Please do your research! There is so much misinformation out there and a lot of lies.
Everyone should know the truth so please try to know as much as you can so you can spread awareness and help!

If you have epilepsy/photosensitivity, you may want to avoid the Quick Reblog thing on mobile for the time being. For some reason the green confirmation bar at the bottom of the screen is now flashing rapidly (basically strobing) whenever I Quick Reblog a post, and Tumblr Support hasn't gotten back to me about it besides the standard list of basic troubleshooting.
I didn't see anyone adding this in the notes, but it does the same thing if you send a post to someone
I've noticed it happens every so often when playing audio posts as well...
People thought we were overreacting when we worried about civil war breaking out and here we are in the middle of an coup attempt with an armed standoff inside the capitol building.
Republicans who refused to impeach the orange terror for crimes he admitted to now on air going “this is an embarrassment to our country.”
This is the embarrassment? Now you’re embarrassed? You ruined the reputation of our country when you refused to enforce the law based on party politics. This is the inevitable conclusion of your actions.
they had a chance to stop this a year ago. they didn’t fucking take it.
with everything that’s happening right now, i don’t have much to say. but i’ll say this.
How do I quickly explain this @glaad is this really amazing group that cheers on and calls out harmful things with LGBTQ media.
We just learned that the Spanish versions of the Supernatural ( @thecwspn ) have two men saying they romantically love each other. Something that was edited out us the American version.
I legit think anyone who believes or doesn’t believe that an American show censored itself for America audiences should report the @TheCW for media defamation. It’s 2020 the CW really can’t have two men saying I love you to each other? Outrageous.
You can boost this, you can like and RT my tweet on it to ping GLAAD and the CW. You can also report media defamation to GLAAD directly. The don’t think the CW can be honest so we need GLAAD to be that watch dog for us again.
Consent does not just apply to sex. It goes for anything. Whether that is hugs, or a pat on the shoulder, or even a handshake.
People also do not need to disclose their trauma as validation for why they do not want to be touched. People are allowed to say “no” to any form of contact, whether they have trauma or not.
Quit taking “please don’t touch me” as a personal attack on you.
Respect people’s bodies. Respect their boundaries. Please.
A couple people have pointed out that consent applies to more than physical boundaries. And they are 100% right. There are mental and emotional boundaries too. This means if someone doesn’t feel like talking, they have that right.
I try to always ask friends if they’re in the right mental place for me to vent to them because it’s important!
End the Electoral College. Give statehood to Puerto Rico and Washington DC.
Investigate voter suppression and strengthen voting rights.
The most votes wins.
If you go to NationalPopularVote.com it will email your state officials for you!
man the electoral college is STUPID
“It stops tyranny of the majority!!” - first, what does that even mean, second, this is a DEMOCRACY and in a DEMOCRACY the majority should rule (**remeber that when the Founders said tyranny of the majority, there were a small wealthy elite calss versus literally all of the rest of America)
“but without the EC, candidates would ignore rural areas!” - they already do that
“they’ll only focus on big cities/states to get votes!” - they already do that and also why do you think Swing States are a thing? Because the EC locks literally every other state regardless of what the actual proportion of voters in them is
“(some other argument saying Candidates otherwise will ignore everyone else)” - They Already Do That
“It’s the only way every state gets a fair say!” - The EC is based off of the number of house and senate seats a state has. it’s like 98% affected by population That’s Not A Fair Say. it’s literally just a math thing
“the electoral will always vote with a state” - there’s literally a supreme court case (Chifalo v Washington) about 3 electoral college voters Not Doing That
“Most people want it though” - most people do not want it
like literally if the president is meant to be a leader of the people why can’t the people actually choose
Anyway. With the revival of the Twilight fandom, please remember the absoluely devastating effects it had on the very real Quileute tribe and maybe think about supporting their Move to Higher Ground movement. The tribe is currently in extreme danger of being essentially wiped out by a tsunami, which the area is very overdue for, and so they're fundraising to move the community outside of the tsunami danger zone.
