Thanks for the ref!
3 silk pieces in my size and matching colors from the thrift store for $3 each. I really do find the best stuff the day before severe weather for some reason. 😭
an angel from @myuk0
thanks for the ref!
Love it when he sparkles and Natsume's just like (-_-;)
I feel bad for the team that did the Baby-ganics chamomile verbena scent. It took me like a week to get used to it, but after I got over the initial weirdness I really appreciate the. well. definitely not subtle aroma. but it's like... two notches above unscented then make it really strong.
Anyways. It's actually nice when you give it a chance, and I definitely wouldn't have if I'd encountered it in a sample bottle at the grocery store instead of $1.99 at Ollie's Bargain Outlet.
I'm sorry, chamomile verbena team. The world wasn't ready for your vision.
Meiji period fashion was some of the best in the world, speaking purely from an aesthetic standpoint you can really see the collision of European and Japanese standards of beauty and how their broad agreement even in particulars (the similarity between Japanese and Gibson girl bouffants, the obi vs the corset, the obi knot vs the bustle, the mutual covetousness for exotic textiles, the feverish swapping of both art styles and subjects) combined and produced some of the most interesting cultural exchange we have this level of documentation for. Europeans were wearing kimono or adapting them into tea gowns, japanese were pairing lacy Edwardian blouses with skirt hakama and little button up boots. haori jackets with bowler hats and European style lapels. if steampunk was any good as an aesthetic it would steal wholesale from the copious records we have in both graphic arts and photography of how people were dressing in this milieu.
«The botany professor,» from Kkokei Shimbun, October 20, 1908. she's wearing a kimono blouse or haori, edwardian skirt or hakama, gibson girl bouffant, a lacy high-collar blouse with cravat and brooch, and a pocket watch with chain
1910-1930 (Taishō era, right after Meiji, which I should have included in my OP) men's haori with western lapels
Grandparents came back from vacation with a place themed toy for the boy and a Disney Princess doll for the girl. (Went absolutely nowhere near either Florida or California.)
That's a sexist macro aggression at this point.
Headcanon that Sai floats, so he's always the perfect hight to look over people's shoulders. (Nosy!)
I cannot help the height discrepancies for any other character, but for Sai it's because he's a ghost, and he's floating.
Hikaru would whoop Sai's ass if he found out the invisible ghost feet included three to four inch inch platform shoes. And he could do it, too- there's no way the Heian era go prodigy with stupidly long hair even for the times got fuck all exercise.
Sooo much untapped potential in the 'Sai is incarnated into a physical body' genre. Aged up Hikaru especially would have a Category 5 meltdown event when he realized how much work Sai's outfit did presence-wise.
I don't think any of us have truly grasped the effect of putting Sai in modern clothes. Many fan artists have tried, but they mostly fall back on the projected mystique of what we see in canon rather than grappling with what would actually happen if you combined that face with a cardigan or sweater vest.
I HAVE EVIDENCE STRAIGHT FROM THE VOLUME CHARACTER BIOS
Behold! A nice young man between the ages of 16 and 22 who is always the first at the table to be carded if he is actually 18+.
Possibly also the John Mulany "Tall Child" bit depending on your opinion on ghost clogs.

These $3 silk "dry clean only" sweatpants from the thrift store are about to learn some things about the real world. I will spare you the clothes killer (the dryer), but you're going to either sink or swim on garment bag delicate cycle cold wash with Woolite.
I have extended every grace that I can (including sweater racks to dry flat!), but I am NOT spending more per wash than I paid for the clothes.
Batman-themed gesture practice
I don't know why, but these poses scream ballerino to me.
And now I want to see that AU.
Very young Bruce (before his parents died) being taken to his first "fancy show" with his parents and becoming enamored with the dancers. Immediately deciding he wanted to learn how to move so gracefully. His parents being loving, supportive parents and putting him in classes. He takes to it like a duck to water and loves it twice as much.
That night, the Waynes weren't just coming from any old performance. They were coming from one of Bruce's recitals, the first in which he had the male lead.
Bruce stops taking classes after that, though he never quite loses the habit of the stretches and the poses. On the best of days, Alfred might even catch a glimpse of him dancing around the manor. It doesn't quite bring him the joy it once did, but he does find the motions and repetitions meditative. Those moments grow fewer and farther between as Bruce grows up. And still, he refuses to perform again.
Most of his skills are only truly refined when he begins training for Batman; wherein the ability to move with grace, silence, and efficiency proves incredibly useful.
The most observant and knowledgeable Gothamites see the ballerino in the Bat. Of course few who are not trained in the art themselves are willing to see their macho cryptid vigilante as anything as effeminate as a ballet dancer.
Little Bruce's distant childhood dream is long forgotten by the rest of the world in the face of his new clumsy playboy Brucie persona.
A few years after coming to the manor, Dick finds an old leotard tucked away in storage. It's the right size for him at the circus, but the colors and style are wrong. He asks, but neither Alfred not Bruce seem keen to say more than that it's a relic of the past.
Many years later, Cass decides she wants to be a dancer. Bruce supports her, of course he does, even as a quite part of him still grieves, as it always will. And perhaps sometimes, in soft moments in the studio when Cass requests a partner to help her get the moves right, Bruce can rediscover that old love again.

Mx. Proship. The only one who cares about the kink overton window are people who pride themselves on being "deviant freaks." The vast majority of "antis" don't give a fuck that their "ankle fetish" would make them a extreme pervert in this hypothetical universe where anything "more extreme" is outlawed. They think drawing child porn is immoral. Full stop. No relativity. Not because it's "too kinky."
