A Familiar Face || Yuri & Changmin
From the moment Changmin walked back into a classroom, it seemed as his return to graduate school was going to be filled with nothing but grading, assignments, and reading with barely anytime to surface for anything remotely social. After at least five missed meetings, Changmin thought he might have to just give up on the Photography club. But when Thursday came around Changmin was shocked to realize he had some time to spare. He had a meeting with his thesis adviser at two, but other than that he was free for the rest of the day.
Once the meeting was over he made his way to the classroom where the club would be meeting. There was someone already calling roll by the time he made it into the room, so he quietly sat down in the back instead of looking for a seat closer to the front like he usually would. He was a little surprised by how many people there were. A pretty good turn out, he thought as he looked around at the other students who had gathered in the room.
"Shim Changmin." His head snapped back to the front at the sound of a familiar voice saying his name. "Here," he said, raising his hand slightly so Yuri wouldn’t have to look around that much to find him. He was sure his smile was verging on sheepish. It had been too long since they had spoken. Maybe today would be a chance to fix that.
It was the same kind of deal every Thursday: she goes through roll call, mark the members present or absent, and announce the theme of the day before everyone else scatters off to take photos. Which was exactly what she was expecting on a dull day like so. She began at the top of the list, calling out the names in the most enthusiastic voice she could summon. But of course, it still sounded relatively monotoned. She wasn’t trying to exude a nonchalant attitude- she is genuinely passionate about photography- but the process of starting the club meeting had been such a routined task that there was no way else to make it more interesting. And she knows, or she hopes, that the members have the same thoughts in mind.
So there she was, half way down the list before she spot a familiar name. She hasn’t seen him for a while, heck he hasn’t responded to her texts for the past weeks. Though, from personal connections, she had an idea why he isn’t around lately. Hesitating about calling him out, she was expecting silence after she had decided to finally pronounce his name. But she suddenly heard a voice, and her head snapped up. He was sitting way back, to a point where she can barely see his face clearly. Nonetheless, she could recognize him by his hands. A smile emerged as she returned the favor to her ‘long lost’ friend, and went back to doing roll call. This time with much more joy in her voice.
When she was done, she quickly pointed to the words written on the board and left the explaining to the president. Walking slowly to the back of the room, she seated her self next to the tall male. “Fancy to see you here.”she teased, sending him a sly face to begin with. She had the intentions of catching up with him, but jokes came first.
I'm really not drunk // Kangjoon & Yuri
She tried to concentrate on the road ahead, putting in every last bit of energy to regain her conscious, but everything was still a blur. She had no idea where she was going or why she was even walking in the first place. All she knows is that she wants to get home, and without any help from others.
However, from everyone else's perspective, this girl definitely looks like she needs a hand. It was a rough night, or at least for miss Yuri that normally has a responsible mind to not get drunk. Drink after drink was poured and all she was left with was failed denials. "No, I can't." she would say, but there was no sympathy given whatsoever. "I have to drive home." she would try again, but no one can see her car in sight. So in the end, all her efforts failed and she was left with an overly intoxicated mind. Of course, being the headstrong that she is, she denied all offered rides and attempted on getting a taxi her self. But even getting out of the club was a long walk for the girl, let alone the streets.
So there she was, swaying from side to side as she thinks (or is imagining) she is walking in a straight line, accidentally bumped into a built guy that seemed to be less friendly than the average man. Though, his eyes changed from fierce to dodgy, something Yuri should really have noticed but she didn't. "Hey, where are you heading, pretty lady?" the guy asked, hands holding on to Yuri's arms. She wanted to get away, but both her physical and mental state didn't allow her. "Home." she said, her voice soften due to the alcohol, another mistake on her part. "Why don't you go home with me then?" the guy answered, as he was pulling her away with his friends. At this point Yuri was too tired to fight, so she could only follow, with the slightest conscious mind to blurt out a soft no. Which, as it seems like, only turned the guys on even more.
A Dark Night // Hojung & Yuri
It was one of those nights, for Yuri, that she just wanted time to herself. The quiet campus surrounding her presence, leaving that one strand of thought lingering in her mind. She didn't know what content it was, until she settled down and really focus on that last remaining image in her head. Her attempt at such meditation, one could say, was almost psychotic- she felt as if only someone emotionally challenged would have the slightest intention to be by himself, and soaked in one's own mind. Though, Yuri would be the first to admit, she was somewhere on the verge of instability.
Kicking the grass by her feet, she let the green plant graze over the patches of bare skin shown by her sandals. A tickling sensation, nevertheless, but she enjoyed it. There wasn't anyone around but her to emerse in those small joys that one would never thought to experience. With the dark sky above her head, she felt the spacious quad almost terrifying- yet she had no intentions of leaving. As she walked to, not precisely, the center of the large field, she planted her self down in hopes to find some furthur peace. She extended her arms to the back, supporting her weight as she tilted her head backwards. A warm breeze blew past her hair, but she didn't flinch. Nothing was a bother to her at this point.