They're in the process of moving the school already after receiving federal funding, but their goal is to move the whole community as quickly as possible, starting with the most vital things like the school. Things like the Elder center, cultural and community buildings, and residential areas are all still in the danger zone.
If you're interested in Twilight or any of its follow-ups, instead of buying the books, consider just pirating the books (or checking them out at your local library) and using the money you'd have spent on them to donate to the Quileute tribe instead.
Polish anti-repression fund for LGBT+ activists
07/08/2020
Hi guys! Please take time to read this post, I’ll try to make it as short as possible.
A few days ago I posted about two activists suddenly arrested and kept at a police station for putting rainbow flags on statues. Right now, one of these activists is about to be arrested for defacing a truck that drives around Warsaw with very homophobic messages written across it and with a speaker which emits a recording about how gay people are pedophiles and rapists. (You can read about them here).
Margot, the activist, is facing 2 months of unlawful pre-trial detention even though the court ruled against it, but after the public prosecutor’s office filed a complaint, the decision changed. Right now Margot is inside The Campaign Against Homophobia’s office (it’s a polish pro-lgbt NGO), people are there blocking the entrance so the cops can’t come in.
Here is a page in English where you can donate and read about the initative for Margot and for the LGBT struggle in Poland: Stop Bullshit Collective Donation Page
Please consider donating, and if you can’t, reblog it/send this to those who can. The repressions against LGBT people in this country have been getting more and more scary - we need all the help we can get. I’m happy to translate/provide with more links or info.
protesters blocked the car with margot inside so now the police are guarding it
Below is my (shitty) translation of the facebook post from one of polish lgbt orgs Grupa Stonewall:
Let’s sum up today’s events. We’re basing our report on media accounts, so if you were present in person during the events, feel free to add it in the comments.
The court granted the persecutor’s wish and approved the decision to arrest Margot for two months. She’s accussed of stopping and vandalizing the van with homophobic banners (and broadcasting homophobic speech) owned by anti-choice organization Prawo do życia [Right to life].
When the order was relased, Margot was present in the headquarters of Kampania Przeciw Homofobii [Campaign against homophobia] and protesters started to gather there. After the police arrived Margot wanted to go with them, but the police didn’t want to take her.
The protesters and Margot then moved to Krakowskie Przedmieście [street in Warsaw] and only there Margot was taken into the unmarked police car by plain-clothes officers.
Present were many journalists and members of parliament, including Maciej Gdula, Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk, Magdalena Filiks.
Protesters were blocking the police car and the police officers used force against them. According to witnesses, people from the crowd were singled out and taken one by one away from the car. As reported force was used against the journalists too and one female member of parliament was hit.
Police didn’t try to create any peaceful solution before using force. In the end they managed to drive away with Margot. At this point [7th of August, around 21] the peaceful protest is still going on at Krakowskie Przedmieście. The police is asking people to disperse.
Today proved that the force is the only way the current government understands. One of the activists arrested for two months, a preventative measure usually deployed against the people accused of the most serious crimes.
We have no doubt that the next weeks will bring more repressions from the government. We cannot allow it. [Here are the details of upcoming protest in Poznań, as far as i know there are similar ones organized in many cities]
more than 40 people arrested… all cops are bastards & polish followers please look for protests happening in the upcoming days

Scotland has created an official tartan for Scottish Muslims: blue for the Scottish flag, green for Islam, w/ five white lines representing the five pillars of Islam, six gold lines representing the six articles of faith, and a black square representing the Holy Kabah.
If you’re not Scottish, you might not know how big of a deal this is. Quoting Attire’s Mind: “This is a signal that they are not only just a full part of Scotland now, but family. Clans, as defined by tartans, are large scale families, and the totality of them encompass the family of the Scottish people. “
I found this really important tiktok about what to do if a Jehovah's Witness or Morman missionary comes to your door:
I spent some time in a Jehovah's Witness church. They're exceptionally skilled at recruiting people into their church. (And I was an ATHEIST)
I left after a couple months, I stayed just long enough to see that they explicitly believe women are inferior to men, and of course, that homosexuality is a sin on par with murder.
