Maybe if it was around the holidays but not now. “Pastel blue will look amazing on you especially with that hair.” Hillie really only ever did her nails for work. She had learned the nicer she looked the more she made in tips but it was too expansive to get them done professionally all the time. Plus it was time consuming as well. “If you’re offering I’m not about to say no. Thank you.”

“You’re not the first to compare me to a Christmas tree. I wore a green dress to a party once, you can imagine how that went down,” chuckled Sara. That was the worst fashion disaster of her life. It didn’t help that the dress was glittery either. “We could make a day of it if you’re free. We can go back to mine and have a bit of a pamper party,” the redhead suggested as she went over to pay for the nail polishes.

Living a whole new life was a lot easier than Tony would have thought and he was kind of enjoying it. No issues from the past, no people from his past, he could start fresh and be another person. A good person. However, personality doesn’t change in a person even if they change everything else about them. “Damn.” He mumbled, checking a girl out as she walked by and then his eyes moved to another person. “What? She’d just finished a meeting with a client and had just walked out of the coffee shop to find someone checking a poor girl out, in a way that didn’t particularly amuse her. Sara crossed her arms and gave Tony a glare. “You could have said something nice about her face rather than her ass. Why is it always the ass,” moaned the redhead with a roll of her eyes. “Still, none of my business,” she eventually added, passing him a smile. “You new around here then or what? Never seen you out here checking out poor women before.”

sam wasn’t even paying attention to what was going on when someone had grabbed him by the arm. he furrowed his eyebrows though and looked over at the familiar redhead, his face relaxing when he realized who it was and then looked at the nail polish colors. he didn’t know if he’s choose the right color but he figured he might as well throw his opinion out there, “i’d say a yellow or pink. did you have any ideas beforehand?”

Sara lifted her shoulders up and did a pretend-cute look towards Sam. “Oops. Hope you weren’t busy,” she laughed. As soon as she’d seen him walking metres away, she’d decided he was the one who was going to help her out. “No, this is why I don’t usually come shopping on my own, I’m not a shopping-like kind of a girl.” She looked from the yellow to the pink and then nodded. “I do like the pink.” That was easier than she’d thought. “What are you up to? Are you free to hang out?”

Jade had been walking past, on her way to nowhere in particular, when she was suddenly pulled into the beauty salon. “Christ, you nearly pulled my arm off, where’s the fire?” She asked, looking at the woman who had grabbed her attention. When she was simply asked about nail polish colours, she shrugged. “I usually just go for black, or a nice nude. Easy to match with outfits, will go with pretty much anything. White on occasion, but not often.” She looked down at her own nails for a moment, perfectly manicured and covered in a nice matte black polish. “I’m probably not the right person to be asking if you were hoping for advice on some nice bright colours.”

“Sorry, thought I recognised you,” mumbled Sara, though her attention was still fully on the nail polish rather than the stranger. “Nude’s a good idea,” the redhead responded, nodding in agreement. Eventually, she looked across to the woman. “Black is a no for nails though, it just looks like you’ve used a pen to colour your nails. No offence, if you like to do that though. Or if you wear black.” Sara was good at accidentally offending people with her honest tongue. “Do you want one, to apologise for you know...dragging you in here to help me out? I’ll buy you it.”

Victoria was an adult. She’d been on this planet for 35 full years. She could make her own decisions. And yet.. “Have you ever tried one of these?” she turned to ask the person waiting behind her. “I’m trying to be adventurous with my snack food but I’ve never even heard of these before and just want to know what I’m getting into.”

Sara shook her head. She’d seen them before but hadn’t ever eaten one. It was just yet another thing on the shelves that she chose to ignore and had no interest in. “How can you be adventurous with snack food?” she questioned, with a small smile. “I like to save my calories up so I can drink more alcohol. That tastes better than chocolate in my opinion.”

Amelia waved off her friend’s comment, the harm - if you’d even call it that - already forgotten. “You could totally pull off green if you wanted to,” she objected, pulling a dark, rich shade of green polish from the rack and holding it up. “Something emerald colored like this? Would look beautiful on you.” She flashed her friend a quick smile then before returning it to its designated spot. 

