Miss FFXIV Garuda, hello, what brings you here.
Full and Spicy version here
it’s actually wild how terrified of the general public most usamericans are. like you don’t realize it if you’re someone who mostly walks and takes transit and spends a lot of time in populous public spaces but then you talk to one of the thousands of people that seemingly never set foot in any public space besides a parking garage or a starbucks and you suddenly understand why it’s so easy for fascist rhetoric about the dangerous alien to take root. this country’s median voter pretty much never interacts with strangers who aren’t their coworkers or people they met on dating apps
saw a post on instagram that was literally someone citing statistics saying public transit is one of the safest travel options out there and the comments were literally just “ummmmm op this is so ableist and misogynistic of you :) don’t you know the average public transit user is a dangerous violent criminal who wants to set you on fire :)))”
it must be so terrifying and sad to go through life convinced if you set foot outside your car in public or interact with people outside your nuclear family you’ll instantly be raped and robbed by the Evil Poors no wonder so many of these people are reactionary tar pits
important points which I did not address but should be appended ☝️☝️☝️☝️
ITT:
- people giving their life story to explain why they have a special secret valid trauma reason to be a reactionary tar pit
- white true crime women assuming I don’t know what it’s like to fear rape
- fascists calling me a euroslave
- cybersmith, for some reason
Anyone would.

her bluesky header & icon are so cute too 🥰
anyway i looked up the post about seeing your grandma's boobs and tumblr has deleted the screenshot of the story where the finnish dude says that americans are "like that" because they haven't seen their grandma's tits
good job tumblr 👍
there it is!
my comments on that post were (sorry for shamelessly copy-pasting them):
american attitudes about nudity are fucking wild, and the worst part is that because they're american, they just assume that everyone everywhere thinks the same. i will never forget seeing people on a left-leaning, progressive site saying that families bathing together is creepy and gross and clearly a sign that something is wrong with the family, that they'd never seen their siblings or parents naked and would in fact rather die. meanwhile to this day i bathe and go to the sauna with my sister and mother and have been bathing and sauna'ing with various family members - and even strangers! - my whole life. but yes, can confirm, seeing your grandma's tits as a child does you good, and not just because it teaches you that "beauty is fake and temporary", but because it broadens your ideas about what beauty even is in the first place. my sister and i used to spend our summers at our grandma's house by the countryside and frequently bathed and went to sauna with her. we saw not just her breasts but also her flabby skin, her moles and liver spots, her body hair and varicose veins, and we didn't see any of that as weird or ugly because they were a part of our grandma who we loved very much. and when we see those things in other people - ourselves included! - we think "well it wasn't ugly on my grandma's body, so why would it be ugly on anyone else's body?". it makes you much more understanding and "forgiving", if you will, towards the completely normal bodies of strangers as well as your own body.
[image description: a screenshot of a tumblr ask. An anonymous user says "boobs shouldn't sag like that", and OP replies "what a funny way of admitting that you've never seen a pair of boobs outside of porn"
then, someone else replies to the post with a screenshot that reads
"I always think of one of my co-workers at a husky farm near Inari, who told me apropos of nothing while we were clearing out dog shit together that he thought the reason Americans are "like that" ("like what, Veikka" got the response "you know what I mean") is because "they never see their grandma's tits." His logic was that "in Finland, you go to the sauna with your grandma from when you're a baby, and you see her naked, and this is years and years before you ever see any porn, so you know before you see any of it that it's temporary and fake. And when you get a girlfriend later, you know it's only a matter of time before her tits look like that too, you accept this. And Americans don't know that! They don't! They look at porn, and then they get a wife, and then they're surprised and bitter when she gets old - it's true!"
Like, to be clear, I think Veikka's analysis might have been missing more than a bit of nuance, this is the same guy whose motto was "Driving 600km south to Rovaniemi to get therapy is expensive, chopping wood till you don't care about it anymore is free", but I do occasionally still look at some British or American take online and think to myself, in his voice, "they've never seen their grandma's tits""

whenever the conversation about difficulty and accessibility in games come up i want to slam my head into a wall because noone thats speaking has anything more than a surface level understanding of what "difficulty" even is
your game should have accessibility options, but if your only accessibility options are "turn off central game mechanics" then you have made shit accessibility options.
you know what accessibility option doesnt completely fucking butcher your game while allowing almost everyone to play it? an option that is not available in 99.99% of all games ever made? easy:
bonus points: if you put a game speed slider in your game you can also allow Absolute Fucking Freaks to turn it higher than 100%
i do think ff3 (the DS remake bc it's the only one I've played) might be the platonic ideal of a generic jrpg. Like i don’t even mean that in a good or bad way its just… So Straightforward. The game plays everything really earnest and direct and kinda doesn’t do anything absurdly interesting or subversive.
You really just do fight progressively stronger enemies and upgrade your gear, fighting ambiguously towards a chosen one goal of saving the world. The job system is good but not absurdly deep, so the game stays pretty well paced and entertaining, but not like in a way that stands out.
It can be super easily compared to ff5 but ff5 is such a good fucking game that i feel like it fails to meet ‘generic jrpg’ as a standard. Even though I wouldn't say ff5 is particularly subversive in it's content, it's just so well designed and fun with such well fleshed out systems that it feels distinct just by being at the pinnacle of what it's doing. And the fact that ff5 is doing this with essentially the exact same gameplay system as ff3 makes ff3 feel even more generic by standing in it's shadow.
I think if you wanted a game to have someone play so they could like, understand what games like moon and undertale and earthbound are playing off of, final fantasy 3 would be a genuinely really compelling choice.
