writing tip: don’t tell us your character’s backstory. don’t tell us what your character is thinking. don’t tell us what your character is doing. don’t tell us anything. the reader should simply look at a blank page and be suddenly overcome with emotion.

Good tip. I know a lot of writers who cry uncontrollably when they see a blank page, so I’m sure that feeling will translate directly to the reader.

your writing makes me want to start writing myself, if i'm being honest(not sure where to start tho) :P

WOW that’s such a compliment okay. and well, there are plenty of ways to start! for me personally, i was about 9 or 10 when i first just made up my own stories (i actually have my first ever long written work) and it was basically just the warrior cats series with all my own characters in it lol. and it wasn’t perfect, of course not, but i just never really stopped. any time an idea would come to mind i would write it down, maybe flesh out a simple plot or even just a character or a world design. now whether this made it to a full fledged work didn’t matter, this was just me getting my creativity out and down on paper. i have upwards of 30 unfinished and abandoned works on my google docs, but i kind of use them as a way to just continue to practice writing, because i know if i stop then i will plateau in any sort of improvement

look online! there are tons of writing prompts that you can start with, and you don’t even have to show it to anyone! it will be just you getting used to your own style, figuring out yourself, but also figuring out if you even want to continue. because while i say that writing is one of my favorite things to do, it’s also extremely difficult to stay on top of sometimes. BUT! if you do start now, as soon as possible, and end up liking what you see produced, there is nothing that can stop you from just. creating

you know what alexis, you are so right. and i am proud, surprisingly. i very much enjoy writing, it’s one of my favorite things to do, so at least i know that just because i feel down about it right now, i’m definitely not going to stop
