Isn't a really important part of the movie them being..equals? I feel like this is forgotten. Neither of them are 'more stupid'. They're equals. You can't compare their technology because their separate evolutionary needs made them create different things. Why are you people weirdly obsessed with borderline dehumanising them - even if one isn't 'technically' human, he is still intelligent & with a conscious. His Species Literally Went To Space. They're equals.

Okay okay hear me out on streamer!AU

Grace comes home tired from his class and having no caffeine that day and doesn't even notice Simon is streaming. He just sees his husband playing a game and assumes he's checking it out for a stream. Simon is unusually silent because he's absolutely locked in

Grace has a hood up on a hoodie because it's cold or something idk. He climbs into Simon's lap and rests his head on his shoulder because eepy sleepy and Simon is warm af. Simon freezes. Chat goes BALLISTIC. They start screaming about papa star and how cute they are together. His face isn't shown because of the hood but Grace is absolutely mortified. He always checks after that incident

LMAO YES!! This is literally them and Simon will lean to whisper in Grace’s ear from time to time and chat can’t hear them as it’s away from the microphone. At the end of stream when he’s saying goodbye, Simon is like “ok guys I’m leaving. He’s fallen asleep. Bye!” And chat catches a glimpse of Simon easily still carrying grace as he shuts off stream.

Everyone online goes crazy about it because they knew Simon was strong but strong enough to do that?!

According to Andy Weir's Eridian biology document, Eridians are better multitaskers than humans will ever be, but the trade off is they're physically incapable of locking in. SO funny to me. Yes this species can build a diorama while simultaneously blitzing through mathematics equations and also partaking in intense gossiping, but they cannot do any of those things for longer than, like, half an hour without going crazy. Species of supercomputers cursed with the TikTok attention span.

Rocky mocks Grace when he says that Rocky is distracting him by starting complex conversations while he's Trying To Do Science. "Human brain have to stop activity just because talking question? Useless! One track mind!"

Then Grace is on hour six of his "trying to recreate skittles" hyperfocus and Rocky is like What The Fuck. Statement.

Yeah human brains can only do a single very consuming task at a time but it can do it for a very long time. The one track in our one track minds spans multiple countries. Persistence predators, babey.