Her own nails were a mess, cuticles dotted with remnants of her oil paints and her last polish almost completely chipped away. She reached quickly for a mauve shade for herself and handed it to the next available shop assistant, too, before she could change her mind. “I need to stop at a hardware store for spray paint. Do you think they’d have chalk there? If not, I need to go somewhere that sells chalk, too,” she answered quickly. “And I really, really want a banana split.” 

“No, don’t make me do it or I’ll pour that drink over you for real this time,” the redhead joked. “I’ll show you a pic of me wearing green later and then you’ll realise what a disaster it is. I made the mistake for a birthday party whilst I was travelling a couple of months ago and I looked like Christmas had come late.” Sara wasn’t being over-dramatic for once, either. She hadn’t got the best reviews which was rare for her, she usually dressed well.

Sara’s eyes were distracted from her own order and rolled over the shade Amelia picked out. “Perfect colour for you,” she commented before turning back to the shop assistant who was dealing with Sara. “There’s an art shop, that probably sells chalk. I spend a lot of money in there. So much, that they’ve started giving me a 10% discount. You’ve come shopping with the right friend, girl,” she laughed, linking her arm in Amelia’s as soon as they were walking out of the shop. “A banana split?” she repeated, with a laugh. “I’ve not had one of those since I was a kid, you’re gonna make me feel all nostalgic.”

“Its not really, its actually really interesting as it shows us how we came to be who we are today.” He explained kindly and then chuckled. “ No, no ducks, I’m pretty sure I would have to be home for most of the day if I have ducks, and I already have enough pets as it is.” He admitted with a soft smile. “ I actually like animals more then people most of time anyway.” He joked. “ They are honest creatures.”

“Just sounds like something I wouldn’t have the patience for. Actually, I don’t even have the patience for my own job so I’d be no good at yours. Good to hear you find it interesting though.” Work in general was something Sara wasn’t great at, she’d much rather be back at university again. There was more time for work and play, and those days seemed so much simpler. “No way! Ducks are easy, they just do their own thing. You just need to feed them. Maybe I’m just looking for a pal with some ducks so I can visit them.” Sara was crazy about animals but didn’t have any of her own. Perhaps she’d change that before too long, but then again, she would probably get bored of them within a few weeks. That was why she was more interested in more exotic pets like rats and reptiles, though she’d love a dog. “Who doesn’t? Animals are pure. I’m thinking of getting a snake because I need something I won’t get bored of - do you still like them better than people? What pets do you have?”

She looked up from picking out her own nail polish, settling on Dior’s Maasai nail polish. “What about that seafoam color?” Alexis pointed to the Sally Hansen color she thought would look good on her. ‘Or this light purple color? I was thinking on getting that one until i saw this one.” Looking at the Dior nail polish, she looked at it a bit more before she put it back and grabbed the light purple one. 

“Seafoam?” Sara repeated, laughing a little at the name. She’d never seen so many different colours before. Only on Photoshop when she was working, anyway. She’d never seen so many in nail polish shades. “Mmm, the light purple looks gorgeous. Looks like we’re going to have matching nails for the rest of the week then. Or however long it lasts. I’ll try not to scratch it off when I get bored, this time.”

Noah couldn’t help but flinch when Sara sudden grabbed his arm, though he spent the rest of the time she was dragging him into the salon mentally berating himself for it. This was Sara. His big sister. If there was anybody who was safe it was her. Truthfully he was still just thrilled to have her in Atlanta. The two of them had finally started to learn to get alone and a chance for them to experience life in the same city without their parents sounded perfect. 

He couldn’t help but laugh a little at his sister’s words ad he stared at the colors in confusion. “Are you really asking me about nail polish?” he questioned, “Me, the one who mom pulled out of art classes after just three lessons because I was so bad?” he added, shaking his head. “I don’t know, Sara … yellow? Purple?”

Despite her urgency to get inside, it didn’t stop her from noticing his flinch. She hadn’t always been, but she was fairly observant these days and could read people’s actions. The small expression suddenly made her nail polish venture seem less important, but she didn’t want to bring it up in the shop.

