So I was watching the season 3 character pvs and thinking about what Liu Xiao means by miracle when I thought of this line said by Qiao Ling. As far as I can tell, this is the only time the term miracle came up? Does this mean anything??

I was watching philip glass’ opera Akhenaton and there’s this line from one of the ancient burial poems that I really love. Other than being just a really beautiful sentiment, it also reminded me of the Bartimaeus sequence, esp the Bart/Ptolemy relationship. It’s this:

“call upon my name unto eternity, and it shall never fail.”

Love how tears started streaming down my face after one minute. Gotta say, that was a new record for how fast malevolent has made me cry. Also love how much progress John and Arthur have made. The divorce lasted like two minutes.

I alreadly guessed that Arthur would forgive John, but what do you mean you weren't there for each other and you shouldn't have to go through it alone?? And what do you mean Arthur's body feels like home?

There were so many things in this episode that made me think I was reading a fic rather than the actual podcast?? Like, they would have been happy to stay like that?? Excuse me?? I've literally read a fic that has John sometimes killing the Arthurs immediately and sometimes pretending to save them. Guess this is canon now oh my god.

Lastly, not making out of this alive??? Is this Harlan foreshadowing the ending??? Makes sense, but also, please don't??? They've been through so much, just let them have their farm or private investigating firm or whatever as long as it's a happy ending😭

I really love this! Apologies for the slow reply! I wanted to think more about this and let the words sit for a bit.

The thing with musicals is that the tempo and style of different parts of the song can change to match the lyrics and the emotions they're trying to convey, and the way you write each section really sums up different aspects of Bartimaeus's character well!

Here is a bit of my interpretation of the lyrics of how it might fit into a song. Don't know if you meant for it to be that way, but here it goes:

To start off, Bartimaeus tries to scare the summoner in his usual blustering fashion. I think it'll be fun for the voice to be exaggerated and booming, and the music more dramatic. Aside from singing the lines, a few lines can be read out instead of sung to make it more monologue-like.

Next, elements of ancient music could be added, and the tone mysterious as Bartimaeus delves into his accomplishments from his thousands of years of history.

To me, the third stanza sounds like Bartimaeus stretching the truth to sound cooler in his classic way, so this part could possibly take on a more light-hearted doing-a-magic-trick-like tone to demonstrate his witty side.

Now, the last bit sounds sarcastic and a bit cynical to me, representing how tired of humans and servitude Bartimaeus is, and presenting it in the form of an accapella makes a lot of sense, as the human voice conveys raw emotion well. The music should sound melancholic to represent his exhaustion and his inability to reject the summons.

When going over the lines, I can't help but think how well the song would work as an animatic as well.

Okay, that's about it. Some of my ideas of how the song might look. So excited to hear more!

I just finished the last half of the juno steel finale and what the f was that ending.

Like, I know rationally it is a good ending and has a good message: you become complete and whole and grow as a person by facing your problems and dealing with your trauma alone to seek closure. On the way, the last stop would be a trip to visit every person you've met on the way and have meaningful interaction. Growing alone doesn't mean that any of your friends and family and loved ones are not as involved or important in your life, but that every conversation will eventually bring you to where you are today.

Whatever. But whyyyyyy didn't nureyev at least have one line??? I

kind of privately called it that there wouldn't be a skipping off into the sunset hand in hand moment. But I did NOT expect this. At all. Yes, yes, I get that they did the right thing, and ended the story in a way that made the most sense and in the way that will stick in people's minds most, but I just really wanted to hear them interact just one last time... And it was basically a happy ending, what am I even complaining about? A happy ending is in itself, someone to celebrate. But, just whyyyyyy!

In short, it has been one hell of a ride. The penumbra podcast was there for me during a lot of hard times and I was crying tears of joy throughout the finale. Really excited to hear what's next!

Alright, I haven't finished the episode yet, but I haaaaave to talk about this.

I got to the part where the count down thing is ticking to just one minute left, and what does Juno say?? “Just hold me, Nureyev.” Now in which other tragic piece of media have we heard something similar before? The last episode of season five of Merlin, which ended with Arthur dying in Merlin's arms, the dying request “just hold me” not yet gone stale in the air. Which I am very much still not over yet. It was probably not intentional and was a total coincidence, but REALLY??? The whole time I was screaming internally omg they are. not. dying. Not again with this finally saying the what they truly feel but death is approaching rapidly thing. Guess I have a certain taste in the media I consume. Seriously, this episode has already been such a cardio workout. Don't even get me started on the fact that Nureyev chose Slip every single freaking time until Slip slapped some sense into him. Also, the second tune that played when Slip was communicating through that brain wave machine, sounded so nostalgic. If I weren't on the train listening to this, I would be bawling my eyeballs out.

I know Jupeter are probably going to be saved last minute by something? The Ruby probably? But still, goddammit I was so scared. Still am.