She thought about a lot, a bit too much she would say. From the family pressures to her inability (or so she thinks) to maintain a healthy social life. It wasn't that she despised her friends, no, none of the sort. But rather challenged, at times, by her own personality to create a happy atmosphere for people around her. It was much in her own mind, as others have not told her she was boring to be around, and much of an insecurity rather than fact. Though, what is feared will not go away so easily. To add on, was another grain of rice in a pile of two- that constant responsibility to become the perfect daughter. It was a ploy, almost every single time, for her father to show off the girl in front of relatives and business partners. Becaue in his mind, Yuri was never good enough. Of course, she didn't care much, as it came from a father that wasn't there for half of her life. But regardless, family was still important.
And for a good hour, she just sat there, hoping someone would come along to relieve her stress. But hoping was just another flaw of hers, and something she wasn't very good at.
Friendship Project | Jiwon & Yuri
"But it’s so fun." Jiwon said straightforwardly. "I think those are the biggest perks of having a credit card. You see something, you swipe, you bag it, you go. I mean seriously, a world without credit cards is like a world without water. As worldly as that sounds, but I think us girls who came from an influential background wouldn’t beg to differ. Jiwon just nodded for the rest of the time, listening to Yuri speak of her family. Of course, not every family had it all. Yuri proved to be no exception. "Yeah, I know how you feel. Most elite families usually have sob stories behind them, people just fail to see it because they think we have the best of the world." She sighed and added, "We do, I suppose, but we also have the shittiest background stories, don’t you think?" Tensing up as she fiddled with the spiral of her notebook, she hesitated whether she should share something about her family too. Not that there was much to share, rather the fact that if she shared something, Yuri might feel more connected. However, she found herself saying nothing but, "I guess my family’s okay. I’m an only child and we’re all close so I’ve got no complains in that department. None of that step mother fiasco, sad to say."
"Same here!" Jiwon almost gasped, totally agreeing with the words that were coming out of Yuri’s mouth. "But then again, I wouldn’t want to lose to just anyone either so I guess a good fight would be interesting." Laughing at her bluntness a bit, she nodded and felt a rush of joy course through her. By now, Yuri was definitely more comfortable, less robotic than she was moments ago. "Yeah, this is like our friendship project or something. Getting to know you, getting to know me kind of thing; I disliked the idea to be honest but now that I’m talking to you, it’s actually getting more fun. I mean, I don’t even remember what we’re supposed to talk about anymore!"
Yuri laughed at the other's words, covering her mouth for manners but also to stop the sound from traveling too far. After all, they were still in a library setting. "Oh definetly, it's a great priviledge we get to utilize whenever we want. I mean, which girl would not enjoy the ability to pick up any handbag in store or have a dress tailored for her own size. We certainly live life a bit too luxurious but that doesn't mean we don't pay for it." The playful tone within her comment made it sound almost like a joke. which was nothing of the sort. The crown does not come without a price, and Jiwon had it spot on. "Don't judge a book by its cover is basically the perfect phrase for people like us, although it seems more like it was meant towards us. I wouldn't say my background is something people should pity me for, no, it's simply a factual part of my life. But because we have such a glamorous living that people forget we're humans as well." she said, her voice much more serious than the previous. It was something she wanted others to recognize, that just because they don't have to work as hard to achieve a comfortable living, doesn't mean they aren't living. She knew the girl would understand it more than anyone else, which made it more than easy to make such remarks. Yuri smiled at Jiwon's story, wondering if there was more to it but hesitated to question. She didn't want to push too hard. "That's good. The less drama there is the better right?"
She let out a small chuckle, nodding in agreement with the other's comment. Though peacemaker would be a better fit for Yuri, she would never go down without a good fight either. "True. I'm not a big fan of losing either, but I'd try to win with much more class than the average hair pulling and shirt ripping." She felt much more relieved knowing she and Jiwon had much in common. It was soothing, nevertheless, to find a partner that one can truly converse with. An upside, definetly, to the boring project. "Me too. But I mean, I'm pretty sure we're smart enough to figure the paper out one way or another." she replied, laughing a bit at her own ego. Though she did meant it in a playful way. "I'm really glad you suggested this talk. I didn't think I'd be able to open up until much later, but here we are."

