This poem book will send you through a roller coaster of emotions, but you’ll understand what A Knot On My Heart feels like. It’s like holding on to a rope, not knowing whether to make it tighter, looser, or just let it go and just putting your heart on strike.

Faith As Small As A Mustard Seed

It’s easy to say that one has faith in something, but do we really?? Can you truly say you’ve put 100% of your trust in God and didn’t doubt not one bit?? Fear of the unthinkable stops us from trusting Him 100%. We may have 95% of faith in Him, but it’s that 5% that can overpower our thinking. What is your 5% made up of??

1% =Fear??

1%=Doubt??

1%=Worry??

1%=Anxiety??

1%=Regret??

But what if you only needed 5% of faith and let God handle the rest?? Would you trust Him to do so??

Different Kinds of Love

When you truly love someone, their happiness becomes yours.

When you love the wrong one, they tend to strip away your happiness whether you know it or not.

When you’re looking for love, you tend to look in the wrong places when it could be right in front of you.

When you aren’t looking for love, it’s steady knocking at your door.

When it’s toxic love, your feet is pulling you to the door, but your heart won’t let you leave.

Love is love...but not all love is real or healthy love. Learn the difference...

Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop

There’s something about that feeling of achieving something you thought you couldn’t achieve. It makes you want to continue to reach for the stars. It’s the motivation we all need that reminds us that anything is possible and never to limit ourselves.

Sick and Single

Being sick and single is not the greatest combination. I know when I’m sick I want to be catered to. Not have my mom bring me soup, but have him bring me soup, give me a foot rub, and just making sure I’m ok. But how can you be catered to when there’s no caterer?? 🤷🏾‍♀️

Insomnia

It’s that moment you talk yourself into going to bed on time so you can actually get a good few hours of sleep and then BOOM out of nowhere you wake up in the middle of the night and can’t go back to sleep. You study the time as you try and convince yourself that you’re tired and should get some more sleep, but of course, when does your body ever listen?? It wants to stay up and think about everything that can be thought about when you awake at the appropriate hour!! So much for a few good hours of sleep 😔🤦🏾‍♀️

Good morning my friend. Just a reminder to start your day off right. Stretch, take a shower, eat a good breakfast, and take care of yourself. Really. Remind yourself that today is a new day and that the world holds many wondrous things for you. You are loved, treasured, and will only be supported today.

What Makes You, You??

Sometimes we need to sit back and think about who we are and why we are the way we are. What makes you, you??

Is it the way you smell??

The way you deal with criticism??

The way you love??

The way you hide from love??

Is it the way you twirl your spaghetti??

Is it how you tilt your head and close your eyes as you kiss him/her passionately??

The way you sound when you sing your favorite song??

The way you dress when you have to attend an important meeting??

Or is it the way you walk into the room and all eyes are on you??

Better yet, is it the way you dismiss people that you feel are beneath you??

Take a moment and really ask yourself, what makes me different than the person next to me?? What makes me, me??

Music

Blasting music as I clean is great therapy for me. It’s that moment of getting lost in the lyrics and moving to the beat. Without music, I don’t think cleaning would be this enjoyable 🤷🏾‍♀️

In My Own Skin

Being comfortable in your own skin takes time. No one wakes up saying they love everything about themselves, flaws and all. We all have experienced (at least one time) looking in the mirror and wishing we could change something about ourselves for the better. We tend to compare ourselves to those idolize, but if we all looked the same there would be nothing to complain about.

Freedom of Speech

Yes, we have the opportunity to speak what we feel, but that doesn’t mean to not be mindful of those we may hurt in the process. Speaking freely should come with some guidelines. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying sugar coat everything you say, BUT take a second to make sure you won’t regret what you’re about to say. Once it’s said, you can’t take it back.
