The SS United States, an iconic American ocean liner, was withdrawn from service in 1969 following the financial collapse of United States Lines and declining passenger numbers due to the rise of jet air travel.

During its operational career from 1952 to 1969, the SS United States made approximately 400 transatlantic crossings, carrying nearly 1.7 million passengers without any major accidents or fires.

Crater Lake is a volcanic crater lake in south-central Oregon. It partly fills a 2,148-foot-deep (655 m) caldera that was formed around 7,700 years ago by the collapse of the volcano Mount Mazama.

No rivers flow into or out of the lake; the evaporation is compensated for by rain and snowfall at a rate such that the total amount of water is replaced every 150 years. With a depth of 1,949 feet (594 m), the lake is the deepest in the United States. -wikipedia

It is especially pretty, in my opinion, after a snowfall. We were lucky enough many years ago to see it after a light snowfall the night before. When we drove up to it, the sky was bright blue and the snow was fluffy. It was a beautiful sight.

Known as Mindebrønden, the Memorial Fountain in Qaqortoq, Greenland, is the oldest and one of only two public fountains on the entire island. Built between 1927 and 1932 by architect Pavia Høegh, it features three bronze whales spouting water and sits in the heart of Qaqortoq's town square.

Hotels and restaurants line the Quai de l'Amiral Courbet in the resort town of Villefranche-sur-Mer on the French Riviera. The yellow building on the left is the Chapelle Saint-Pierre decorated by French artist Jean Cocteau between 1956 and 1957.

I remember being in a carriage like this back in 1980. I just remember it had upholstery on the seats and the wooden floor like this one. I also remember people smoking in some of the carriages. I remember that a few years later there was a fire in the underground.
