you and your sibling(s)
genuinely and regularly could have killed or seriously injured each other
rough housed often but it wasn't actually dangerous
it was RARE but it was SERIOUS
never engaged in physical violence
i don't have siblings, show results
pick an answer even if it's only true in one direction (ie your sibling roughed you up but you didn't reciprocate, or vice versa)
I argued with my parents; I kept saying, “It’s my body not yours!” And they said, “No, it’s not your body.” I wanted so much for this body to be mine, not an extension of my parents or their bodies. They didn’t understand. I began to want to eat my brother and my father, I wanted to eat their knees.

“You’ve apparently been running Petscop nonstop for 553758221 seconds, or 153822 hours. That looks dubious to me. What do you think?”
all the girls are trying to convince themselves really hard that jackie would have wanted them to eat her and i'm honestly not sure about that but what i do know jackie would have absolutely loved is shauna being so hung up on her. i feel like if you told the alive jackie that shauna will spend two months out in the cold talking to her corpse she would have blushed

This tweet has prevented more eating disorders than any public health campaign ever has
i dont get the people in the notes to this saying its too mean because from experience when you're in the depth of an eating disorder and brag to everyone about how little you eat you need to get a reality check not to be babied.....participating in diet culture IS laughable stay mad
I really hate how the red dead fandom treats that outburst of anger Charles has at the bison poachers. like it's a joke and it's funny how angry he got and wow he's craazzyy. the poachers say they were hired to make it look like Indians were killing the bison, presumably to paint them as barbaric and deserving of the way white men treat them. they are racist to Charles when he speaks to them. like knowing just a little bit about history will let you know that killing the bison was in order to starve out tribes who depended on them. this isn't rocket science. Charles anger in that scene is very beautiful and poignant and runs very deep. it's not just about him, it's about his culture he's had stripped from him and his people that he has very little connection to because of people like the poachers. but no he's just an angry black man what am I saying...
Mixed native man here popping in for my two cents on this entire scene and Charles' anger: the connection between indigenous people and our land, and what we depend on for life is sacred. That's not a joke. It's not ~mystic Indian~ bullshit. These connections are still honored and our sense of responsibility and stewardship of land is very much still a central component of indigenous culture and identity. Equally as important is connection to community and tribe.
Charles' mother was killed and his tribe likely destroyed when they fled. He doesnt know the name of his people or the language they spoke, more than likely. The cutting of tribal and community ties is a form of genocide against indigenous peoples that is still being carried out today. It is traumatic, then and now. When he speaks about his people having a respect for the bison and the reverence in his voice, that's one of the few things he retains from his mother and his people.
So he rides up to see the center of all life and existence slaughtered carelessly and with malice. He sees the slaughter of his people and the murder of his mother.
His anger is an echo. It's an echo of the anger Eagle Flies and the other young men of the Wapiti tribe carry within themselves. It's the same anger I carry within myself since the forced removal of my people from our ancestral land in the 1830s.
It is also grief of the most painful sort. So he gives in to that anger and grief and sense of loss. Of being lost and without a people or home to belong to. It's a human reaction. It's my first reaction every time playing that mission, even though my people are not Plains people. It's not the unhinged, it's not funny. Its painful.
I can only speak for myself but there have been times I wish I could let my anger out on those responsible for what has happened to not only my tribes but all indigenous people of this country. We walk a graveyard. We see stolen land. We see ghosts. That is what Charles sees and he is forced into silence.
And to see fans, for any reason at all, try and reduce this important scene that attempts to, g-d forbid, educate players on an ongoing campaign of ethnic and cultural genocide to a joke is shameful. To reduce Charles' feelings on this to a stereotype is unsurprising.
People only want sage, wise and magical Indians. They dont want us angry, gnashing our teeth and howling. They dont want us mourning. It ruins the pretty picture they've painted. And fans attempting to reduce this scene to a joke to willfully ignore a vital part of who Charles is and why he interacts with the world in the way he does: always on the edge, half phantom himself - is only wider symptom of how indigenous people are viewed by the rest of the world.
Grenfell hooked mats, 1920s-40s (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9)
The quiet months of February and March were known as the “matting season” along the rugged coast of northern Newfoundland and Labrador. It was a time of respite from the fishing season. Generations old by the time the Grenfell Mission began, the roots of mat hooking lay with the founding English and Scottish settlers. The women all hooked, most from their earliest childhood. […]
In 1928, the Industrial Supervisor M.A. Pressley-Smith sent out a plea through the mission’s quarterly publication, Among the Deep Sea Fishers, “Save Your Old Silk Stockings! When your stockings run let them run to Labrador! We need silk stockings and underwear in Unlimited Quantities! Please send your silk stockings and underwear no matter how old or worn! We need such silk and artificial silk for the making of hooked rugs of a beautiful type!” Silk stockings when dyed to beautiful soft hues, helped propel the mat industry into its peak production years of 1926 to the early 1930s.
