Just found this video on youtube.. I literally can’t stop laughing.. OMG
He's an absolute dumb ass and I would kill and die for him
Idk about you but my favorite part of s7 was Wilson’s apparent obsession with climbing in and out of windows
welton love - neil perry x reader
hey guys! i’ve been really obsessed with dead poets society lately (and would love to write more fan fiction for neil and the other characters, so if you have requests send!) so i wanted to write some fan fiction for my baby neil! i love him very much :’)
warnings - unedited so there are probably some mistakes, mentions of possible marital problems between the reader’s parents but if you blink you’ll miss it, charlie has a porno mag (you have to read for context-), cat-calling is mentioned but i’m not sure if that needs a warning
i don’t remember the exact timeline of dead poets society, so if what happened with neil happened within the time span of this fan fiction, my apologies!
this is meant for female readers, but i’m happy to write neil x male readers in the future!
You leaned against the wall in one of the hallways of Welton Academy, reading and flipping through the pages of the book you were halfway done. It was the first day of the school year at the academy, so as you read, young boys were being funneled through the halls and shown their rooms.
Most of the boys paid you barely any mind, but some of them wolf-whistled in your direction or called you names like “doll” or “babe”. “Nice, gentlemen.” You kid, rolling your eyes. This didn’t stop the calls however, and you were so fed up with them that you took yourself up off the wall and headed for the room you had been staying in.
You arrived at the entrance, and you turned to enter the room, but you were greeted with two pale-faced boys turning their heads in your direction. They were confused, why was a girl entering their room? Why is a girl here in general? Wasn’t this a boys academy?
“Oh, I’m sorry. I’ll leave you both be.” You apologized, going to exit the room, before one of them called after you. “No, it’s alright! You can stay.” The boy with very thick eyebrows chirped, inviting you back in. You smiled and entered the room again, and the thick eyebrow-ed boy moved his suitcase for you to sit on the bed next to him.
You did so, sitting on the mattress. “Boys don’t see a woman for a few hours and suddenly they don’t know how to act around one.” You joked, and the two men laughed. “I’m sorry for barging in on you- I’ve been staying in this room for the last month or so while the whole school was getting set up. But obviously I’ll have to move out now.” You explained, and the boy across from you raised an eyebrow.
“Why were you staying here, if you don’t mind me asking?” He questioned, shifting on his bed. “My dad’s a professor here, and he doesn’t trust my mom enough to let me stay alone with her, so he took me with him here. Again, I’m so sorry for busting in.”
“It’s alright.” The boy across from you said, extending his hand out to you in introduction. “I’m Todd.” He smiled, and you smiled back, shaking his hand with a firm grip. “I’m (Y/N). And you are?” You released Todd’s hand and turned to the boy beside you, going to shake his hand as well. “Neil. Nice to meet you.” He introduced himself, taking your hand and shaking it. When the corner of his lips curled, you could see that he had dimples, and it was quite cute. Neil was quite cute in general.
Just as you released Neil’s hand, a group of boys showed up at the door, propping themselves up on the frame and standing behind each other respectfully. “This one’s already bagged a girl somehow!” One of them laughed, and a few small chuckles arose from the other boys.
“Settle down.” Neil smiled just in the slightest, gesturing to you to introduce you to the boys. “Charlie, Knox, Meeks, this is (Y/N). (Y/N), these are Charlie, Knox and Meeks.” He explained, and you stood up, shaking the men’s hands. “It’s a pleasure to meet all of you.” You stated, going back to sit next to Neil on his bed.
“Her dad teaches here, so she’s staying here with him. We were just talking about that.” Neil told the boys, who had now shifted their attention towards Todd, whom you assumed they hadn’t met yet. And just like that, the group of the group of you were all speaking together as if you had been friends for years (except for Todd, he was bit timid, but he eased into it).
When you first arrived at this academy a month ago, you were upset that you wouldn’t be home to see all of your friends- but now, you were warming up to it. You’ve only known these boys for literally about 10 minutes, and they were making you laugh and smile harder than any of your friends at home did. So, maybe coming here wasn’t so bad.
- (one month later)
You and your friends, Todd, Knox, Meeks, Charlie, Richard, Pitts and Neil, sat in somewhat of a squished semi-circle, passing around different items such as books and occasionally certain types of magazines (all of those coming from Charlie), sharing them around and borrowing each other’s things. On your left was Neil and on your right was Charlie, and you were huddled together.
