behind the makeup, the apparel and the poker face, there was a soul. some may had forgotten that, but it was true. it seemed that little by little, a piece at a time, her peers may had an image far different from the one her friends had of her. it did not deter her to make more acquaintances or friends even as surprising the bonds she formed could be.
thus came nephele in the picture.
in appearance, they were pretty different. the older being much more ‘chill’ while the other was much more of a ‘busy bee’. friendship seemed unlikely, but they seemed to get along just fine. from hayley’s perspective, the later had this calming almost sleeping effect on her which made her more at ease with life in general { she would say that it was as if she was on a fluffy cloud without the trippy aftereffect. }.
bumping into her after the end of the last period, the younger one nearly immediately grin at the other. she grabbed the other’s arm and forcefully made her tag along. “i was thinking about you, now, here you are,” she spoke. “thank you, heavens.”
{ ♥ } ❝ Sorry, I didn’t realize so much time had gone by. No wonder I shocked you with my presence here. ❞ Regaining her smile, she dusts off her clothes once all the papers are safely stacked on her table and focuses her attention on her company. ❝ We can talk about your suggestions for the next event over some food. I’m really craving for some pizza. ❞
even the most perfect of person could lost track of time; however, in the president’s case, it was simply a matter of getting work done, which made it justifiable. the wayne would have never said it outright, but, the older one was really a good role model goal.
the light shade on the older’s cheeks was a little shocker, but seraphina did not comment on it. the latter was known to be perfect and composed, therefore, in control. perhaps something was happening in her life, but it was not the younger’s business, so she did not pry.
“i do not see the need for an apology,” she replied bemused. if anything, the president was tending to her duties.
a smile made its way across her face at the other’s suggestion. she could have beamed but she refrained from showing too much of her happiness { alfred always told her that there was a limit in expressing emotions to not inconvenience one’s interlocutor }.
“we could go for pizza,” she agreed then she remembered that the other was a cheerleader { and the captain at that }. “don’t you look after your calorie intakes or does cheer burn a lot?” rather or not it was tactless of her to ask such a question was a mystery to the often obliviously blunt girl. in case she would be offended, she covered the blunder by adding “...and i have tons of ideas, but i’m sure most of them will never see the light of day.”

a couture high-end friendship shaped itself between the two putting to shame the grotesque familial rivalry among their brothers. boom badoom boom boom that’s ❝ super bat. ❞. ❝ a girl should be two things: classy and fabulous. ❞ ( coco chanel ) ⇒ @eachristelle

❝ the origin story. ❞ ⇒ issue ₁
[ trigger warning: mental illness, abuse ]
hurrdiedly (and gently since leia is linked with him), he comes up to the cosplayer. “h-hiya! i was wonderin’ if i could take a picture with you?” he asks politely. the cosplayer nods and smiles, “sure!“ he turns to leia, “mind takin’ our picture ma chérie?” he asks kindly, beaming at her.
“you are a big doofus,” she corrected herself in humorous manner. "okay, i could always call you zio, but it’s italian for uncle? and, a dork is what you are.” she teased him just like any good sibling would { that was how both jason and tim brought her up by poking fun of others and of each other while annoying dick or damian their favorite victims. } she stared at him for a moment before grimacing at what he said. “my name is lengthy? grayson claude lebeau also known as ezio is not?” she was not really offended as she was she was smiling almost giggling when she said that. “princess suits me well, so i wouldn’t mind it.” even if the skywalker and the wayne did not share much in terms of traits { but they both had the good looks }.
she simply nodded when he asked her if she did not play much video games. the truth was that, regardless if she grew up with mainly boys around her, those games never truly captivated her. she was an outdoor and thrill kind of person plus she fancied jokes and pranks the most { which was why she was jason’s favorite, because of the many ploys they came up with }. dick and tim were all about the technology. especially, dick. he was the master hacker and everything. he probably still was playing video games from time to time when he was off duty from being agent number...something or nightwing. “never understood how much fun games were in my childhood.”
it seemed that being someone who played nintendo games { she figured that nintendo was probably a company } only meant that she had never delved much in gaming in general. she knew nothing. then, she thought of some game damian was playing. “ah, there was some shooting games...first shooter?” fro all she new, the game seemed futuristic and she was good at it, because she treated it as a simulation { and, also, because dick upgraded the controller to be closer of an actual gun because she was bad with all those squares, triangles and other symbols }.
she nudged him to break out of the hug feeling embarrassed to be ignorant in the field of gaming. it was so bad that she did not even understand ezio sudden...what was the word again...fangirling or fanboying. she did some sorts of a nerd culture, but gamers were not part of her squad.
she pulled out her cellphone to take the picture of the big dork and the costumed person { ‘why is he disguised?’ she wondered as she tried to take a good picture }. suddenly, a person came closely out of the blue. “is this the next line of wayne technologies of smart phones? it’s only going to be released in a few weeks.” { ‘ah, someone who speak english i understand’, she thought }. “a few has been released at the press conference and event held by the division a month ago. others have been selected to test the product,” she answered curtly. “now, if you excuse me...” she focused on the pair before her and took the picture. “done.” she returned to the other. “it has a whole new processor. it is not the same quality as tablets or laptops, but, at least, ore frames by seconds.” she simplified. the look in the gamer’s eyes was weird as if the news was about to make him cry of happiness. “okay, time to go now” she walked by ezio, grabbed him by the arm and decided to dash off.
when they were somewhere else, she looked at ezio with a smile. “i don’t know what i did that.” she laughed. “but, for some reason, the guy’s eyes were about to explode...what’s so great about fps here? i thought it was just something good for watching videos and stuff.”

