Part 1/
WARNING THIS IS ABOUT TO GET DEPRESSING
It’s been a while since I made an life update on here. And for now, I might use this as my online journal.
My mom passed away unexpectedly less than a month ago.
At first, I truly, whole heartedly thought she was going to be fine. That there was nothing that we could not work or surpass.
When she complained about a headache, I didn’t think it was bad initially. Then a minute later I thought she was having a migraine, so I wanted to give her Tylenol and have her lye down. But she didn’t want that so we compromised and got her an ice pack for her head.
She still looked terrible as the minutes passed by, so I got my blood pressure machine and started to take her pressure.
I never got to find out what her number was.
While waiting for the numbers, my mom started to feel nauseous and through up in the dinning room. She then went to the bathroom. I immediately followed her asking her if she need paper towels, water or anything.
After I left her and was going to start cleaning the throw up. But my mom in her typical, amazing and selfless way came out and told me to not worry about the throw up to leave it alone and that she will clean it up later.
When I didn’t listen and was still cleaning it, my mom helped me cleaned it. She unfortunately got sick again and threw up on the kitchen sink before going back to my bathroom.
At this moment I thought she had a stomach flu. Which is not uncommon, my mom had food poisoning just 2 months previously. So I left her alone in the bathroom as she threw up. I kept checking in, but didn’t want to bother her. 15 minutes later I went to check on her and I see her leaving her head against the wall of my shower glass door. She looked like she was taking a breather.
I decide to leave her alone and come back in 10 minutes. When I do she’s still in the same position, but I decided I want to start cleaning around my bathroom. I start picking up the paper towels and I decided I was also going to help clean her up. Because she had some throw up on her hands and mouth.
But as I clean her hands I had this chilling feeling. My mom is not responding or moving as I clean her hands or her face. She’s still breathing and sounds like she’s a sleep. But I start seeing foam forming on her mouth.
I start panicking and freaking out. My first thought was she fainted and she wants to throw up but she’s now choking. I pick her up and put her body over the toilet while I try to call her name.
Once I realize this is futile, I go and get my step dad, and tell him there’s something wrong with my mom. We then move my mom from the bathroom to the living room and call emergency number.
While on the phone with them, they have me to cpr. The fire department/ ambulance shows up 10 minutes later. They see her and tell me she probably had a stroke and will take her to the hospital.
When they said she had a stroke, I thought, ok, she’s going to be fine. People don’t die from strokes, it might be a long recovery for her, but she’s going to be ok. Because my mom is incredibly healthy, had no medical problems, exercise daily and she’s just so strong that she came back from anything.
My step dad went to the hospital following the ambulance and I stayed cleaning and making sure my dog was going to be fine.
30 minutes later I get a text from him saying the doctor says I need to see my mom. That it’s not looking good. Even when my step dad picks me up and is crying. I refused to believe that she couldn’t come back. That there was no other options or alternatives for her. Because my mom is super woman. She can get through anything.
When I finally make it to the hospital and talk to a doctor I find out that my mom’s stroke was massive and turn into a giant bleed. The most positive outcome was that if she wakes up her quality of life after was going to be in a nursing home with feed tubes, breathing tubes, and no recognition of anyone, she would be brain damage. She would need to be hooked up to life support 24/7 to keep her body working.
That’s not my mom. That’s not who she is. She’s amazing and strong. She’s not a lifeless body who goes through the motions but has no perception.
Though my family was not ready to accept it at that moment and was hoping for a miracle. I was starting to get a sense that my mom was not coming home with me.

Fuck it
If you make a donation of at least $25 USD to an abortion fund (preferably not planned parenthood) and send me a screenshot as proof, I’ll draw your OC in color on a solid colored background.
If you’re not sure where to send your money, here’s a list. Ive recently donated to the Lilith Fund, a group in TX that centers its resources on people of color and those most impacted by barriers to abortion access.

[Image: Tweet by Emily Mullin (@EmilyLMullin) and tweet by Isobelle Winter (@IsobelleWinter), both about the dangers of Facebook’s new preventative health screening tool. Images have been modified for visual ease but information has not been changed.]
Something to know about Facebook’s new “screening tool,” and advice/info that can most certainly be used outside of this specific situation.
For spoonies, the biggest deal is how this data, if leaked, could affect you in professional and insurance spheres.
Here’s Emily’s full thread, which discusses the details of the tool, and here’s Isobelle’s full thread, which extrapolates on specific dangers.
In the end? It’s another data grab. Data is worth money; don’t give yours away, especially not to Facebook.
PLEASE SIGNAL BOOST this shit is scary.

