Angelique was amazed and she curiously reached up to touch one of the slits, but she stopped when she felt him freeze, and she soon heard it too. That sound of splashing and shouting. Packing her things up in her bag she got up and dashed over to the wall of the enclosure, grabbing hold of one of the fake mountains and gripped tightly so she could haul herself up. Shiro’s enclosure was made up of fake scenery on one side, separating out the tanks. “Woah…!” she squeaked when her foot slipped a bit but she scrambled her way up to the edge, panting softly and heart racing.
Her eyes widened as she saw the display of a second merman, also an orca, slightly smaller, but held great size like Shiro. “Keith…?” she mumbled to herself then she watched him thrash for a moment. Tearing her eyes away for a moment she looked over at Shiro. “Can you use something to calm him down? Like echolocation, anything to let him know that you’re here. It could relax him…because I have a very bad feeling someone else is going to lose his arm. And Keith’s injured…if he keeps thrashing it’s going to make it worse.” she stared down at the other and gave a faint smile.
Grasping the edge, she took a breath before hauling herself up and slid a foot to find purchase on the neighboring tank’s side. Gulping as she stared down at the darkened water below she felt a nerve-wracking sense of vertigo, but she shook it off, climbing herself down so she could reach the platform where the workers were trying to get Keith to calm down or get him into the water, it was hard to tell. Perhaps she was just a little bit crazy and she felt her foot slip slightly on the slightly icy platform and tried to stabilize. She wasn’t about to proclaim herself as an expert, but she inhaled, placing her finger and thumb to her lips and let out a sharp whistle.
“If you keep that up someone’s going to lose an arm like the first time!” she snapped, trying to get a sense of authority in her voice even if she’d only been working for a short time. “In case you haven’t noticed, he’s injured and agitated. And if you keep trying to do what you’re doing, he’s just gonna fight back more and make it worse. So just leave him alone and back off for now.” She was hopeful Shiro could do something that would calm Keith down a little, just enough she could get him out of the binds and call Allura for some help. If they wanted to get Keith into water, they had to attend to that nasty wound first.
Shiro was amazed at her. She was daring. Very much so. “Keith! Keith it’s going to be okay! They’re trying to help you!” he called to him. He kept an eye on Angelique to make sure she didn’t fall in. In fact, he kept one hand hovering just behind her as a precaution.
Keith snapped at another handler as they tried to put something in the wound. While his teeth missed flesh, they dug into the fabric of the man’s uniform. With one jerk of his head he flung him aside. Just as he managed to get another human in his jaws, he heard a familiar voice. That voice stopped him from biting through the torso of the man he held. Stunned, he released him harmlessly. Head scanning around for the voice’s owner. “… Shiro?” Listening to Shiro, violet eyes glanced back to the humans around him. After his outburst they had backed up. Giving him space. Keith squirmed in his bindings wanting so much to have his arms free.
“… He’s calming down… Keith don’t be scared. They need to treat that wound! Let them do what they need to do. Be gentle…” Shiro had feared for the lives of both handlers for a moment there. Especially the second one. That man was still laying where Keith had left him. Alive, uninjured, but clearly scared shitless. The other was relatively unharmed, just seeing stars. Shiro moved closer to Angelique and gently moved one hand under her feet. Holding her up.
