This blog is dedicated to my journey towards a healthier body. I will be tracking my food intake, exercise plans and posting my progress as well as posting recipes, suggesting supplements and posting my research on nutrition and fitness. Remember... this fitness game is a marathon... not a sprint. Treat what we do as a lifestyle and you will win!!! We live in a “Quick Fix” world. Time is precious, and we are always on the run. Sometimes working out doesn’t get prioritized as high as we want it to. We are looking for that quick fix to loose weight and be healthy. Unfortunately, there is no healthy way to loose weight quickly!..BUT there are few things I recommend for anyone looking to loose weight, and gain energy! 1. Drink Water Instead of Soda – Making that switch can not only gain you more energy, but you can loose weight from making the switch! Soda = Calories and a lot of sugar! I recommend at least 80 Ounces of water a day. 2. Count Your Calories – It is important to know what you are eating! Don’t let restaurants trick you with salads and special sandwiches. You need to know the nutritional facts before you eat it! I have found that some salads can be loaded with calories, fat, and sodium…some worse then a Big Mac and large fry at McDonalds! I recommend using http://myfitnesspal.com 3. Shakeology – I don’t endorse something, unless I am a firm believer of it! I think the product needs to sell itself…and that is the case with Shakeology. It is a great meal replacement shake that is ALL NATURAL! You will loose weight, gain clarity, gain energy, etc. I have done my research, and this is the best of the best! It is a BeachBody product, and people have been raving about it. I have personally seen the changed lives from it. 4. Exercise – YOU DON’T NEED TO WORK OUT FOR HOURS TO GET RIPPED. P90X is only an hour a day, and the results of it are overwhelming! Most people watch TV or sit at their computer for 2-6 hours a day. If you really cant do even an hour a day, I recommend the 10 Minute Trainer. It is by Tony Horton, the maker of P90X, and I guarantee those 10 minutes will be worth it! IF you can’t work out, Nutrition is 80% of your weight loss, and Shakeology is the way to go!
Here is an idea for a HOLIDAY FESTIVE HEALTHY JUICE
Make your holiday celebrations nutrient-rich and healthy!
It’s fun to get into the spirit of the season with an extra festive juice. This is a great juice to start the holiday season off with a bang. Consuming nutrient-dense juice before you go to a holiday party may help reduce your overall calorie intake. People can eat many days’ worth of calories at just one-holiday dinner so by juicing up, you will start your day in the right direction!
Or serve this juice to your guests so they can enjoy something a bit different for an appetizer.
Ingredients
2-3 plums
1 beet (beetroot)
2 apples
6 kale (Tuscan cabbage) leaves
Directions
Wash all ingredients well.
Slice the plums in half and twist the fruit to pull apart, then cut out the pit.
Juice kale separately at first and add to the container.
Add the rest of the ingredients through the juicer.
Drizzle kale juice on top, or just add it in and mix well.
Wow I feel so much better physically and emotionally. Today at work I noticed I could bend down without any pain to pick up a safety flag off the ground. I used to have to kneel down to do the task. It’s also day 16, the pictures are from day 15 and day 1 of the program. Also want to thank Connie my wife for being there and doing the program.

You can regrow scallions by leaving an inch attached to the roots and place them in a small glass with a little water in a well-lit room.
Garlic
When garlic begins to sprout, you can put them in a glass with a little water and grow garlic sprouts. The sprouts have a mild flavor than garlic and can be added to salads, pasta and other dishes.
Bok Choy
Bok choy can be regrown by placing the root end in water in a well-lit area. In 1-2 weeks , you can transplant it to a pot with soil and grow a full new head.
Carrots
Put carrot tops in a dish with a little water. Set the dish in a well-lit room or a window sill. You’ll have carrot tops to use in salads.
Basil
Put clippings from basil with 3 to 4-inch stems in a glass of water and place it in direct sunlight. When the roots are about 2 inches long, plant them in pots to and in time it will grow a full basil plant.
Celery
Cut off the base of the celery and place it in a saucer or shallow bowl of warm water in the sun. Leaves will begin to thicken and grow in the middle of the base, then transfer the celery to soil.
Romaine Lettuce
Put romaine lettuce stumps in a ½ inch of water. Re-water to keep water level at ½ inch. After a few days, roots and new leaves will appear and you can transplant it into soil.
Cilantro
The stems of cilantro will grown when placed in a glass of water. Once the roots are long enough, plant them in a pot in a well-lit room. You will have a full plant in a few months.

Want to speed up that fat-burning? It’s not as hard as you might think!
Yes, exercise and diet are the key to efficient weight loss and fat burning, but there are other things you can do to eliminate body fat. Here are a few nifty habits to adopt for faster fat burning:
• Snap a picture of your meals — Most people fail on their diet not because of lack of knowledge, but lack of accountability. Take a picture of your meals and use it to create a food journal. You’ll find it much easier to avoid poor food choices if you can SEE everything you’re eating.
• Be cold — Cold temperatures cause your body to burn fat to stay warm, so it’s a good idea to be cold throughout the day. Take cold showers, drink cold water, and wear lighter clothing to feel the chill and get your body burning fat!
• Drink water — Drink up to 16 ounces of water before every meal, and you’ll eat a whole lot less. Shoot for 3 to 5 quarts of water per day
• Add honey, lemon juice, and cinnamon to your meals — All of these things are efficient appetite regulators, blood sugar controllers, and fat burners.
• Walk after every meal — It can be a 5 to 10 minute walk, or you can walk for an hour. Light activity after your meals activates GLUT – 4 receptors, which cause your muscles to absorb glucose. It can also help you burn calories and fat!
In The First 10 minutes: 10 teaspoons of sugar hits your system. (100 percent of your recommended daily intake.) You don’t immediately vomit from the overwhelming sweetness because phosphoric acid cuts the flavour allowing you to keep it down.
20 minutes: Your blood sugar spikes, causing an insulin burst. Your liver responds to this by turning any sugar it can get its hands on into fat. (There’s plenty of that at this particular moment.)
40 minutes: Caffeine absorption is complete. Your pupils dilate and your blood pressure rises. As a response, your liver dumps more sugar into your bloodstream. The adenosine receptors in your brain are now blocked preventing drowsiness.
45 minutes: Your body ups your dopamine production, stimulating the pleasure centres of your brain. This is physically the same way heroin works, by the way.
>60 minutes: The phosphoric acid binds calcium, magnesium and zinc in your lower intestine, providing a further boost in metabolism. This is compounded by high doses of sugar and artificial sweeteners, also increasing the urinary excretion of calcium.
>60 Minutes: The caffeine’s diuretic properties come into play. (It makes you have to pee.) It is now assured that you’ll evacuate the bonded calcium, magnesium and zinc that was headed to your bones as well as sodium, electrolyte and water.
>60 minutes: As the rave inside of you dies down you’ll start to have a sugar crash. You may become irritable and/or sluggish. You’ve also now, literally, urinated the water that was in the Coke. But not before infusing it with valuable nutrients your body could have used for things like even having the ability to hydrate your system or build strong bones and teeth.
These may be shocking to you but to me, it is just further proof that we should probably take a pass on sodas. The amount of sugar is just insane!
