Every time you catch yourself going, "Fuck, are humans just inherently evil and naturally inclined to selfishness and harm???" you HAVE to remember that that's literally a core ideal of Christianity.

So if it feels inescapable and like evidence of it is everywhere, whether at times or always, that might just because you're in a Western country where you're surrounded by Christians who believe that, fundamentally, in their worldview. And also they talk and make art about it all the time and run the vast majority of news outlets. And spent over a thousand years burning any art or texts that disagreed with them. Etc. etc.

If you're gonna come to as drastic and painful a conclusion as that, at least take the time first to make sure you're not working with biased evidence (surrounded by too many people and cultural products that believe original sin is real)

And if it turns out the feeling WAS partly the result of cultural Christianity, then hey, that's great news, because it means there's that much (and it really is SO MUCH) less evidence that humans inherently suck. Which is good, because we don't

The weird thing is "humans just inherently evil and naturally inclined to selfishness and harm" is largely a Protestant thing. Catholicism and Orthodoxy just don't think that. Orthodoxy Does not thing Hell in ethereal, and for all we joke about the Catholic Guilt, Catholicism is fairly clear that it believes all people are good at their core because humans where made in the spiritual image of God, and it when you cut yourself off from that part of you that you Sin. (Not Christian btw, just a storyteller)

‘The Ghetto Tarot’: Haitian artists transform classic tarot deck into stunning real life scenes:

Welcome to the Ghetto Tarot, a project from award-winning documentary photographer Alice Smeets and a group of Haitian artists known as Atis Rezistans. The idea was to take the classic Rider-Waite tarot deck of 78 cards and create a photographic version of each card using settings and objects in the vibrant ghetto of Haiti.

As Smeets says, “The spirit of the Ghetto Tarot project is the inspiration to turn negative into positive while playing. The group of artists ‘Atiz Rezistans’ use trash to create art with their own visions that are a reflection of the beauty they see hidden within the waste. They are claiming the word ‘Ghetto,’ thus freeing themselves of its depreciating undertone and turning it into something beautiful.”

Hi, I wanted to show off Willow, my willow tree Gajinka I made so they could win the sexiest tree contest (willow trees one! So proud). It was my first attempt at drawing dreads, though in my rendering them I think I made the hair look like tinsel.

Well personally, you'd have my vote! For a first try, you did good! It's more of how the locs are slicked to the head that throws it off; I thought I was looking at a durag at first (which would also have fucked as a design choice 🤷🏾‍♀️).
