Also like not to be glib but I don’t really care about x individual celebrity. But!!! I do actually care that our culture is normalizing every single woman in the public eye dropping 40 lbs regardless of what they weighed before they started their “totally health and natural” weight loss. People literally shrinking and vanishing and showing it off proudly and being so excited to be dangerously thin. We need to loudly and unapologetically say THIS IS NOT NORMAL. THIS IS NOT WHAT ADULTS LOOK LIKE THIS UNLESS THEY ARE DRAMATICALLY UNWELL. and we’re not saying it to celebrities— we have to say it to each other!!!! We need to remind each other what normal bodies look like. What diverse bodies look like. There are millions of children who see this shit every day. It’s so so so evil.

the whole "insulting someone based on their appearance is bad because it could indirectly hurt people you like who share that feature" is a good start for unlearning body shaming but i do think we need to go further and remind people that even if there was some physical trait that was magically 10000% exclusive to conservatives and creeps and nobody else ever had it, we still shouldnt be insulting them based on that. because the problem with them is not their appearance its their ideology and actions. by insulting their appearance you arent just indirectly insulting others who look like that, youre literally not making the correct point. stay on topic ya know.

it’s a little jarring when people describe spock as only graceful and dismiss or forget to see that he’s pretty clumsy when his clumsiness is honestly one of his most endearing traits. not to say he isn’t graceful, he is one of the most graceful male characters in tos really and i think him having to be somewhat delicate around humans because of his strength adds to that, but for mannerisms if you watch for one second he’s always doing a little stumble of sorts and just the way he generally moves.. he’s accurate most of the time but just really really clumsy. don’t ever let his gracefulness fool you, that man WILL run oddly and have somewhat bad hand to eye coordination

I’ll accept Spock being elegant but he has never been graceful. He is uncoordinated and awkward. He fights awkwardly but he’s just OP with his strength. He runs awkwardly. He’s not a graceful dude.

I hate that shit. if you’re not capable of being normal about bodies you personally don’t find attractive, just turn your head to look at something else! and if you’re not smart enough to do that, then at least do the rest of us the courtesy of suffering in silence, because we don’t wanna hear your weird comments. thanks.
