Apparently there’s a “kids shouldn’t be allowed in grocery stores” thing being spread on TikTok because they might scream or run around and look yeah that’s annoying but at a certain point you’ve gotta just put up with kids being a little annoying in public. Sure the kid pouring milk in the isles is the fault of a shitty parent and should be asked to leave, but a single mom with an otherwise controlled by crying toddler isn’t doing anything wrong. I think you’ll live if someone’s two year old starts screaming in their arms in isle 3. It might be annoying but that mom is probably having a worse day than you

if kids are not allowed in public, that means parent(s) that do not have an alternative child-keeping solution cannot be in public either. it means the single mom or the working parents have to figure out babysitting to do their fucking groceries or go to the park. Or not figure it out, and not do it.

and bc this most of the time falls to the mother, not allowing young kids in public is a way of keeping mothers home, is a way of controlling women. it's a feminist issue. i am not exaggerating, this is part of basic feminism knowledge -- a lot of the events organised by our local feminist and women's rights help groups included child-minding solutions, or even focused on it (eg a double-event for adult women encouraging their emancipation while their small children were being entertained and looked after on a different floor of the same building).

if you're feminist you have to tolerate children in public.

if you can't handle a baby in your vicinity every once in a while you are not punk