“Well I wasn’t able to get your opinion on things for ages and now I can, I want to,” the redhead replied, ending her sentence with a small shrug. It was just a small, silly thing to ask his opinion of but it was a start and spending time with him again was nice. “You were terrible,” Sara laughed. “Mom was gutted.” The woman paused before turning back to the nail polishes whilst mumbling, “Serves her right though. We can’t all be as creative as I am,” she joked. Her head nodded at her brother’s suggestions. “I’ll get both. They’re good picks - you’re not so bad after all.” Sara reached over and rubbed her hand in her brother’s hair playfully just as she had done when they were younger.

Eric smiled and unlocked the boot of his car as she spoke. He understood the pull to exercise. It helped him when he couldn’t cope. “Work’s…. well its just artefacts of hundreds of years ago. But I like it.” Eric gave a small shrug. “ I just finished renovating my house though, so everything is in order now. I had to work on my garden with a sword it was so high.” He joked. “ But now I have a deck and a place for the dog to play so I’m happy, might even make a pond up soon.”

“Sounds dull to me,” the redhead said honestly, with a shrug. She wasn’t going to pretend she was interested when she wasn’t, she just wanted to know that he was still enjoying it. “Yeah? I’ll have to come and check it out if it’s as cool as you say it is.” Sara let out a laugh and put her hand on her hip. “You could get some ducks to go with your pond.”

Amelia nearly dropped her iced coffee when she was jerked into the salon by the other woman. “Hey, slow down, will ya?” she urged, narrowly avoiding a spill as she stumbled to a stop in front of the racks of polish. She was happy to help her friend choose a color, but she would not be happy to lose the latte she had just paid an exorbitant six dollars for at the car down the road. 

As she wiped the few drops of liquid that had fell from the cup onto the side of her jeans, she explained, “See, I fully believe that if you like the color, then it suits you by default. But also… sky blue.” Finally, she looked up and scanned over the color options. “Or! Or…” she paused, collecting a pink, an orange, and a yellow shade from the rack. “What if you did a gradient with these three? Looks very summer sunset-ish to me.”

“Sorry,” mumbled the redhead, barely paying attention to Amelia at first despite knowing the importance of a latte. She had a habit of rushing off and going too fast. It was either that, or lying down with no movement at all, there wasn’t much of an inbetween for Sara. Her eyes fell from the woman’s eyes to the cup. “You know I’d buy you another if I’d have made you spill it all. But right now nail polish is more exciting than your iced coffee.”

“No, not true. Green looks terrible on me. Even if I was the biggest green lover I’d still look like an elf.” Nodding, Sara listened to Amelia’s suggestions, realising she’d definitely popped in with the right person. “A gradient, hmm? Very summery, I like it. I hope you’re not just trying to get me to spend more money though.” With an excited smile, Sara picked up the polishes and took them over to the shop assistant. “Where do we need to go after this?” she asked her friend. A shopping trip had been exactly what she’d needed.

Hillie looked at her friend, trying to decide what colors would work with Sara’s red hair. “Well I think if you went with red that would clash with your hair. So would pink. If you did green I would have to call you Ms. Christmas so no to that and if you did gold I’d have to call you Ms. Gryffindor so no,” She joked. “I think blue might just be your best bet. Or purple if you’re really feeling daring.”

“Green looks ridiculous of me. I would never go there,” Sara agreed with a girly laugh. Having red hair was certainly a struggle when it came to fashion and the woman liked to believe she was quite fashionable. “Pastel blue it is then. Purple can wait for next week.” She ran her tongue along her bottom lip and picked up the nail polish, taking it over to the cashier. Sara usually just did her nails herself because it was quicker. There was nothing worse than trying to make small talk with a stranger for an hour. She paused on her feet just before getting there and spun around to look at the blonde. “Actually, do you want one too? I can do your nails for you if you want, for free. It’s on me.”

