep this moment under the rug, but I truthfully can not get over it.
I think almost every gay teenager who grew up in a rural area or less accepting time has experienced their own rain fight; We have had a moment where the person we trust the most, and feel most understood by, has used our queerness against us. We've had the moment of betrayal, where we realize our queerness and inability to adhere to heteronormativity, does make us different, gross, and strange, not just in the eyes of our bullies, but also in the eyes of our supposed allies. And we have all had to learn how to sweep this under the rug, put our own feelings to the side, in order to not lose community.
For a show that claims to be for the freaks and the social rejects to make Will go through all that for no reason, while actively asking the queer audience to root for Mike and his heteronormative lackluster relationship, that Will had to patch up last season, would truly change my opinion of this show overall.
Adam lived in an apartment located above the office of St. Agnes Catholic Church, a fortuitous combination that focused most of the objects of Ronan's worship into one downtown block.
iâm actually crying why is the bar so low đ
âwillâs character arcâ this and âmikeâs character arcâ that. screw it. give me the ultimate conclusion to the gay finn wolfhard cinematic universe. heâs worked his whole life for this. his entire catalogue has built towards this very moment. give him byler endgame.
blue and adam you will always be special to me
I do not need 300 slides of analysis or a two hour video by a lawyer to be convinced Byler should and could happen. I do not need subtext, I don't think it would be a plot twist. This is a textual thing that is clear as day. I am not even a byler, and this is pissing me off.
People keep acting like Mike and Will's relationship hasn't always been tonally different, and that the writers haven't been building tension in their relationship at least since season 3. Even as a person who wouldn't deem themself a Byler, I can see that. I am so tired of people being like "show me proof of byler then!", as if Byler doesn't have everything that every straight relationship in this show has had. It is clearly heteronormativity.
You think Stancy might get back together next season, even though Nancy has always been with Johnathan and Steve's feelings are clearly unreciprocated? How is that any different than the setup Byler is getting? You thought that Jancy was going to get together in Seasons 1 and 2 even though Nancy already had a boyfriend, because of the tonal choices the writers made and the way the actors looked at each other? How is that any different than the setup Byler is getting?
I can not see this VERY CLEAR love triangle ending in a way where Mike finds out and literally nothing changes, and then he gets to keep living his happy straight life with Eleven, while Will is alone, gay and tortured. Or dead apparently.
Something has to happen with the painting lie and something has to happen between Will and Mike, and literally what else could happen?

Kristenâs arc this season really is about action and I canât emphasize that enough!! Itâs the action of spreading Cassandraâs word that she canât figure out how to approach. Itâs the action of struggling to keep moving when all you want to do is rest. Itâs the action of having to embrace her most volatile, active emotion. Religion without action isnât religion, itâs just philosophy. Religion is a practice. It is active. But thereâs a part of her thatâs still frozen (trauma will do that; itâs like thereâs a freeze response stuck in her body somewhere). She doesnât know how to move. She doesnât know how to keep it all together, doesnât have the executive functioning to shift smoothly through it all. She just has to figure out how to act.