The Addams Family renting out rooms in their huge mansion cheaply to broke college students.
The students digging it because the craziness and the bugs are pretty much the same as any other dorm house. Also, Morticia and Gomez treat them all like visiting cousins, not like tenants to abuse and exploit.
One of the tenants is a creative writing major and Gomez and Morticia house them up in the tower because of the quiet and the inspiring view
They’re supposed to be working on a typical coming-of-age story but after living with the Addams for just a week the project is becoming a horror-Gothic-romance
They go to their room after classes one day and find Thing correcting the grammar errors in the manuscript with a red pen
and yeah, the students pay roughly market value for their rooms, but that doesn’t stop gomez from shouting “capital idea!” and handing them wads of cash when they tell him about their weekend plans or what they’re researching, so they basically end up living there for free
In the same vein, half the them have to turn into exceptional fencers, because Gomez just doesn’t give a shit, and if he sees you in the library, its fucking Sword Fighting Time.
Fester and Pugsley find out one of the college students is trying to get into chemistry and woo boy, there has never been a faster study of how to counter various acidic chemical reactions due to “water” balloons in campus history.
Morticia and Grammy are keeping the horticulturalists on their toes with their Black Tulip/Rose hybrids, which can flick their barbs a foot away from their stem system. But it’s fine, one of the kids has managed to breed Aloe with the anti venom.
Lurch makes sandwiches for everyone who’s too much of a coward for Grammy’s cooking. Any music major will find him looming over them, utterly stone faced as they practise until they finish, when he’ll smile, and slowly applaud.
And the spookiest thing of all
Wednesday and Thing will find your thesis. They will critique it in every way imaginable.
There is no escape.
I especially love the idea of Gomez spotting a student in the library, throwing a sword at a startled student, shouting, “En garde!” and lunging at him/her with a sword of his own.
Student (later in life), when asked how she jumps from quietly doing research to handling a sudden influx of ER cases so quickly and easily, says, “When you have to snap out of deep concentration on biochem to fight for your life then get back to biochem without losing your train of thought…you learn or you die.”
This has made me laugh so hard-
And you know how chatty Gomez is when he fights, he’d probably help more students work through creative blocks via swordplay than any education counselor in a stuffy little office.
Gomez Addams as the embodiment of the Rubber Duck Method for struggling students via surprise swordplay is directly on brand.
And I firmly believe that long-term residents who finish their degrees suddenly, mysteriously, find that their student loans have been paid off. The family attends every single graduation ceremony and claps and cheers for “their” students as boisterously as any parent. They make a particular point of doing so for the ones who have no other family in attendance.
do u ever want something so bad that you can’t even write wish-fulfillment about it u just. cry. instead.
I fucking CRY everytime I read these. Out of the good feels.
Umm they’re making fanfics canon and I have mixed feelings about this. By the way.... AO3 was right there??

some very important info re: paid accounts~
I am not a lawyer, but I can decently interpret legalese and, being as I also suffer from tl;dr syndrome and assume others may as well, I took one for the team and went through the updated TOS for the post+ accounts and highlighted (what I understand to be) the most pertinent information, which ultimately comes down to this:
You cannot monetize copyrighted works (aka charge and earn money from fanfic, fanworks, etc) and if you do decide to put your fanworks behind a paywall via Tumblr, when you are inevitably sued, Tumblr will not protect you and will not defend you and you alone, personally, will be responsible for whatever monetary damages said lawsuit results in.
If anyone is a lawyer and knows I've gotten any of this wrong, please do not hesitate to correct me/this post.
Screenshots taken from Tumblr's TOS (updated 7-21-21), Stripe's Account Agreement, and the post+ FAQs.
1. Your paid account will not be hosted by tumblr; it is routed through a 3rd party.
2. By signing up for a paid account, you're entering into an agreement with Stripe, so in addition to Tumblr's TOS, you are also bound to Stripe's TOS.
3. Stripe, like Tumblr, will not defend you or protect you against any lawsuits.
4. Furthermore, you may end up owing Stripe money (indemnify = compensate)
5. Tumblr's TOS specifically states that you can't put any content on your post+ account that violates any laws, including laws that protect intellectual property rights of others. This is super important, because Tumblr's post+ FAQ also states that you can post anything that you would regularly post on tumblr, which I'm sure many will take to mean that gifsets, fanworks, etc are fair game, since all of that stuff can be posted on tumblr now. However, the difference is, you're not making money from the fanworks you're posting or reblogging now. Once money enters the equation, the game changes.
Tumblr is making it seem like any and all content goes for post+ accounts, knowing 90% of this site is fanworks. This is not true and you'll be opening yourself up for lawsuits if you charge for fanworks.
6. Tumblr further disclaims any and all liability in any legal issues.
tl;dr: Please do not make a post+ account, bc you will be opening yourself to lawsuits and if that happens, Tumblr's response will be not our problem, you agreed to all the terms which said you couldn't do that, sorry not sorry. Please protect yourself.
This post is a public service.
READ THIS CAREFULLY AND REBLOG!
You broke it down right. Great job.
Excellent summary of why it just isn’t worth signing up for a tumblr+ account. Reblogging.
