something I really wish should be explored more about Jason's character is his mental age because see-

he already had a tonne of trauma at 12 which has proved to increase one's mental age and Bruce telling alfred that jay is older than both of them combined then-

this kid is murdered at 15 betrayed by his biological mom,wakes up in his grave and spends like 18 months catatonic and then comes in touch with all of this within 24 hours when emotionally speaking he is STILL 15

so yeah I wonder how this has an impact on his psyche and lifestyle

It doesn't even have to be skin to skin but if Bruce touches him, he feels way too conflicted about it because he wants it right or he used to but it hurts so bad and feels like someone has poured acid on his skin.

hi! it's me again (last anon), luckily i logged in just now and saw your post about my ask. about tim, i think in canon he's about as accountable as dick (because he's younger but he also does talk about jason badly more often so overall i'd put them at the same level). there's very few fics where tim is even confronted with what he did as victim-blaming so i would love to read something where he's held accountable. fanon tim definitely deserves much worse than canon tim, jason should beat him up again. i think bruce does get more scrutiny than tim, which is deserved but alfred often gets away scot free. so many fics have alfred as jason's favourite family member and jason agrees to stay because of alfred and that just puts a bad taste in my mouth. alfred literally treats all the kids horribly but he's turned into a saint because he cooks them food. he victim-blamed jason, put duke and the war robins in danger, demeaned steph, was cold to dick when he had just moved in (depending on the run), did the 16th birthday thing to tim (i don't care about tim though but i'll include it). they all love him because he was a primary caretaker to them (except duke and steph) when they were kids but that doesn't mean he's a saint, especially towards jason.

ahh ic ic, yeah I also have similar thoughts on that as well, cause they just can't be fully held accountable, but still have some fauls. And yeah, I honestly need more fics that actually focus on how shit Tim and Alfred are because they're always written as best guys ever (and they fucking aren't). And fr I get so sick of fics making Alfred Jason's fav person, but like ???? That bitch is an enabler of Bruce's bad behaviour, even the fact that he doesn't step in when things are serious enables Bruce so ngbfjsnfn anyways hate saint Alfred or good grandparent or any of those tags ✌️ haha yepp canon Tim deserves bad stuff happening to him, but fanon Tim deserves a shit ton more :)

And if I say that Jason can't perceive himself as a proper adult after all these missing years that he spent being dead, and then catatonic, but at the same time, he was never taught how to be a kid, either. All he did was surviving as a child on the streets or taking care of Catherine, an act that made him taste responsibility and the harsh reality of the world from the very beginning of his conscious life. The closest "childhood" he got to experience was a few years as Bruce's son, and yet, it wasn't enough - he never got to feel fully safe and secure, he was never fully assured that he was a kid, who could do anything he wanted (case in point, him, thinking that Bruce disowned him after benching, and his desperate urge to find another parent since he was left alone, betrayed and pained).

So, yeah, Jason mourns the past, but most of the time he grieves the things he never got.

It is not about not being able to return to his childhood innocence. It is about having nothing to return to.

Can y'all please stop making Dick so weepy in these Jason identity reveal fics. I know we want him to be the loving, sappy, affectionate older brother, but y'all really aren't giving him enough credit. This is Batman's first protege, who got the heaviest brunt of Batman's focus. Dick is a detective. This kid has been fighting Clayface since he was ten years old. He's had the longest tenure as Robin and he's seen and been through some shit. Dick would be grilling "Jason" nonstop, interrogating him relentlessly and hardly pausing for breath. Even after "Jason" has answered a bunch of questions only Jason would know, I still don't think Dick would believe him until every identification test under the sun has been tried- fingerprints, dental work, DNA, you name it. I think he would be emotional; he's just incensed rather than sobbing. If you don't think he would immediately activate instant kill mode and slam this abhorrent shapeshifter/body snatcher/whatever defiling his brother's memory against a wall and threaten to gouge their eyes out unless they tell him who they really are this instant, then I think you should revisit your understanding of Dick Grayson.