( / miss jung is obviously a big fat idiot for overexerting herself and carelessly making plans that deterred her health, she didn’t want anyone to know but was an idiot for not calling out help at the same time ; jess wasn’t the one to turn to people right away but here she was, with kwon yuri and stuck with her for the meantime, as well as being struck with a high-fever and nausea— someone obviously forgot to take their medicine this morning, check! that was miss jung, she didn’t take her medicine awhile back and this also contributed to her morbid state ; her best friend woke her up and it’s time for another sarcastic, saitrical remark ) what the hell am i doing in here again? ( / the brunette crossed her arms and sighed exasperatedly, not hesitating to show an eerie face to her best friend upon the thought of being treated like a child ) why am i being treated like a child who’s desperately in the need of her mommy when i am a twenty year old with a job and proper education? ( / quirks an eyebrow, shaking her head at the disapproval but truth to be told, deep down— jess was blessed and lucky to have someone like yuri right now, knowing that there would only be so few people in this world to take care of her ) fine.. i’ll go along with it. i’m just glad you’re not going to feed me too. ( / rolls her eyes, taking the spoon in her grasp and began to eat the chicken soup )
You are here because I know your physical conditions better than yourself. (/ normally that would be an overstatement, but with the incident being not the first, it has now become an understatement. yuri wasn’t intending to make her best friend feel bad, but rather putting the issue in a darker light so the girl would choose much wiser decisions next time. well, at least she hopes her words can have such effect. raising an eyebrow at the other’s comment, she indicated her further judgments upon the girl. ) No, Jung Jessica. You are simply a child living the life of an adult. (/ she shoved the bowl closer to the girl, wanting her to take it. ) Now eat your soup. (/ and as soon as the other took it in hand, she rested her palms on her lap, smiling at the scene. ) Good girl. (/ it was an intentional tease, obviously, at her friend that despised being treated as a kid. but yuri thought it was well deserved; after all, she was genuinely worried to death when she had to be a human ambulance. but of course, those worries did not lessen with the girl sitting upright in front of her. ) How are you feeling though? Still lightheaded? (/ though their relationship is almost abusive, and somewhat funny in some eyes, jessica was still someone she honestly cared about. and it didn’t matter how many harsh words we’re exchanged in the past. ) But seriously, what is so important that you almost died in the meeting room? (/ and so the mother side of her goes again. )

coffee is always a good idea // mark & yuri
"It was very difficult. I loved the sport but the pressure from my dad was harder. Always telling me to go practice and such. I wanted to quit but in the end I realized that I couldn’t because I loved it that much." He didn’t stay for his dad. The male continued playing the sport for the love of the game. He really didn’t care whether or not if he was great or bad at the sport. As long as he enjoyed what he was doing, that was all that really mattered to him.
"Tripods? I guess I really need to get one of those then." Mark shrugged his shoulders and laughed along. "It seems as if your life is more packed up than mine. Dealing with so many things. I don’t know how you do it. I go from school to baseball and then to dance and yet I’m practically all wiped out afterwards." He kind of admired her for her dedication and hard work. Mark thought he had it super hard but he guessed wrong. "Having a lot of acquaintances can also be quite a good thing too you know. Networking here and there. It can be beneficial but it may also have its bad points." However, it seemed as if she enjoyed all the clubs and sports she did. "I get what you mean. I really hope you can find some free time to yourself. I’m so sorry for intruding on you like this too actually." He started to feel slightly guilty. Now that Mark thought about it, he realized that this was kind of her free time that he thought see needed. Hearing how busy she was, he felt slightly bad for cutting into her alone time. "Do you have any other plans besides being here at the coffee shop?" Mark stared out the window and noticed the rain beginning to lighten up.
She nodded as he continued his story, finding it relatable to her own life. "Passion can only go so far. You must have a lot of dedication for the sport to have become this skilled." Flashing a smile at the male, she took a sip of her coffee before speaking up once again. "Family pressures are never easy to deal with, but I'm glad you overcomed it. Not much people are as strong as you." She meant it directly, knowing that she her self wasn't someone that could've lived up to the expectations of her own father. Though, she really wasn't trying to, simply playing along for the convinience of her own life.
Suddenly remembering an incident, she searched through her bag before pulling out a name card for the boy. "If you ever need any photography equipment, this is the place to go." she said, as she placed the piece of paper infront of him. "They have exquisite equipment at a low price and give discounts to students, so a win-win for us." It's not everyday she finds another that shares the same type of interests as her, or at least, interested in the same hobbies. Plus with the given status of both being part of the same club, she was more than willing to share. Letting out a slight chuckle at the other's comment, she shifted her weight to the right side in hopes to relax her posture. "I mean, I suppose having connections is not a bad thing when it came to the advantage of having more opportunities. But that's only if you keep in good contact with all your friends, which, let's be real, isn't going to go very well after we all graduate." It was her upmost honesty on the topic that led her to say such words- with the constant coming and going of people around her, it wasn't a surprise that the girl had a much more realistic view towards 'friendship'. It wasn't that she didn't believe in true friends, but rather that long term commitment people made when they were young just seems to never fulfill its promise. "Oh, no, you're no intruding at all." she denied, almost immediantely. She didn't want the other to feel bad about accompanying her. "Honestly, I was feeling quite lonely on the occasion and am really glad you came to talk to me. I feel like I'm taking up your time actually." She finds her self socially awkward on many occasions, being that her tendencies to become too timid with less known acquaintances were out of hand sometimes. Nevertheless, she put on a smile for that fake confidence she seems to always exude. "No, not today. I made my life sound much more busier than it is, which is not what it is at all. My free time is not as limited, so when I do get the opportunity, I try to spend it with my self. And that doesn't necessarily work out all the time." she replied, taking the cup infront of her in hand. "How about you? Is this your only plan today as well?"