{ ♥ } Now what was his name? It was longer…something like a alien Marshian? Martian? MARTIN. “Martin Luther King Jr once said, ‘One has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws.’ Or one of my favorites, a very questionable Greek man by the name of Aristotle. He said that ‘It is not always the same thing to be a good man and a good citizen.’ But don’t worry, you seem to be a very very good robot…I mean citizen.”
“let’s play my mortal game? if i recall, you’re the one who instigated this battle. not even processing before speaking, you decided to explode when i merely inquired if your reputation mattered.” she retorted refraining of letting any emotions that could cloud her judgement. “i’d also take this opportunity to tell you that you’re digressing. belittling a being whoever they are or using foul words, just shows how little power one’s have over their emotions. i believe you have debate class; therefore, you know what i mean and i do not need to explain.” was the goddess flying off the handle and that amused the wayne, the mortal. when one opponent had to rely on the use of degradation in its arguments, his or her lost was already imminent.
with her arms crossed, she, then, leaned back on one of the desks to better look at the latter. “perhaps, you should start paying more attention to us mortals. we could learn you a thing to that your entire lifetime failed to teach you.” she retorted with the same cheeky smile. “as a matter of fact, if you would have even the least bothered to look at us, maybe, the temples would have never fell to ruins, the people would have still worshiped you and the mythology would not be used as merely stories to be taught in school because the authors had such splendid ways of writing. because, yes, what matters now aren’t the gods, but the humans.” it was sad really. the goddess was putting herself under spotlight like only she mattered when truly beyond ever after high who really cared about her.
“that leads to my next argument,” she took a pause to find a perfect way to formulate it. “never did i say that you would literally cease exist, but you will be forgotten literally, and based of your earlier arguments, being known is an aspect so dear to you. you expressed yourself so passionately about who cared about my existence or if anyone even knew me here; therefore, that shows that popularity and recognition holds a dear place in your heart. will it matter to be a deity if no one is their to sing his or her praise?” hopefully, ophelia would open her eyes and let that one thought sink in. “and you talk about the tactic of ‘heeding to the expert’? then, how can you speak of humans when you are not a human yourself? i talk about gods in a point of view of humans. i say hephaistos is ugly by human standards. i said hephaistos may be more you beautiful for you gods. do not worry, i do not speak for the gods, i speak of the gods.”
“puppet to society? never said so, but you need to know how the world works to be able to navigate through it. better yet, to be able to control it and to use it. the basis of good ol’ manipulation.” she, then, chuckled. “did i slut-shame or did clearly stated that you, by mortals’ point of view, will be judged as a ‘slut’?” although, opinions had no place in debates, it seemed that ophelia assumed that everything seraphina had said was her opinion. “if anything, if i were to address my personal opinion of you, i’d say you aim to be the top dog, the queen bee. or, should i say, the queen bitch which is actually what queen bee stands for,” she expressed blatantly. “let me tell a tale for those queen bees of the world or should i say, remind you, since you have watched humans grow and rot. once upon a time came to power a woman named jezebel. she was the ultimate queen bee and everyone feared her. she trampled on the peasants since she was literally and figuratively the queen of the land. then, a rebellion broke out. her faith was that she was fed to dogs and was eaten alive. she got what she deserved. most if not all queen bees or hbic or whatever suffer an unfortunate end, so you might take that as warning. opinion ends, because opinions should not be part of a debate.” not that other had been using them since the beginning.
“there are over billions of humans roaming in this world how can i follow all their legacies? hyperbola, much. i will admit this, i may resemble a few lots, i may actually follow a bit those i consider my role models and i do not see the wrong in that,” she nodded. “however, when ever after high speaks of legacy, it means following the footsteps of your parents or parent. that being said if one does not resemble much his or her parent, it would make he or she a rebel, but, if one does take a thing or two from his or her parent, it should make him or her a royal. taking your explanation, which would make me use an expert’s claim, gods do not have this luxury of changing making them royals. humans being capable of evolving could either be a royal or a rebel. you can put me in any box you want, it’s not an insult to be to be considered a royal but i could be a rebel who knows?” it was not like ophelia could really tell since she did not even clue of who seraphina wass.
