saw a tiktok of a mother taking her very tiny daughter to an art museum and she’s just walking around going “whoooa” “woooaah” to everything but then they got to a marble statue of a nude woman lying on her back and the girl points and goes “mommy🫵” and i just immediately welled up with tears and all the comments are just laughing about it and of course it’s funny but how are you not insanely moved by the way art connects everyone on earth from a centuries-old sculptor to a toddler in 2023

A venerable symbol of human love, as you've never seen it before
I’ll do me, you do you, Anthony Gerace
dropping by to say that the lines "how can you expect someone to grow old with you when you're always trying to be alone?" and "I think you've already made up your mind to be alone" fucking haunt me. :')
anon this is so funny bc i read this message and assumed it was misdirected as i have no memory of ever writing these lines and was about to ask if you meant to send this to me.... but then it occurred to me that it must have been fic i wrote at one point. thank you for remembering for me. truly we only exist in the memory of others!!
some thoughts for 2026:
dive deeper into influences/inspirations
i should be able to list the things/creators i love (any medium) if asked, like the guys saying "jacques cousteau" like five times in pierre barouh's "le pollen"
if i cannot recall names/titles i have not been talking enough about them
it's okay to know/read/experience less quantitatively if i invest more in the things i do experience and love
i am not obligated to complete the work but neither am i free to desist from it, i.e. write/share more about the things that i do love
develop my own thoughts/framework without depending on those of others
… but do not close yourself off (and in fact, remain voraciously curious) from the thoughts of others
it is important to reflect and write about both thoughts you agree with and thoughts you vehemently disagree with
abandon pretentions of "cool" and aim for something individual
this is not a demand to valorize "authenticity," but rather (like everything else) an invitation to be more vocal about what i like and why
friends should be able to identify when something feels like me, even when it is not something I have talked about before
we should be associated with the things we love!!
stop putting off things for later.
later is not a real date
later will never come
it is not that hard to watch a fucking movie (or read a book/manga or listen to an album, etc.). you are putting off watching the fucking movie bc you feel like you need to have grand thoughts about every movie you see. but if you just watch more movies then you will have more grand thoughts about movies as a whole. you will not feel like any one movie is important to your development and it will not feel like it has been a waste just bc you don't have thoughts on a specific movie. instead you will feel grateful for the experience and that you can move on to the next one.
cultivation is a practice, not a personality
what i read/watch is not an identity. how i react to it, what i say about it, to whom i say it, and how i share it with friends/strangers, is the identity.
when you find something you love, tell the creator (if possible). interact with the creators you like. you are not a museum. you are not just a collection of things you like. cultivation is not about moodboarding your favorite things but about allowing it to change you as a person and how it inspires you to interact with the world.
the world is other people, not just the works they create.