The redhead was losing inspiration for her work and needed a distraction today. There was only so many clients she could manage without some fun in between, before her creativity faded. That was the great thing about working freelance, she could just do the work when she felt like it, so long as she actually got it done. Sara had tried jobs with set hours before, but it hadn’t suited her one bit. 

“I need your help,” Sara said suddenly, grabbing the other by the arm. She dragged them into New Look Beauty Salon and forced them to look over the nail polish colours. “Which colour should I go for this time? I need something Summery, but I still can’t decide what colours suit me. Come on, we haven’t got all day, what do you think?”

Sam was bored. To the extent that he had actually decided to clean out his garage. He managed to find an old boombox  and within minutes he had forgotten about the garage and was fiddling with the back of the boombox to get it working. He grabbed his tools from the truck and sat on the floor like a kid playing with a science kit. Within minutes the static sound started to flow out the old stereo. “Awesome now lets see what I can pick up.” He fiddled with the station changer and after getting some bible verses, a Bollywood song and then baby shark, Sam managed to find a station that played eighties music. He began to dance around his lawn in the warm sunlight then put the boombox on his shoulder like a true eighties kid “Guns and Rises are the bomb.” He shouted happily and then turned to see someone walking past. “ Checkout what I found in my garage.”He called out, still dancing. “ How awesome is this?”

At first Sara didn’t think his call was directed to her, but after looking around her shoulder she realised she was the only person around. She’d been heading home after a tennis match. Her mind was in a dream as she walked slowly down the road. “The music’s pretty lame, actually,” called back Sara as she stared at the man with a confused expression. “Not to ruin your moment, or anything.” Laughing, the redhead stepped forward with her arms crossed, though she certainly wasn’t about to join his dancing. Instead, she just stared at him; intrigued. “Can you not just play rubbish music out of your cellphone instead? IPhone’s have pretty good speakers these days. And guess what, you can take them anywhere,” the woman explained, sarcastically.

Looking at the baking ingredients in front of her, the petite FBI agent planted her hands on her hips as she tried to gauge what she wanted. She really should’ve waited to come here and buy the stuff after she’d picked Jessie up from her friend’s house, but she wanted the cookies to be a surprise for her daughter. And wouldn’t bringing her with ruin the surprise? Elyse was lucky her daughter would eat practically anything, but that didn’t stop her from being indecisive about what to get. 

Glancing at the person next to her she sighed. “So Jessie just got a part in her school’s play, the first time ever, and I want to bake her some cookies before she gets home to celebrate. What kind do you think I should make? She’s a sugar monkey so she likes any kind, but I’m stumped on what to bake for her.” @atlanta-rpgstarters​

Sara didn’t expect to ever befriend somebody who had a child, after all, she wasn’t the best influence on children, but Elyse had somehow grown on her over the years. “Did you just...ask me for recommendations for your kid?” Sara laughed loudly and rolled her brown eyes."You know me better than that, Elyse, come on now. How would I know what’s suitable for a child?” Sara’s unbringing made her fear parenthood. She didn’t want to turn out like her parents and the thought of getting pregnant made her feel physically sick. Perhaps one day she’d change her way of thinking, but it wouldn’t be for a few years yet. Eventually, she sighed and gave an answer. “How about chocolate orange flavoured cookies? Everything good is orange,” Sara joked, gesturing to her own orange hair.

Eric had been working at the museum all day and his body had started to seize up as he sat hunched up over his books. After finishing his work, he headed to the gym and worked out all the tension caused by sitting at a desk. He had just finished and headed outside when he saw someone he recognised, “Hey..” He called and walked over to them. “ I haven’t seen you in while, How’s things?” He asked. “ I’m not going to lie, I just went to the gym and I’m feeling it now.”

The redhead grinned and nodded her head. “Yeah I've been doing a lot of tennis instead recently. Got bored of the gym for a bit...yet here I am hanging around outside deciding whether or not to go in.” Sara was fickle when it came to many things, and sport was one of them. If she did the same form of exercise over and over then she got bored. She didn’t like to commit to sports teams either; being forced to do activities just reminded her of her childhood. “But I’m all good. You know me, always busy with something. What about you? How’s work?”