Put Your Hands up in the Air // Yuri and Yukie //
Being passed out, Yukie naturally did not remember the trip to the hospital either. She did wake up once while they were still in the ambulance vehicle but the pain was too much and she passed out again. It was a strange state, that she was in. When she opened her eyes, she saw that she was sitting on a meadow. It was summer and the meadow was huge. The grass was yellowish and green, a pleasant-to-eye mixture of colours that indicated midsummer and the dried up grass.
There were flowers everywhere; yellow and red were prevalent, but she saw some purple and orange ones as well. The sky was pristine, clear from any cloud, and light blue. It was the kind of blue Yukie could stare at for hours and not get bored. She was wearing her favourite summer dress; a knee long, lolita-like dress, yellow with flowery embroideries; she matched the nature around her and it amused her. Yukie wore a hat, a large straw hat and her long, dark hair was dancing to the melody of the wind.
These kind of things should make her happy. They usually do. But, this time Yukie was sad. She could not explain why but this sadness was heavy and real. As she sat on the meadow, tears strolled down her cheeks. Yet, she did not hear herself cry; she heard another person. It seemed to be coming from the sky. How odd, she thought. The next moment, a stronger wind blew, making her side hurt so much that she screamed.
At this moment, she woke up. Her eyes blinked, adjusting to the sudden light of the hospital. She could hear Yuri next to her, murmuring something that sounded like a prayer, and the girl was holding her hand. Where were they? What was going on? The bank. The robbery. Her mind instantly reminded her of the events and she inhaled a deep breath, coughing a little, feeling pain shooting up through her stitched-up wound. ”Ouch.” She mumbled, looking around. ”Where am I?” Well, in a hospital, clearly, you idiot.
She let go of the girl's hand as soon as she heard a voice, eyes widen and hoping for the best coming possible. It wasn't a first that a friend (or in this case, an acquaintance) had been hospitalized- Yuri was used to the surroundings, the sudden recovery but yet to be determined conditions. So for her to hear a response from the asleep girl was much more intense than when the girl wasn't awkae. She was much more wary than the second before. "Are you okay?" she asked, almost an immediate response. Her eyes wandered around to make sure Yukie was in a fair state: no open wounds, no blood.
Upon hearing the question, she let out a light chuckle. Though she really shoudn't have, with the unstable state the girl was under with medication. "We're in the hospital." she replied, smiling at the confused girl. "And if you're worried about hosptial expenses, don't. I've got you covered." It was an instinct, to remind another of any required financial issues. She wasn't assumng the girl didn't have the ability to pay, but rather reassuring of any thoughts of expenditure requirements. Her way of saying 'you don't have to think about anything else with me here'.
"The doctor said you'll be alright. They took the bullet out and all there's left to do now is rest." she explained, in a calmly manner which is certianly nothing she is now. But to put on a show up for the girl was much more important than how she really feels. "Which..." she added. "I'll be here for your assitance. If you need anything, and I do mean anything, just tell me. You say it, you've got it." It was the least Yuri could do, for the resulted situation being that she was the one to cause it. Her guilt would not have lessen even if the girl forgave her, which she was in no hopes for.
She suddenly sulked down, rubbing her hands together in nervousness. It was hard for her to apologize, at least in an official manner. Her pride wasn't what was in the way, but rather her social awkwardness. She didn't know how to put it in a way that would make her self sound sincere enough to truly represent her sorrys. Nevertheless, she carried on
"I'm...really, really sorry. If it wasn't for me, you wouldn't be here right now. And I know this incident will take up a lot of your time and it's going to suck but I do hope I can be of any help through out your stay here or even after. Again, I'm really, really sorry."
i’ll be on hiatus for the next couple of days. BUT-
i’m going to try to get some overdue replies (from last week and the weeks before atleast) done in one of the days during my hiatus. if i don’t however, because my time management skills are terrible, i’ll be sure to get them done first thing when i get back. that being said, i’ll still be lurking around to check on my other roleplays as well so don’t halt activities that has to do with the yuri-senpai~~ she’ll be back soon i promise =v= (after ooc comes back from war zone of exams and shit but ya know that’s not important lol)
