One of the most believed pieces of miss information in the Batfam fandom: how Jason Todd was revived
While movies such as Under the Red Hood have depicted him as being revived by the Lazarus pit, that is NOT THE CASE and the amount of people I see thinking of this as true is staggering
So now for how it actually happened…
If you wish to read it for yourself: https://batcave.biz/reader/34728/249612#page-320
It genuinely surprises me how many people don’t know this, it is not as common knowledge as it should be I fear
Anita you deserve so much more than you’ve been given…
I wish she was as popular as the other young Justice members. She deserves the world.
Tim’s relationship with his father.
The fandom has a lot of debates surrounding this topic. If you couldn’t guess, when I say father I mean Jack Drake.
Yet, what most people don’t know is that there’s an official comic issue from 1992 that at least I believe sums it up perfectly.
“To the father I never knew” Batman #480
It consists of Tim writing a letter to his dad with everything he’s wanted to say. It’s in cursive & you probably won’t find it online, so I’ll copy & paste it here.
This letter, at least to me really tells us about their relationship and honestly a lot about Tim himself and how he views his role as Robin.
I encourage you to check out the comic yourself, there’s so much to it not just the letter and it’s great!!
Dear Dad,
I wish we could go back and start over again! When I was a kid, I used to dream - to pray - that you and mom would stop travelling, Forget business and just settle down. We'd be together, the way a family ought to be...
Now I have my wish. I’m going to be with you all the time. And it’s tearing me apart
Funny, how once you never seemed to care at least, you never showed me that you did. And now you want to ruin my life.
Do you really think we can start over…?
I’ve no idea who you think I am, Dad - but I’m not that boy. I had to fend for myself for a long time. I changed, dad. I have a lot of… secrets.
You couldn’t be more wrong about Bruce Wayne. Despite what he seems, he is the only truly great man I have ever known. He… helps people. And he never asks for anything in return.
I’m not interested in your business, dad. I’ve already found my place in the world. I know what I want to be!
So how does it sound, Dad? Your own son is Robin. Understand now why I can’t come back? Gotham is a cesspool. Tragedy stalks on every street. I can help, dad. I’m needed!
Strange, how you can come to love a city. Even one as ugly and rotten as Gotham.
All those millions of people, the lines of their lives crossing, touching, tangling… almost as if the city itself is alive.
I love you, Dad - but I’ve found my place. I know who I am.
I’m part of my city.
Sometimes I wish we could start over… but I know we can’t. We have to take things from exactly where we are.
Reading old comics is so funny
Because wdym part of the penguins evil plan involved Batman agreeing to endorse his umbrella business
Now, for something they never mention about being an ao3 author…
The amount of fucking scammer bots asking for you to commission their art without even reading the fic!
Why do you expect any author on ao3 to even have a bank account…
There is so many more of these, this is just a few.
Out of all the times I’ve heard of halluci!jason, no one ever told me he was sassy
I mean he is kinda creepy, but people always described him as haunting. So he’s so much more sassy than I expected
(It’s from “taking wing” Nightwing: secret files & origins #1)
Why I have complex feelings about Tim taking a break from being Robin
These two are both Tim’s thoughts on being Robin and quitting In the 90’s
On one side, Tim planned on quitting and living a normal life at first
On the other hand, he later realized he could never quit because the world would always be broken & he’d need to do his best to help it.
So imagining him taking a break is both like him giving up on his mission even if it’s for a bit while also honoring who he was In the beginning of his time as Robin.
He’s always been Robin out of necessity.
Young Justice #7 & I forgot where the first pannels are from
Underutilized Tim fact #9
Tim had to talk a guy down from killing himself when he was fourteen and fairly new to being Robin!
(Batman #466 “no more heroes” in case you wanna check it out)
Reminder: contrary to popular belief, Tom king did not create Ace the dog
It’s apparently a really common belief that Tom king made him??? This strip is from 1991 but he’s probably older than that. We love Ace the OG bat dog
Young Justice 98’s height & weight
This is all according to the character profiles from young Justice: secret files & origins #1
Tim
Height: 5’1; Weigh: 115 lbs.
Bart
Height: 5’1; Weigh: 110 lbs.
Kon el
Height: 5’7; Weigh: 130 lbs.
Greta
Height: 4’8; Weigh: N/A
Cassie
Height: 5’1; Weight: 90 lbs.
Cissie
Height: 5’7 Weigh: 107 lbs
It also includes red tornados weight & height. Plus, their heights & weight for when they become grown ups but I don’t think anyone’s interested in that
Don’t forget, this is js when young Justice 98 took place
Non American measurements provided by @artazel
Tim Drake - 154,94 cm; 52,163 kg
Bart Allen - 154,94 cm; 49,895 kg
Kon El - 170,18 cm; 58,967 kg
Greta Hayes - 142,24 cm; N/A
Cassie Sandsmark - 154,94 cm; 40,823 kg
Cissie King-Jones - 170,18 cm; 48,534 kg
Aged down Bruce reminds me a LOT of Cass
He literally birthed her himself istg
Also I love his drippy speech box
Underutilized Tim fact #9
Was literally on the run from the justice league with young justice after having their base being blown up and kinda becoming international criminals.
Cassie is also there btw she’s just on the lookout to see what’s going on in another tree branch
Is it really the cape tho?…
Who hasn’t he kissed istg
Should Alfred be brought back?
Yes (Jason Todd style)
Yes (they re-con it so he never died)
Yes (other way)
No (I didnt like him much)
No (it was his time)
No (other reason)
I’d enjoy people giving reasons or explanations for your choice
This is the most dad looking Bruce panel I’ve EVER seen
The wrinkles, the closed eyes smile, the pose, that’s a real dad righttttttttttttt there
In honor of Tim being taught by Bruce how to drive in the newest comic
Let’s not forget Tim’s roots, he taught himself how to drive because Bruce was always traveling as Batman during Tim’s time as Robin.
Comic: brotherhood of the fist, part three: monkey fist (Robin #55)
