idk man sometimes i like it when video game writers are allowed to plan a series of events that happen in a specific order and affect each other in turn to become an overarching narrative, and i don’t mind trusting those writers to take me through those events in the order that is emotionally effective. i don’t really care if a game forces me to go through the forest area first before i can attempt the icy area because maybe there’s things that happen in the forest area that inform later scenes in the icy area. maybe we don't need more superficial player choice open world concepts if it comes at the cost of the ability to write a story with actual significant plot events and character development in each section

like im sure this is not going to be spoiling all of vii so we are just gonna get the most boring version of Cloud with maybe some hints as to ohhhh something is wrong with this boys brain. anyways time to not do anything about that go fight a fucking Jenova bit. Here's Sephiroth he......wants to destroy the world and is obsessed with Cloud. Nothing else going on with this guy.

#arx xiv #fanfest #sorry i passed out. anyways.#idk i do like the design the world looks sick its just #tank i dont care about at all/non linear structure has the potential to make the first bit REALLY boring/crossover raids #i actually like the nier raids but thats bc the main characters are like. of xivs world. and they have their own story and pathos and stuff #like on top of everything else a full crossover is just gonna be boring bc its not gonna tell us anything new about either world

also like. and this is just me being in a Bad Place lately seeping thru. but I get the feeling they MIGHT do something w Alisaie, like let her have something to do, but I am increasingly convinced Alphinaud is never gonna be anything but Exposition Boy Firewood Jokes ever again. Just bland pleasantness until he dies

#arx xiv #fanfest #double crossover raids is REALLY disappointing #especially since it is Just Going To Be Sephiroth #not even like. an xiv equiv #its wild bc i think arcadion has been their most popular raid?#some of the raid characters are getting as much or more play than msq characters #if i wanna speculate beyond pure 'break in case of emergency'#...well its still that but maybe they planned a vii alliance raid and then the opportunity to do an evengelion crossover came thru #idkkkkkkk. christ ivalice is implemented better then this shit #and when I first did that i said out loud 'oh hello Fran from Final Fantasy XII'
