its obvious to me that this whole obsession with edgy subversive art is white artists attempt to create something counterculture in a culture where they are the dominant power regardless of what their art is like due simply to them being white. whether it be a white transgender queer making art of two incestuous siblings cutting eachother sexually or a white republican making an episode of hollywood television where rhe characters do a line of coke and accidental blackface, these "edgy subject materials" are the only way they know how to define themselves or their politics from other white artists. white art is the assumption, the expectation, and thus there is not any kind of art in my opinion that a white person can make that is truly counter culture. it's the closest thing they can get to feeling like a misunderstood artist before their time. this is why their identities and politics become centered around their ~freedom~ to be this sick and twisted, because it makes them feel like their art has meaning and purpose in a culture where they are already ontop. they want to know what it feels like to have a culture that counters the mainstream, and because they haven't actually expefienced what its like to be an artist of color whos art is suppressed the only things they can bring to the table is the things THEY'VE had suppressed in the past: their own racist past, and their bizarre sexual desires they feel ashamed of. it's literally all they have.

it's almost as if the reality of incest is always grooming and coercion and violence. it's almost as if the reality of incest is that it's only possible when one person abuses the power that they have over the other. it's almost as if the reality of incest is about manipulating a more vulnerable person into submission than genuine attraction. it's almost as if people are conditioned to believe that family comes first and to obey them above all else. so if a family member tells you to keep quiet while they enter your shower and grope you and that it's okay for them to do this because you're family, well how can you say no to that?

people have been rightfully pointing out in the notes also that the majority of incest victims are children. and i'll add that these "relationships" are often with their parents, who again condition them to believe that family comes first and that they have ownership of their bodies by virtue of them simply being the parent. of course, the people who are diehard defenders of the "consensual incest" argument do Not give a shit about this, though.

it is kinda crazy how people simultaneously do a lot of loud worrying about csa and the nefarious pedophiles grooming their kids but then also do what should be seen as obvious preemptive sexual grooming on their own kids. the culture of “youre my kid” with an unsubtle undertone of possession and also the entitlement to children’s bodies that most parents have is like just. like when you make it clear to your kids that they have no right to bodily autonomy or that their upset over you touching them a certain way is inappropriate and not valid how are you going to expect that they then magically are able to say that those same feelings are suddenly valid when they’re caused by someone else? like so much of child raising involves such antagonistic and oftentimes physically violent forced access to children’s bodies often despite their active verbal nonconsent. and youre somehow unable to make the connection as to how this type of boundary stomping erodes someone’s ability to identify when your discomfort is “valid” vs “not valid” and how that would clearly leave someone incredibly vulnerable to sexual abuse