she slowly applauded the other. “it’s not about conformity. it is about what in the beholder’s eye is or is not right. the beauty is that you can agree with one but not the other. perharps my right is shared by many but wrong by others. morality is a construction and justice is not the same for all.” now the other wanted to use quotes. { ‘fair enough. be my guest.’ she thought. } “i’ve tried many things that my fellow mortals said. for example, sun tzu, ‘if you know the enemy and know yourself you need not fear the results of a hundred battles.’ how did i applied that? initially, i took basis on the rumors surrounding you and asked you why you were behaving in such a way. when you got fired up, i understood that you were someone governed by her emotions. as we continued to talk, i’ve come to realize how you are fairly conceited and how you would set yourself higher, because you are a goddess while i’m a mere mortal. never once in this conversation have we truly revolved around me, but mainly on you and the fabricated image you have of me since you do not know me,” she explained as she was deciding on who else she cared enough to follow the principles. “my personal favorite of them all, niccolo machiavelli, author of the prince, ‘he who wishes to be obeyed must know how to command.’ something you ought learn to. he, also, said something that make you incredibly mortal to you, dear goddess, ‘men judge generally more by the eye than by the hand, for everyone can see and few can feel. every one sees what you appear to be, few really know what you are.’ i know that even i judge from my observations, but so do you.”
the wayne stretched a little. “one last quote that i would love you to hear and that i find so mesmerizing: “i do not pretend to be able to prove that there is no god. i equally cannot prove that satan is a fiction. the christian god may exist; so may the gods of olympus, or of ancient egypt, or of babylon. but no one of these hypotheses is more probable than any other: they lie outside the region of even probable knowledge, and therefore there is no reason to consider any of them.” words from bertrand russell, author of why i am not a christian and other essays on religion and related subjects,” she recited before explaining why chose it. “where i come from, the word ‘god’ holds no actual power. it is flaunted and tossed around left and right. aliens and metahumans who have shown special abilities are considered gods. therefore, the mere fact that you present yourself as a goddess to me means very little. sure, you are a goddess from olympus, but, here, you are just another student either chasing or trying to change her legacy. it is the same for me, a mortal, because i am trying to understand my place. i do not care if you consider me a robot. judge me all you want, goddess.”

❝ no, we don’t have a meeting today but there’s a stack of documents over there waiting for my signature so i figured i’d get a head start before more work piles up for all of us. and you, what are you doing here? don’t you have a class or a club activity right now? ❞
she sighed in relief; yet still glance around to confirm the other’s words. who knew right? it was ever after high, so there could a cheshire cat’s offspring eavesdropping in the area or the antman’s lad lurking around...no one could ever be too careful with all them.
“you didn’t frightened me,” she denied with a smile. her little ego did not permit her to acknowledge fear. “i was just expecting to be alone at this hour.” it was not like she did not want any company or that gwyneth was a hindrance. the fact was that she assumed that there would be no one at this hour, because the council members had relatively busy schedules.
which was why she was in awe. the president was indeed the ‘little miss perfect’ everyone claimed to be { and she also gave this reassuring vibe of a mother }. “that’s our president alright,” hummed the wayne as she glanced at the president’s pile of papers. “i surely do not envy you at this moment with all the workload.” she, then, shook her head. “club activities are over. it’s actually a little late. i just wanted to look over past events that happened within this school maybe find one or two to propose to bring some life around ~” { ‘not that the ever after wasn’t lively enough’ she thought }.
“need any help or at least something to eat?” the younger enquired wanting to be more of use.
❝ I don’t believe in faith, but you’re right in meeting me in such an unruly occasion, another sorry for a lady ❞ he bows his head slightly, wanting her to just forget what she has seen minutes earlier.
she did not know if he was literally asking it, so she decided to give her own thoughts on the matter. “with power you can control the world, turn the tides. you can either be evil or be good. it really depends on one’s nature.” her father used his money and his company to be the vigilante that he is more or less known to be. he brings his justice to a city overrun by villains. on the other hand, the evil queen, brought terror with her magic. “but, power can corrupt those who are weak. not everybody should hold absolute power within their hands.”
rolling her eyes, she discredited his words. “because of everything that is said about you, you are willing to make an enemy out of someone? you’d rather be alone?” she questioned wondering where he was trying to head with his argument. “it has nothing to do with being saved or saving, kay. if there’s one thing that i do not fear is rumors, because i act accordingly. if i were to, let’s say, take you into my arms and delve you with kisses, then, yes, i would be in trouble. however, i’m simply having a cordial conversation although i was quite harsh earlier.” { but, she was harsh for good reasons. she was one who to uphold rules when they were justified and was one who to have a strict moral code and an utmost care for image. }
many would have been bewildered that kay was not entirely bad. most people { or being } were complex anyways. in her opinion, he was more like a child, but she would not dare to offend him unnecessarily, because where was the fun in causing discord for no reason { it was not classy and it was a waste of time }.
“you don’t believe faith in a place where one must abide to his or her legacy and pre-written destiny?” it left her slightly bemuse { she would have assumed that he would believe in both fate and faith since he seemed to side with the royals }. she watched him bow, which made her pinch her nose in disbelief. “what kind of spectacle is this? you’re really a hilarious one.” it made her crack a smile. he was really like a big child, but it’s not like people cared about that side of him, because it was his flirtatious side that would cause a stir and have gossip spread like wildfire.
