What do you do when the person that you are madly and absolutely in love with starts showing the signs? You know, the signs of falling out of love? Yeah over the years I have learned each sign, studied them, watched them slowly lose interest in the disaster that is, well, me. First, they start to be a little more distant, they don’t cuddle you at night, stop kissing you 5 times plus 1 before getting out of the car. You can feel them drifting and they know that you can, but still when you ask what’s going they make up an excuse, “I’m just tired” “I’m hungry I haven’t eaten all day” or my personal favorite, they’ll make you feel crazy “what are you talking about I’m not doing anything”. Next they start paying less attention to you and more attention to their phone or literally ANYTHING that’s not you. I think that may be the most painful, they no longer care how your day was, you can tell them an entire story and they won’t hear a word, or you’ll have an entire conversation that you thought was with them but they weren’t listening so you were talking to yourself the whole time. Shortly after everything you do will annoy them or make them mad, they’ll yell at you for just about anything from accidentally pausing the tv to dropping something that didn’t even break. They start to push you away; they start to be annoyed by your presence. They will do just about anything to get a moment away from the annoyance that is who you are as a person.

The shittiest part of it all you might ask. The shittiest part is that you have become so reliant on them, you don’t know who you are without them, you don’t even know how to breathe without her being your reason to do so. The shittiest part is that while you were saving up money behind her back to buy her an engagement ring, she was slowly losing feelings for you. The shittiest part is knowing that the one person that you would literally do anything for, won’t even try to make your relationship work. It will completely fucking destroy you, but you won’t leave. No, instead you’ll try even harder. You’ll do everything you can to just make her bad days a little bit better, but she doesn’t even ask you how yours went. Every day that she falls out of love with you, you’ll fall out of love with yourself. Every time she gets mad at you over the smallest shit, you do nothing but beat yourself up and tell yourself you’re worthless. You’ll ask her what you did wrong. You’ll ask her if she still loves you. She’ll lie and tell you yes. Well, it’s sort of the truth. She does still love you. She just doesn’t love you the same way she did, the way you love her. She still wants to see you succeed in your life. But she no longer plans to aide you. She wants you to live a long and happy life. She just no longer wants to be a part of it. Then she leaves…