“Gosh, Charlie, no one’s going to want your porn magazines when we know how much time you’ve spent with them.” You playfully rolled your eyes, handing his “literature” back to him. Charlie scoffed it off jokingly, shoving it back into his book bag.
“Well, wouldn’t that make you want it more?” Charlie flirted with you playfully, and you smirked, taking his chin in your hands and shaking his head slightly in a joking manner. “You wish.” You smiled, making him smirk. You dropped your hand, putting it back in your lap.
“What do you have next, (Y/N)?” Meeks asked, and you dug through your own book bag to pick another one of the books in there, pulling out a book called “Poems of Keats”. You flipped it around to show the cover to everyone, explaining what was on the pages.
“This is a collection of poems- all of them are written by John Keats. Maybe Mr. Keating told you about him, he was very popular when he was active in writing.” You told the boys, panning the book to them so they could look at it. “I’ve read that book! It’s quite good.” Neil expressed, and you handed the book to him so he could look through the pages again. “It really is, the poems are very endearing if you understand the meaning behind them.” You shared the excitement with him, watching as his fingers drifted over the small lettering that filled the book’s first poem.
“Yes, they are.” Neil’s voice softened, his head tilting to face you and your eyes meeting. It was like the two of you were having a moment- staring into each other’s eyes and blocking out everything else that was happening right now. His deep brown eyes encompassed your attention, and you and him looked at each other for longer than you should’ve.
You snapped out of it, the both of you laughing awkwardly. The group followed along, letting out a small chuckle. It was like your heart was exploding right now- obviously you knew Neil was attractive, but you’d never had a moment like this. You acted as if you shrugged it off, offering the book to Pitts since he wanted to read it.
The rest of the time you spent with the boys went on relatively normally, but you couldn’t help but feel just a bit of tension between the group. I mean, neither of you even addressed what had happened, so maybe that was it, but it was still there. But you ignored it.
-
During the week after that incident, you noticed from happenings like this occurring. Like one time, you were in Neil and Todd’s room, helping Neil study for an upcoming test he had. You were helping him with a very hard problem that would be similar to another question appearing on said test, so you were listing out strategies to help solve it.
“You have to carry this,” You gestured to one of the numbers on Neil’s paper with your pen, “to be able to get the actual sum of this. Without doing that, you’ll get the whole question wrong and your correct work won’t be accounted for.” You told him, and he nodded along. You watched as he did it himself.
“Good, good!” You smiled, placing a hand on his back and patting slightly, silently cheering him on. You watched Neil slowly solve the problem, placing his pen down next to the paper once he was finished. You both beamed at each other, meeting gazes once again.
Gosh, he was so intoxicating to look at. He was genuinely the most gorgeous person you’d ever seen, and you felt as if you could kiss him right there. But obviously, you weren’t going to, because that would probably ruin your friendship. Right? Although, you can’t help but notice a look of awe on Neil’s face as well… no, that’s not right. Your mind was playing trick on you. Your mind was DEFINITELY playing tricks on you.
You cleared your throat, sliding your hand off of his back and picking your pen up again. Awkwardly, you continued to explain strategies for solving math problems, leaving a weird feeling in the room for the rest of the time you helped him study.
- (a few weeks later)
You finished washing the conditioner out of your hair, turning the handle to turn off the shower head and shaking yourself off a bit. It was currently around noon, and you were having your shower since you knew no boys would be in here at this time. Plus, you had tutoring at 1:30 (since you don’t take classes with the boys, per request of your father), so it was the perfect time to shower so you’d be ready.
You reached for your towel and wrapped it around you, covering yourself before exiting the shower area. You wiped your hand over your bath, drying it off a little before you heard the sound of the door opening.
“Oh- (Y/N), I’m sorry!” You heard your friend Todd’s voice apologize frantically, and you looked to see him already turned around, not looking in your direction. You chuckled a little, not caring very much that he had walked in on you.
“It’s alright, Todd, don’t worry.” You reassured him, “Normally I’d be a little spooked by some guy walking in on me in just a towel, but I know you’re not a pervert. None of the boys are, either.” You told, finding your clothes that were set down near the sink.
