Do you plan on majorly changing anything with the main Yandere mystery? Like, in a sense of subverting the expectations?
I ask cuz going into reading a rewrite, the audience would assume Yuki is behind the murders already, should you still treat it as a mystery. This isn't a bad thing, there's a lot of room for more storytelling that way, I'm just curious as to how you plan to go about it.
Unless you don't wanna spoil anything in that aspect of the story lol

I do enjoy YHS' mystery, I want to build up some of the original aspects. I hope people go into my rewrite with everything they know thrown away, only because it's a REWRITE not a RETELLING. Like JStar and Gareth don't have a relationship, JStar makes a joke about Gareth's death Infront of the body! heheh

Sookie kills herself, which is canon. I want to expand on it, and make it more twisted/more ugly.
Her story (for my rewrite) is that she is quiet and passionate, she spends her days reading and spending time with people she is comfortable with.
She discovered that the city is going to put more chemicals in the creeks, lakes, and any body of water. shocked emoji! She advocates against the city, but fails terribly. very bad lmao. A realisation sets in, she isn't a threat, she drowns herself to be reborn as a sea monster. She scares off workers and companies.
How does Okami feel when she comes in to replace Gareth?? Does she have any prior connection to him (like in Yandere when they're co-workers)?
I feel like I got wisdom in this field bc my teacher died when i was in their class, twice! They sent in a sub till the next school year or next semester, I think thats what would happen to the class.
Okami would know Gareth, when he was a lot younger. Gareth and Jane would be very social, outgoing couple. I imagine them hiking together and doing charity work. When Garethās health goes down, he wouldnāt go out with Jane anymore and stay homebound. He stopped looking presentable, talked a lot less and kept a small circle. This gave him the reputation of mystery man, or just a loner. After Jane died, he gave up the little hope that lived in him.
Okami and Roman dont know what happened between then and now. It seemed like Gareth just tanked one day and never got out. Okami still saw Gareth as that happy man, she denied the new him, thinking he would snap out of it.

Okami would start to take mental health seriously when she starts the next semester. She very easygoing and understanding. She wants to redeem herself for Gareth.
I try not to put Yandere, TS (2 as well), or any spin off in my rewrite because I donāt wanna worry about making them all connect.
about your rewrite! does it change the Samantha arc much? if so, how does it? and how is Sam shown to have their bad behaviors encouraged by others? (just in general, but you can connect it to the rewrite of the Samantha arc if youād like! thatād be sick.)
I donāt think Iāll add the Samantha arc into my rewrite, I never liked the reason why its in the series. Also I donāt think it would fit into MY narrative.
I do like Samantha as an idea, I always pictured Sam as a theatre kid, drag could be something he would do. Or when there arenāt many girls in a theatre production, he would dress as Samantha to fill in a female role. So fun!
My Sam is kind hearted, he enjoys helping people and doing tasks for others. He very much blends into the crowd, he doesnāt have a passion yet so he stands still. His bad habits tend to be in manic episodes, high to low days. He tries everything but doesnāt feel like he belongs anywhere.
I think YHS works best when all the characters have a dynamic relationship with each other. Sam knows everyyyonnneeeeeeeeee, he does anything a person asks of him! I think his classmates would use him for tasks because thats how he presents himself as. Though Id say most think itās a way to help him find his way, Sam gets very busy with the workload that he denies himself time.
Sam is the main character in my rewrite, my antagonist would threaten Samās self control (and or passion. i.e if Sam even helps his community?) Most importantly, they have to try to destroy the dynamic set in the school.