The whole missionary door to door thing is NOT how Jehovah's Witnesses recruit. That is how they convince their members that the world is out to get them. One of the first things they teach is that Jesus requires you to try to convert non Christians to the faith. (They say non Christian but mean non JW.)
Then they say, "look how people treat us, just for the crime of wanting to save their soul"
They have long time church members tutor the incoming members to smooth the process over. They're trained to smooth away any doubts you may have about the church.
It is a textbook cult but because it's a Christian cult, nobody will do anything about it.
I’ll represent you in court :)
Isn’t it consensual when she gave him the photos when they were together 🔚
From a lawyer: “The photos were consensual. But she did not consent to distribution “
He really thought he did something with that comment and his lil stank emoji at the end lol

tw// explosion
Hello, hope all of you are safe and doing well.
You may have heard of what happened in Lebanon today and if not, basically, there was a big explosion in Beirut that affected many cities, destroyed shops, homes, cars, caused many injuries and deaths. The cause is uncertain.
As a fellow lebanese myself (that also lives there), today was absolutely terrifying, probably the scariest moments of my life. We heard a deafening sound as the floors were shaking. Some of us thought it was an attack, others thought it was an earthquake. As soon as it ended many expected a second one, which luckily never happened.
Here's a video of what happened that was sent to me, there are also many others that you can find online.
Windows were broken, doors wrecked, cars flipped over, buildings collapsed, people hit by flying or falling objects, and unfortunately, many didn't make it out alive.
We were one of the lucky ones, our families and friends were all safe and our homes were fine.
Some people couldn't even get out of the crumbling builings, so we saw corpses being pulled out, although some people survived the crash. But wherever we looked, there was blood, poeple were half covered in it, their shirts, pants, hair, everything. And that sight was traumatizing.
We watched the news with elders severely injured, children with blood-spattered shirts and people in pain that couldn't get in the hospitals because they were full.
Some people are missing. Just try to imagine the pain and fear their families and friends are feeling.
Articles about what happened, there are a lot more
Officials expect death toll to rise after huge blast rips through Lebanon's capital.
The explosion took place at the port shortly before 19:00 local time (18:00 CET) with a large cloud of smoke billowing over the city. Eyewit
Not only are we in the middle of a pandemic, but Lebanon is also going through a very serious economical crisis. To give you an example, before, $1 equaled 1 500 lebanese pounds. Nowadays, $1 equals more than 7 000 lebanese pounds. Not to mention that we obviously don't have any dollars at disposition, so yeah we're fucked.
People are hungry, homeless, unemployed. And even if they are getting paid, it'll be useless since the prices of everything went up because they were affected by the economical fiasco.
Important additional information
Today, I heard my 7 year old cousins scream in fear that they were going to die. I saw my aunt shaking, worried that her children won't survive. I saw my dad freak out while trying to reassure us when we both knew that we were uncertain about the next minutes of our lives. I heard the panic in the trembling voices of my family and friends as they couldn't believe what had just happened. I thought my loved ones and I were going to die in the next seconds.
I'm never forgetting those moments and feelings.
I don't think signing petitions will help, i don't even know if the following links will help either, I just know Lebanon and it's people are desperate for anything because the future of this country is extremely uncertain.

I think donating to the red cross would be the most helpful, so if you are considering it, it'd be great.
There are so many great threads on twitter about what you can do to help, just search help lebanon or something to find them. Also if you can, please donate, and as I said, the lebanese pound is pretty much worthless currently so USD is way more useful to us.
PLEASE SHARE
I've seen in the Armenian community a lot of calls/warnings to donate either to Lebanese NGO's or the Lebanese Red Cross (mainly to the Red Cross). Their advice is to NOT donate to the government or government supported links/websites as the donations will most likely NOT reach their intended destination.
