hi all! welcome to my duck blog. i go by dawn and use she/they pronouns (take your pick!), and i'm completely normal about donald duck (<- lying). besides just loving the characters, i also enjoy learning about disney publishing, different art styles, translation/localisation conventions, and so on.

i also like ID'ing stories (here's a guide!). sometimes i manage. frequently i do not. the odds of me being able to find a source for a completely out-of-context panel or story beat are low, but i'm always up for a challenge! feel free to send me any unsourced posts you see if you want me (and/or my followers) to have a go.

What if we were two sides of the same coin. What if i lived in your shadow all my life but found comfort in the darkness and dont know what to do once youre gone. What if youre the only person who understands. What if you have have no idea what i went through. What if we went through the same traumas but ended up with oposite conclusions about our suffering. What if i dont recognize you anymore. What if i see the ghost of my former self reflected through your eyes. What if it never had to go this way. What if this was the only way things were ever going to go

when Della comes back, Louie, trying to cover all his bases and watch out for all the angles, suggests it's really a trick or a curse from Magica, which does make you think about why Scrooge hid all information about Della. worth considering, other than his own shame, grief, and anger [not to mention that it's a useful device for propelling the plot in s1], is that he is a man with a lot of enemies. if someone with the right resources and malevolence realized he'd lost someone very close to him as a result of his own actions.... well. that's a definitive Achilles' heel, so it makes sense to hide it as thoroughly as possible.

but imagine if magica had used Della's disappearance against him at some point in the past. if someone had led him to believe she'd really come home, only for it to be a trick to get his guard down and attack him from within. if somebody used her face to destroy him.

of course scrooge would overcome it and take them down, because he's scrooge mcduck. but god. if he opened the door and saw della standing there with open arms and he flinched from her instead of running to her. if he hesitated because the last time he saw her standing in front of him like that it was an illusion that almost killed him. if Della came home and saw her uncle for the first time in nearly eleven years, expecting to be hugged and fawned over and teased and loved, and instead his first move was to shield her own children from her because magica was still out there somewhere and he couldn't risk being wrong again.
