like, the most compelling ships for me always stem out of one thing: the characters have a profound, ongoing effect on each other’s senses of selves. when they are apart, the characters’ actions are still affected by each other. the way they approach the world changes because of the other.

which is this deeply Austenian view of ideal romantic relationships as mechanisms by which we come to know ourselves better and become better versions of ourselves. good romance, for me, is always tied in with a sense of self-actualization, and the way in which a beloved partner allows a person to know themselves better.

i drew the last dinner party for my pokemon card project! timelapse of the drawing is also posted on my tiktok!

im gonna be seeing them in concert this friday in LA - hope to hand them out to fans or even the band :-) was fun experimenting on this project. i hope future ones i make look even more realistic!!

making concert trading cards !!

i was at a festival this last weekend and someone standing next to me in the pit gave me a pokemon card made with fanart of the headliners. it inspired me to make my own, especially as a live music enthusiast and pokemon fan.

this is my first try making my own concert trading card and i am pretty pleased with how it came out as a sampler :-) based on my chappell roan drawing !

i watched a few tiktoks on how to make custom pokemon cards, then i made my own using a pokemon card design site, then sized it up on 8.5x11 paper and printed it on a color printer, cut to size and glued to an existing pokemon card, then i added holographic sticker.

these were the original person's fan art pokemon cards featuring lorde, the xx, and hayley williams. theirs were much more legit lol. their IG is hakobyan.io

reminds me of a show i went to in CDMX where fans traded prints of the graphic designs they made of the artist while waiting in line or in the pit. it was a super wholesome interaction and everyone got a cute souvenir to remember the show we all experienced together :')

i hope to make more these cards for all the concerts i go to as a way to chat with those around me, craft, and give myself incentive to draw more !
