hey do you have any headcanons for the next generation of heaps?

i’m not sure this is the right blog but okay! I’m just gonna slap down whatever comes to mind:

William has little sister who’s around nine years younger and he spoils her SO MUCH. She’s a good kid but she really likes throwing herself into fights like her Uncle Rupert. This is a bit of an issue.

She has the Heap curls but she braids her hair like Lucy with a bunch of ribbons, and in a fight will use them to hit people in the face.

Uncle Rupert is so proud. Simon needs a nap.

Both of them love reading but William likes nonfiction books while his sister likes to read plays.

William can knit but his sister is awful at it and would rather do embroidery.

i hate how racist the sh series can be. as a poc it stood out to be how many times angie kept describing matt and marcus as pale, like she didn’t want us to think they might have dark skin. and the way marwick was written for the first few books was so awful, if you think about it even a little. seriously, think about it. and so much about starchaser disgusts me first of all kaznim (which is a boy name do your research) lives at the bottom of africa according to the map so she is in no way “arabic” (the right term is arab) and bedouin is not a race, like angie says on ask angie sage. I legit sent her like ten of the same polite corrections about this book and she didn’t publish them? rude. secondly why was the queen written as this stupid, evil tyrant who cuts off people’s heads- does angie know what a harmful picture that can be? third, don’t tell me marissa becoming queen doesn’t sound like colonization, or some sort of white savior trope. and there were these little details about the red city that were so, so wrong and i don’t remember what exactly but i do remember having to put the book down while reading a few times because i was so upset. and this isn’t so bad but why are brown/dark eyes seen as normal or evil?

on the other hand a lot of people draw jenna as brown and that’s super cute :D

For those of you who aren’t in the discord, a bunch of us have made plans to publish a zine and celebrate the anniversary of Magyk. Magyk was published on March 15th and we think it would be a great idea if we celebrated both with a zine and creating content!!

Anniversary Celebration:

This is a week long celebration starting the Monday before March 15th and extending to the Sunday after. Each day will focus on a different book in the series so the schedule would be:

Monday, March 12th: Magyk

Tuesday, March 13th: Flyte

Wednesday, March 14th: Physik

Thursday, March 15th: Queste

Friday, March 16th: Syren

Saturday, March 17th: Darke

Sunday, March 18th: Fyre

You of course don’t have to participate in every day but if any of the books in the series particularly inspire you then you can create something for it. It can be art, writing, edits, music, whatever! Use the tag #MagykalAnniversary so everyone can see it.

Zine Information:

We’re looking for both artists and writers for the zine! The content can be anything related to the Septimus Heap and Todhunter Moon series. Here’s some information if you are interested in submitting pieces:

The paper size is A5 (148mm x 210mm/5.6in x 8.3 in) so any art should be 1748 pixels x 2480 pixels at 300 dpi for the best printing.

Any writing should be less than 1,500 words (a little over is acceptable but we don’t want it to be too long).

Any writing is subject to be edited for grammatical errors

All pieces should be safe for work.

People are free (and encouraged!!) to submit multiple pieces.

Pieces don’t have to be made specifically for this zine. If you would like to submit an older piece edited to fit these requirements then feel free.

The zine will be offered up for free digital download and physical copies will be sold at cost (which means it just covers enough to have it printed and shipped). You can also print your own copy with the digital download if you would like to avoid high shipping costs (I will be shipping from Texas).

Artists will, of course, be credited.

Submit pieces by contacting this blog. Pieces for the zine must be submitted no later than Sunday, March 11th so that we can format the zine in time for its release on Thursday, March 15th.

Septimus Heap Valentine’s Day HC

Enjoy this guys

Silas and Sarah

Spend the whole day just together at home

Sarah fixes Silas’ favorite meal for lunch

Silas attempts to make dinner

Silas has several presents that he bought over the past year

These gifts include rare herbs, small vests for Ethel, new hats, and a few odds and ends of things they might need

Also flowers. Lots of flowers.

Just a nice calm day that they spend together

Marcia and Marcellus

Marcellus does a lot of old traditions

He gives he a special bouquet with flowers that hold specific meanings (red/deep love,blue/endless love,purple/respect)

Also Marcellus spoils her with handmade golden jewelry

Not to mentioned poems. Marcellus writes at least two quite long, detailed poems

Marcia enjoys all of this immensely

She in turn gives books that are copies of very old books that Marcellus would sometimes say he missed

Marcia made note of every one and ordered them from the Manusciptorem

Simon and Lucy

You will not see one without the other on Valentine’s Day

They walk through the Castle either holding hands or Lucy on Simon’s arm

Simon buys anything you could think of because he’s a doting husband that has no restraint when spoiling his wife.

Gifts include: flowers, various candies(all Lucy’s favorites), fancy new ribbons for her hair, tons of material for her knitting hobby, handwritten cards, a baby, and a few gold things that Marcellus taught him to make

Lucy gets Simon several gifts too: handmade socks and sweaters(it’s cold underground in some places), plenty of his favorite pastries(mostly made by her with recipes Sarah gave her), a hairbrush, and new clothing

Basically they spend the whole day spoiling each other and being affectionate

Sam and Marwick

They work together to make the best meal ever since they both love to cook

Lots of just calm cuddling in Keeper’s Cottage

Spend the whole day complimenting each other while working through the various chores

So basically a normal day but Extra

Also they book got each other flowers and both of them became blushing messes

Lots of playing with each other’s hair

Now time for the multishipping confusion

Septimus and Marwick

Septimus is too shy for the amount of affection he ends up receiving

Marwick makes him the best dang meal (cabbages included) that Septimus might have ever eaten

Also Marwick hugs Septimus a lot and kisses his very embarrassed and shy cheeks

Marwick got Sep flowers, which earned more blushing from Septimus

Septimus gave Marwick one of a pair charms that they each carry around and will light up when one is thinking of the other

Basically they act all innocent romantic and Septimus is shy about like everything (don’t worry though, Marwick thinks it’s cute)

Septimus and Beetle

They just spent the whole day hanging out together

Had lunch at Wizard Sandwiches then went to the Manusciptorem amfor FizzFroot

They cuddled while drinking FizzFroot and talked a lot

Beetle got a ton of Septimus’ favor flavours just for this

Just a chill day of talking and cuddling and maybe the occasional kiss

Jenna and Beetle

They spend time at the Castle mostly

Beetle got Jenna a special text that is an extremely detailed history as far back as he could find

Beetle compiled it himself

Jenna LOVED it and will probably spend the next three years reading it

Jenna gave Beetle a book too

It was a copy of the history of the Queens and Princesses of the Castle as well as many hidden secrets within the walls of the Palace

Jenna first kissed Beetle on Valentine’s Day and Beetle became a happy, blushing mess

Jenna found it absolutely adorable
