âpolls show that 34% of americans will vote forââ
what polls? whomst is being polled? i have never once in my life been polled. what is the sample size? what is the sample demographic? is it really 34% of americans or is it 34% of americans who answer random numbers on their landline??? poll this dick
As a statistician, these are EXACTLY the questions you should ask when interpreting a poll.
In fact, you shouldnât HAVE to ask. A data scientist doing their JOB will provide that information UP FRONT. How the random sample was taken, who was polled, and what demographics were potentially left out of the poll.
If that information isnât there, donât trust it.

Oh, heâs good.
I donât know whether he deserves an Oscar or a restraining order.
from what i can tell bartending is like the adult version of making potions from random things you find in your house/backyard
horses are inherently funny because they come in so many sizes. like draft horses
this looks so fake. this horses skull is bigger than the dudes entire torso. this horses NECK is thicker than the dudes entire BODY.
and then at the opposite end of the spectrum you have shit like this shetland pony which ALSO looks fake
what the hell happened to this thing who bred this line of ponies to be so ridiculous
fun fact, while most mini horses and ponies look fat, like the shetland above, some are genuinely just scaled down versions of regular horses
you look at this and think âwow thatâs a horse i bet I could ride thatâ but youâd be wrong because this is an american shetty and itâs the size of a large dog
also fun fact, this is the worldâs smallest horse, thumbelina
and this is the largest horse ever, brooklyn supreme

once my brothers friend walked into his room and just started sniffing the air and went âoh i smell a quarterâ and then walked over to a pile of clothes and moved it and picked up a quarter and i literally canât stop thinking about it itâs been like a year and it haunts me to this day
me: there are no ârulesâ for fantasy, and thatâs the beautiful thing about it. sure there are staples of the genre, but a creator shouldnât feel bound by them. the only limits are your imagination!
fantasy game: the health potions arenât red.

A goddamn legend walks among us
Sometimes I think about the future of self driving cars and how everyone I talk to about that future is like âokay but in an emergency weâll be able to take back manual control, right?â and I usually placate them by saying, yeah, thatâs totally how itâll happen, but actually weâre already seeing the opposite. Cars with âself drivingâ features like steering and breaking that kick in and take control from the driver if the driver is about to rear end someone or is in a dangerous situation because the truth is computers can think faster and have better reflexes than us and I think about this going into the future and how if the self-driving cars are able to share their data with each other and learn from the driving experiences of every car on the road soon weâll have cars that are so massively experienced at driving and avoiding accidents and making microsecond decisions and partial degree turns of the wheels and being so damn precise that automobile accidents will be almost unheard of and thatâs when weâll develop the most wasteful hilarious extreme sport in history where a single human driver will go up against an arena of ultra smart self driving cars and just by driving around recklessly try to coral them into crashing into each other and I tell you I would watch that sport all day.
#this didnât end the way i expected
I was talking to a kid in my daughterâs class today, and she said that she thought it would be fun to write a story about the Titanic, but with supernatural creatures.
So I said, âYeah, that would great! What would the creatures do? Would they save the Titanic from sinking?â
And she gave me the most disgusted look. I have never seen a 9 year old face look so appalled.
âNo,â she said, speaking very clearly so as to never be so grossly misunderstood again, âtheyâre going to eat the passengers.â
God I hope she lets me read it.