“Well, maybe Charlie, but not in a creepy way.” You laughed, and Todd meekly turned back around. You found your underwear in the pile of clothing, as it was obviously the first thing you would put on. “I know, it’s just… I feel a bit bad.” Todd stated, and you quirked an eyebrow in his direction out of confusion.
“Bad? Why would you feel bad?” You asked, “But you might actually want to turn around now, I need to get changed.” You added, and he nodded and did so. You unwrapped your towel and dried yourself off, pulling on your undergarments.
“I wouldn’t want to make you uncomfortable for starters, and Nei-” He began, but he cut himself off. You could tell that he had started saying “Neil”, which only peaked your interest and made your heart flutter for a moment. No, no! You shouldn’t be getting your hopes up or anything, just in case it’s not what you think it could be. But… is it?
“Neil what?” You inquired, grabbing your skirt and putting it on. As you grabbed your button up shirt, Todd stuttered before answering. “Well, don’t tell Neil I told you this, but… I feel bad because I know he has a very big crush on you, and I wouldn’t want him to think I liked you too.” He said outright, and your stomach did somersaults.
“…You’re not kidding, right?” You questioned after a moment of silence, finishing the last button on your shirt and also stating that Todd could look now. He turned and shook his head to signal that he wasn’t joking, and your mouth came a little bit agape involuntarily. You let out a single laugh, grabbing your towel and drying your hair.
“Thank God, my mind wasn’t playing tricks on me! I thought I was insane!” You exclaimed in excitement, ruffling your hair vigorously in the towel. You continued to say words of happiness as Todd found what he had originally came in here to get, smiling at the fact that Neil would also be relieved that his mind wasn’t playing tricks either.
You got your hair to a relatively dry state, removing the towel and beginning to brush it. Todd said goodbye to you as he exited the shower room, leaving you to simmer in your own joy. Neil really did like you! The romantic tension you felt wasn’t just you, it was real!
As you brushed your hair, you decided you would confront Neil about this tonight. You had felt so desperate hoping he would like you back, and now that you knew he did, this was your opportunity to become romantically involved with him.
-
It was later that night, and you were waiting for Neil to show up at your bedroom. You asked him to drop by earlier that day (before the crush secret was spilled) so you could just hang out, but now you actually had something serious to speak about.
You sat cross-legged on your bed, drumming your fingers against your thighs with your door open. You had an extra room in the academy, as some kid’s parents had pulled them out last minute, so you took the room to stay in. Interrupting your thoughts, there was a knock on the door frame. It was Neil, in his sweatshirt and sweatpants, smiling at you. Gosh, his dimples were great.
“Hey!” Neil greeted and closed the door, walking over and sitting next to you on your bed, shuffling into a comfortable position. You grinned awkwardly, unsure of how to start this conversation. You cleared your throat, “Hey, uhh… I know you, ummm…” You hesitated, “Iknowyouhaveacrushonme.”
You blurted that sentence out as quickly as possible, and even though you knew he liked you, since that’s what you said, you felt like he would reject you once you told him you felt the same. You watched as Neil’s eyes widened and he let out a surprised “Oh.”, shuffling once again.
“How… how do you know?” He asked, itching the back of his neck nervously. Without thinking, you said “Todd told me.”, and only moments later did you remember he said not to tell Neil that he did. “Oh, please don’t tell Todd I said that! He asked me not to tell you…” You explained, and Neil nodded.
After silence, Neil finally broke the tension in the air- “…Well, do you feel the same?” He questioned, and the corner of your lips curled just in the slightest. You replied quietly, timidly speaking the single word “Yes.”, which made Neil’s face explode with glee.
He scooted closer to you, wrapping his arms around you in a tight hug. You laughed, doing the same. You both stayed like that for a while, just holding each other. But, you knew that it was time for you to do something you’d wanted to do since the moment you met Neil.
You pulled your head away from the crook of Neil’s neck, moving your arms and placing them around his neck instead. He knew what you were doing almost immediately, and he brought his hands to you waist. You planted your lips on his, feeling how soft his lips were against your own.
After a moment, you smiled into the smooch, switching between doing that and moving your mouth in sync with Neil’s. When you pulled away, the both of you were still gushing uncontrollably. This was a new feeling for you, telling your crush you liked them. And you loved it! But chances are, you probably won’t be doing this again for a long time…
because you’ve already found the one.
You’re a good friend.
