Do you ever sit and wonder why?
Why did Nie HuaiSang go to all the effort of resurrecting Wei WuXian?
I mean, there were other ways of extracting revenge without dirtying his own hands. The entire plot implies that HuaiSang is incredibly observant and cunning, and secretly intelligent. Consistently in the right place at the right time, the entire plan plotted to perfection.
So he had to know, that even if he barely hinted. If he said just the right words. If he could get the vague implication that WWX was in fact framed to settle in Lan WangJi's head, he would absolutely hunt down the evidence. Would throw it all in Meng Yao's face, expose him and kill him for what he did. Would slaughter him on the spot for using WWX like he did.
He had to know that if he went to Jiang Cheng, told him about what he knew that even if Jiang Cheng threw him out, called him a liar, tossed him to the side. That, well, Jiang Cheng would still investigate. Wouldn't be able to settle until he knew the truth - after all, this is the man who kept his brothers dizi. And when Jiang Cheng gathered all the evidence and exposed His Excellency, I expect his death would have been far more painful than the death he would received at Lan WangJi's hands. Even without the knowledge of his Golden Core, this man still used his brother - is the reason Jiang Cheng lost the rest of his family.
Even if Nie HuaiSang wasn't sure about WWX just the mention of his name would be enough to get either of those to involved - whether it was fact or fiction or simply made up so that Nie MingJue would be avenged, HuaiSang prove he is willing to say or do whatever to get his desired end result.
He could have gone to Lan Zichen about their brother. Could have told him what he knew, and would have never been turned away. It would have hurt him, but he would have investigated. And when it came to light that his Sworn Brother had in fact killed their other Sworn Brother. When it was revealed all that Meng Yao had done? Maybe he wouldn't kill him, himself. But Zidian would have hit out before anyone could say anything anyway. He would have died all the same.
Why bring back Wei WuXian. His soul had never been found. His body had never been found. Had Nie HuaiSang figured out that his high school best friend had in fact been used. Had he found out that not only had Meng Yao killed his sect leader and brother, but he had used and effectively killed Wei WuXian as well?
Did he bring back Wei WuXian because of that? Because what better revenge than to have your bait, the person you set up, stood in front of you calling you out for your crimes?
Did he bring him back because he wanted to give his friend the second chance at life he couldn't give his brother?
Did he not know and simply wanted to bring back the most evil person he could think of to extract his revenge?
Or was it because he trusted Wei WuXian more than anyone to solve the case? After all, the Wei WuXian he knew at his time in the cloud recesses never could keep his nose out of anyones business.
Was it because he was bored and bringing back the Yiling Patriach would make it all a lot more interesting?
Like do you ever sit and think about Nie HuaiSang, and wonder what was the deciding factor in bringing back Wei WuXian? Why didn't he chose any other method of extracting his revenge?
